The races from early movies are so great still, this is why we used to love fast franchise, but now there are only guns and furious in the name of fast and furious. Bring those races back ! We don't want to go to space and pull car with magnets !
Possibly the most iconic movie in the F&F franchise. It's the last entry in the series that sticks to its street racing identity. It has the most meaningful hero car - a Fastback Mustang with an RB26 heart. This entire race is masterfully shot - the "long take" at 3:02 is incredibly smooth. Keiichi Tsuchiya even had a cameo. And of course, one of the most iconic title song of any movie.
Its literally THE ONLY one who is about Street Racing, not the early two, and especially not the next movies were about Street Racing, they were about anything BUT Street Racing
I really genuinely believe this movie is a masterpiece and alot of people won’t understand why, it truly has more heart than I feel the other ones have no missions or shooting bad guys just pure JDM racing and while it’s not 100% accurate on Japan racing it comes pretty close, movie has amazing characters idc what anyone says Sean was a great main character and is overhated maybe because he’s not Brian O’Connor but I genuinely believe if this was the first ever fast movie made people would enjoy it 10x more, this movie deserves more love.
I too agree Lucas was his own character as was Brian They both had heart in what they were doing RIP Paul and would be nice to see Sean Boswell return : )
Strongly agree! I love Lucas’ character in Sean. Yeah it’s heavily influenced by Karate Kid I think😂, but it’s still good and good drama and tension and most importantly, RACES! But I also like how it explored a different style of racing. With Tokyo drift, it wasn’t about top speed. It was about precision and style. Not style for the look of the cars but style as far as the drifting.
Sean and DK are racing, but further down the hill, there is an RX-7 chasing an AE86, and even further way down, there is an Audi Lemans Quattro dueling with an M3
I still don't understand why people hate about that Mustang with an RB26 in it. Yeah I know maybe it's "offensive" against a muscle car for the 'murican audience, but you got to admit it is a unique takes. It kind wanna tell us what Sean really is now, he is a 'murican but he fall in love with Japan scene in his heart. Hence the RB engine in a 'Stang chassis.
I mean, to be fair, 4 was a great balance of racing and action. It wasn’t over the top like how it is now. Plus it was the first time the main cast from the 1st movie come back. 4’s underrated as hell 💯
It never was about cars (except this one), it was about undercover thing, catching criminals and etc. Cars were just instruments to get them, and Cars are still used extensively in this series, and each film from main series (so no H&S) has a race in it, series was never forgeting where it came from
@@splintergectornathan9045 Yeah because you can buy in walmart a 350z Veilside, a RX-7 Veilside, a Fast Back Mustang 68, a stroker 572 MonteCarlo or a Silvia Spec-S... If cars doesn´t matter at all... Sean should drive a SXT Charger 3.6, DK maybe a Ford Fusion and the MonaLisa maybe a Corolla 1.8 VVT.
This is the only movie in the F&F franchise where the plot solely revolved around racing. TF&F, Busting Dom, 2F2F Busting Verrone, F&F Busting Braga, FF Stealing From Reyes, F6/F7/F8/F9 Capturing international criminals. This is truly the only movie in the series that is centered around car culture, albeit Japanese car culture but Japanese car culture has a huge impact as well. This is the best movie in the series for me. Not many car movies have a 5+ minute racing scene that's done well. On top of everything else this movie does right. It's just good.
I'll never understand why this movie get the hate that it gets. People complain about them not sticking to their roots. well this is basically just street racing but in tokyo. I personally think its in the top 3
Legendary! I wish the series hadn’t strayed from the high speed, intense racing that we’ve come to love the franchise for. Also 2:10 is the most unrealistic thing about this movie: a mid-2000s camera phone with good video quality lol
December 17, 2022 I remember watching Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift in high school frankly I hope Fast 10 returns to the roots of the franchise cause space rocket car jumps the shark
I hated this movie initially. But looking at what the F&F franchise has turned into, this one really sticks to its roots. Amazing movie. The best I thought was the fifth one. It had an element of surprise in the storyline with all main characters coming together for a heist. Also, The Rock as Luke Hobbs adding that extra punch. Last good movie of the F&F franchise.
you know what gets me about the continuity of the fast story is, they try to play it like the events of tokyo drift happen after like 5 6 7 or whichever before Han supposedly goes to tokyo then dies. THEY STILL USING FLIP PHONES HERE LOL
we need more epic races, and Street Pro Tuned cars, like GTR, Supra, Silvia, BMW we want amazing races not magnets, planes or tanks. less bullets and more races!!!
Now Fast and furious: : All action : Running here and there : 90% of Guns and weapons : life not biological and organic : 9% missions / issues with family : 1% Cars ( electric vehicles and dodge chargers ... )
Ha. I can't believe my eyes. D.K actually choked here 1:32. I guess he never thought that Sean could keep up with him for as long as he has and the pressure got to him. And that was pretty impressive what Sean did here 2:44. Four wheel drifting on the outside lane to overtake D.K.. Considering the high speed he had entered the corner and on a course with no guardrail, it was a pretty risky maneuver.
The early 2000s where best for most films and franchises and this definitely goes for fast to, I feel they don’t put as much care into the films anymore, back when the first three come out they just had completely different vibes more love more attention more care, just overall the early 2000s was the best time for films.

I don’t think the Americans get the idea that drifting is not about get to the finish line first. It is about speed, drift angle and how well you control the car. It is more like a dance competition than a race. You can’t say I win because I finish my steps first.
DK lost the race once he slammed into the spectator car.. that made him completely lose his cool and cared more about sending Sean into the ravine than actually winning the race.
this was the hype back then, along with NFSU and Pimp my Ride. A lot of ppl riding around with neon, bodykits, loud exhausts and truck shovels on the trunk. it's not anymore, it won't sell
