It's a great point. I saw an interview of a guy who served time in prison say that when he was getting jumped by guards he kept moving around on the ground, never staying still with any part of his body, because he knew if he stopped moving for a moment they could hit that area with much more power. So if they hit his leg and his leg is already moving, for example, they cannot generate as much force against that part of his body.

A long time ago I was told, "if you find yourself in a fair fight, you've failed to prepare properly." The UK legal system seems designed to ensure that predators always have the advantage, so personally I ignore the UK legal system when it comes to protecting myself and others whenever I'm temporarily stuck on the gloomy dysfunctional little island. When attacked, respond with overwhelming force and aggression until the attackers are unable ever again to be a threat to anyone, under any circumstances. Then leave asap. Real life is not like the movies and the police are not our friends.

In America, one can't defend one's self against vicious attackers, unless it is in front of a surveillance camera. Using a knife in self-defense is not an option, only a gun, as the legal system if deeply biased against knives for self-defense. In America, a white person has to let a black gangster beat and rob them, as only black lives matter (BLM), and those BLMs are free to beat, rob, and kill Asian-Americans and to never be charged with a hate crime.

As a “senior” female, I feel particularly vulnerable to random street crime. Vulnerable, but I leave the house every day after having considered what I need to do to defend myself.
    I don’t carry a dangling shoulder bag
I wear shoes (mostly my ranch 🥾 boots) that I could kick or run in
I carry pepper spray in a nice pink container so they know I have it on me
I’ve taken self defense training with firearms and physical combat exercises
Most of all…. I try to stay aware of my surroundings and minimize my risks.

If you're noticing a sneaky guy slowing making his way behind you. While his buddy is egging you into a fight. And you're not already changing your position to one of advantage. Then you better at least be expecting a war on two fronts real soon. And you better know the sneaky guy will likely attack first from behind. So turn it around. Let sneaky guy know he isn't sneaky at all. By acknowledging his presence as you move to a more favorable position. It's been my experience that sneaky guy will likely fade. Once you've shown him he's not sneaky at all. And you're taking the lead in this dance, hehe.

Had this situation outside a pub in London. A guy who was looking for trouble earlier in the night decided to start it up again in the street as I was leaving when the pub closed. I squared up to him and his mate started circling behind me. I can't recall what I said but it was along the lines of 'I'm not looking for trouble but I'm If you think I'm scared of you, you've got another thing coming.' Then I turned and stared directly at the rat trying to sneak behind him and said "And don't think I don't know what you're up to either." Fortunately for me a bouncer saw what was about to go down and made his presence felt so that these two cowards who lacked the testacles to take me on individually slank away like the vermin they were.

Often overlooked: Teach your girlfriend/wife/partner to NEVER hold you back or try puling you away. I barely made it out when three c**** ganged up on me. Effin' girlfriend at that time kept dragging me by my right arm. Lost balance and couldn't throw a punch. Two guys rushed me and it turned into a ground fight. Third guy didn't want to fight anymore after what I did to the first two guys. I walked away unharmed (bruised ego, for sure) but it was a wake-up call. Talk to your partner BEFORE anything can happen. Stay strong,. stay safe! 💪👍

Bruce Lee taught a wonderful version of this lesson on mindset, stating that "I am not locked in a room with 10 guys that want to beat me up rather those 10 people are locked in a room with me!"
I believe this is a closer quote to what he said I would have to check in with Shannon Lee the executor of his estate to verify... I'll check her book later too it's a great book. She has access to a lot of notes on his studies on philosophy esp his fusion of Daoism and martial arts.

After that day, my attitude was "I am not to be trifled with" whereas my attitude before was nothing at all. The frame of mind you have is EVERYTHING. Criminals are looking for the weak, so don't be that. The best defense is to project strength thus not be preyed upon. Learning a martial art or boxing is a great way to achieve this.

The bigger takeaway from that is to stay out of a dangerous situation in the first place. Avoid dodgy places. Listen to your intuition. Don't let them grab you or take you to a second location, because no one is coming. I was almost strangled to death at 17 yrs old. I was one of the lucky ones. Someone did come to my rescue. The second man who was with him grew a conscience, and stopped him. Many aren't so lucky. I am 50 yrs old now, and I still remember what it felt like to come that close to being murdered. I was helpless on the ground, and no amount of training would have helped. Ladies: kicking a man in the groin doesn't always work if they are high on adrenaline or drugs, if they are wearing jeans, and if the kick isn't a strong, direct kick. Often, they will fight through it, and it only further enrages the man. Don't rely on that maneuver in your arsenal. We are much smaller and weaker than men, and they will easily overpower you - no matter your training. If they get you around your neck and off the ground, you're as good as gone, despite the cute hip thrust videos they show. When your airway is being cut off, you have precious little time to come up with something to get out of the hold. It doesn't take long before you're seeing stars, and you become weaker. Be aware of your surroundings, stay out of the fight, and live to see another day.

I have been cornered by three guys on one occasion and on another occasion was cornered by four guys, when your aware of situational awareness you will always find one guy uses a distraction tactic by talking while another sneaks off to the side silently, it is such a common tactic and most people are not aware of it which is why sucker punches happen, first occasion i walked towards the door way of a bar i was in they will have had to come through a narrow gap to fight me, second occasion i walked between two parked cars again this is not to say your not going to get hurt, but it will benefit when they can't surround you and you take away there advantage. My point is if you want to look like a movie star your dead trust me, most people will try to fight like there good at it and pretty, no i don't if i fight you can bet it will be ugly but more effective. And i will strike first cause im controlling the fight. Also they will try to intimidate you search for weakness as mentioned dont get angry, sad or scared your giving the bad guy what he or they want, if you dont react you will find the intimidator becomes the intimidated. You also have to be aware that to the bad guy your the bad guy so when fighting be animalistic with him, forget looking pretty , be ugly and kill.

This is very good advice. The only thing I would add is that this is what you do at the very end of a process when all else fails. What I mean by this is you can avoid 99% of BS on the street by not being there. Spot potential "issues" and just cross the street. Don't be there. Don't give the bad guy the opportunity to deploy his "skills." The reason I can't be victimized right now is I am not on the street, I am at home. But given that, if your situation is confronted by a bad guy, this is very good advice.

Personally, this is why I prefer concealed carry over open carry. Just me, but as a normal civilian, I follow the "weapons are meant to be felt, not seen" (especially with knives) philosophy as it's a good way to suddenly turn the tables on an attacker and they, realizing they're not prepared are more likely to turn tail and run. A weapon is meant to be felt by the attacker once you've deployed it, not on display for them to evaluate prior to launching their attack.

Karate is a great activity but not the best for self defense. There are just too many holes in the skill set. Most fights in the real world involve grappling and karate does nothing against grappling. Also, why do you not have a firearm? It's by far the best self defense weapon and no amount of karate is going to defend against an armed assailant.

Very good. I used to practice Aikido. One of their teachings was " Control the attack by leading it." What you present here seems to fit into that philosophy. Look for weaknesses in the attacker and use them against him (or her). This means being at least on the same level if not one step ahead of the attack.

    • @artyomarty391
      @artyomarty391 Год назад +2

Aikido should really be banned. Aikido instills into the unaware that they're learning self-defense, when in reality they're just learning some dance moves
A while back my best friend fell victim to this scam and joined Aikido. His trainers were claiming they could take on dozens of people at the same time, but for me it was clear these trainers had never had a real fight in their life
This friend practiced for years and this did nothing to his fighting skills, or confidence, because he too eventually understood on a subconscious level that he still cant fight worth anything despite years of Aikido. Like, he constantly talked about how effective Aikido was, but he would never say yes to a fight or would try to actually defend himself in a street fight
"Control the attack by leading it" just sounds cool. There's nothing to it. Anyone could make up hundreds of such phrases to make their sport sound cooler, but such phrases have no substance. I mean, has anyone ever claimed that you should not control someone's attack? Its these kinds of language tricks that scam artists use to pursuade that their sport is better than others
Here I'll just make up a random phrase on the spot, and nobody can disagree with it: Defend the attack by making the attack.

  • @stephen4763

This is entirely correct. If attacked respond with overwhelming force to stop the threat, because we are automatically disadvantaged because the attacker has chosen the time, place and method of attack. We, are in response mode already behind the curve. Prevent this as much as possible by being aware of one’s surroundings. Yes there is no “fair” in an attack on you.

You are so right thank you always for your advise . The problem Is that in our society today with so much crime and with the system that we have. In a situations like this you are always gambling with your life or to go to jail and the line is thin . Because the prosecutor lots of times cares only about prosecution’s lawyers About money and you will be judge by people that probably
Had never been in a situation. Like the one on the video. So if you strike first and be the agresor some states will put you in jail. And you have to take a fast decision you don’t have the time like they do in court to analyze every little detail . Not only you have to take a fast decision you have to take it with a hi level of fear and stress. The only way I can explain people some times the feeling is . Have you ever been Attack by a bee 🐝 ? Why do we Trow so many hands to the air till the treat is not there ? You don’t throw one hit you trow many or wen you see bug that probably is not even going to hurt you I mean we see women scream or even guys jump out there seat wen they feel a Spider on there body’s right . Well amplified that many times and that’s is how you will feel wen you get stabbed by some one trying to robe you shot you . I can say by experience that is way worst then been Sting by a bee or a Spider, my advise try to do everything you can to avoid been on that situation on the first place try to be loud now in days every body has phones they are recording make sure that people around you know that you are not the agresor criminals don’t like the attention . Some people that are just looking for fights and people hi on drugs that have a predatory behavior you can see them coming but some places n big city’s like Mexico City were there is a lot of organice crime and profecional criminals trust me you won’t see it coming no matter how much awareness you think you have.

They take a bunch of young boys from a council estate, or a bunch of young middle-class graduates at sandhurst and train them in a way that allows them to turn on a form of controlled aggression at will. Using intelligence, skill and unfair advantage to kill the enemy in large numbers. Developing that mindset is part of the reason they still do bayonet training. You just need to internalise and visualise that aggression beforehand so that when the situation demands it, it is there to be tapped into.

Perhaps why veterans come back as psychological basket cases.

I was thinking about what the presenter said about exploiting the weaknesses of the attacker. I find it difficult to think about defence even when I’m not under attack. But I was attacked both verbally and physically recently. By a neighbour who was basically jealous of me. Well that’s all I can think as to why I was attacked. I was ran at and pushed back to the ground. I had hold of him with two hands, and him me. He was screaming like an animal. I was trying to calm him down, but to no avail. In the struggle I got a hold of my thoughts and kind of bench pressed him up off me, he had a shocked look on his face and as he rolled to the side, I got on top of him, similarly to the cage fighters who get in the winning position. As it became apparent that he had less upper body strength and he couldn’t lift me off, he changed from aggressor to the injured party. Saying get off me several times. I said I would let him get up and told him to get back in his little house and stay there. That was 10 months ago. I believe he would strike again but the shock of him being held down keeps him thinking of rematch. He has an advantage of being 46 I I’m 63 and had a heart attack 4 years ago. Get a camera so that your yard is being recorded. That way, if he attacks you again, there is video evidence for court. If he persists with harrassment, document everything, record with your phone, and get a restraining order. If he violates it, call the police. In the meantime, if he isn't doing anything, simply ignore him. Don't appear weak, but don't try to assert dominance to upset him. Just continue to live your life. You may consider getting weapons training if you're comfortable, and make sure it's locked up while you're away so that he can't break in and steal it. If you should continue having issues, consulting with an attorney regarding real estate laws can also help, because they can assist you with how to proceed with protecting yourself if you have an HOA, need to build a fence, etc. Good luck.

You have to turn it up to 100 and at the moment and then bring it down or keep it there as the situation requires.
The collar needs to come off and unleash the beast until you feel like you can sing and skip away from the situation that YOU JUST ENDED.
The other thing I emphasize is: DON'T SHOW OFF. This is the thing in materialist cultures, the fancier your watch/phone/car/house you have the more likely to tempt someone to try and take it from you. Be modest, jealousy and greed can open the door to anger and the desire to take at whatever the cost.
The last time I was confronted by someone I knew exactly what my move would be. He was a long skinny bloke and it was an enclosed space. I knew by his approach that if he saw fear in my eyes, he would make his move. I never showed fear and he ended up offering drugs. Never saw him again in my neighborhood.

Very few times have I ever used violence on someone but there is a point when it is survival. ONCE I threw sand into a guy's eyes nose and mouth ~ Then I broke his ribs with one punch.
ONCE I did a flying side kick on a guy who had stolen with an accomplice my artwork and the next day we found his strong tanto knife where he dropped it in the surf. I came out of the rim as they ran down the wet sand on the beach. I hit him right on the neck below the jaw and he dropped everything. It was in the black of night the only light was from the spotlights on houses. I carried myself like the tough guy and saw many ugly contenders back off when I gave them full eye contact. Having a weapon is good but not as good as being ready to fully commit and fight for your life furiously from the beginning. Other times I may have surprised people and got involved defending old people but I never was challenged by the law. When evil is casing you you must frighten it away ~ YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SELF DEFENSE ~

There are books written about the mindset of criminals. They have narcissistic tendencies and in their mind they get to take what they want, when they want, how they want and where they want. Their victim has no say and are simply objects to be exploited. Therefore criminals have no remorse nor empathy because only their needs and wants are relevant.

You may have already covered this, but the big holes for me are: How would this apply to males, How would this apply to females, How would this apply to the elderly, How would this apply if you're just generally weak, and How would this apply to multiple attackers.

A "Predator" explained to me years ago that while most people were good at making money....they did not know how to spend the money so it was only right that he took the money as he knew how to have fun with the money. If they got hurt in the transfer of the money was not his concern.

Even the comments are EXELLENT. I study and train in survival arts from a Biblical prospective and every word in this video hasl it's origin in THE HOLY BIBLE Psalms18

I'm kinda like the Terminator-- I look at a guy approaching me- and get these little glimpses of the entire person with the WEAK spots and SIGNALS points out to me... almost like they're labled they way they do in his vision!! ha. THAT was what I learned long ago-- anyone coming toward you- size them up completely for weakness- attitude- energy- etc...BEFORE they get a chance to do anything.

I always carry my edc tools ,especially my flashlight. I’ve had a few encounters where the strobe was enough and one where the strobe combined with draw of my neck knife encouraged an attacker to move on to less deadly prey

problem with what you teach is when you strike first you automatically become the aggressor under the law and you get a criminal charge. This is why alot of people wait to be hit or block the first punch. There is a lot of people who literally do everything so you hit them first, putting you in the wrong no matter what they did.

    • @jenx5870
      @jenx5870 Год назад

That isn't always the case, though. A person doesn't have to wait to be hit by a bat or stabbed by a knife first to identify deadly force. If the person is holding the weapon, and coming at them in a threatening manner, that is enough for a reasonable person to infer that deadly force is about to be used, and that their life is in danger. Therefore, equal deadly force is allowed to be used in self defense. Self defense laws are about what a reasonable person would consider a threat to their safety or life.

Ok, here it is my two cents. Iam a martial artist. Iam skilled. I have a 3 foot circle around me at all times. If anyone violates that circle, they get kicked, knee, shin, groin...you get it. Something to get their attention. From there it only gets worse for the attacker. I live by an anagram S.A.M. SIGHT, AIR, MOBILITY. If they can't breath, if they can't walk, if they can't see....you get it. You need to learn where to hit a bad guy. Hope this helps.

9 times out of 10 an idiot or bully just never expect anything back usually just being loud is enough for them to shrink back down but if you even feel like anything physical is going to happen always hit first hard on the chin and hold with other hand and keep hitting till it's understood you will hit back .it really is all in the mind

For a time now I have known the term self-defense to be incomplete! A fighting system needs two parts. Self-defense and also Enemy-assault training! It seems the Law's of a state has made the term assault a difficult practice to admit because it is a term used a lot to put individuals into prison!

Predators do follow some basic rules, like is the benefit of attacking someone greater than the likely cost. just making it clear you see them as predators causes them to think twice about attacking you. So situational awareness is essential, you need to spot them from the start and make it clear you know what they are.
People do this with wild animals as well. Some free dive with Great White sharks but follow some basic rules. You always maintain eye contact and let the predator know you know they are there. If you want them to come in closer then you make your body smaller by pulling in your arms and legs. If you want them to back off you spread your body out as far as possible.
In the case of predators carrying something even an umbrella or a walking stick and having the right body language can make a potential attacker look elsewhere. They are looking for an easy target and one that won't injure them if they attack.
You have to be prepared to injure a potential attacker to the greatest degree possible and make it clear to them by eye contact and body language that any attack will cost them more than they get.
