Penelope's hat game is superior. But I fully understand aiming for discretely not-khaki. Shoe style is unsurprisingly good. But Graham has peak "Vacation Dad" cosplay down on lock.
"...All to stay here just one night, and it was absolutely worth it" is the sentence that makes any relative proud to have had you stay over. Thanks for sharing, this was a beautiful place. Also, coming from a guy who's buying his first sunhat this summer: you rocked it!
@@GrahamStarkVlogs holy moly, Dave Lewis?! That's so cool! I remember finding an Andwella LP in my da's collection when I was younger and being obsessed with it.
Hi, You were lodging not in Barcelona, but in L´Hospitalet, a nearby town, where accommodation is usually (much) more affordable. Plaza Europa is a very recent development across where I assume the fair was happening (Fira), and hence it is not considered a family neighbourhood (there are very little families living there) but sort of retail outlet within the metropolitan area. The hotel you were staying at was projected by Herzog and De Meuron, a swiss architecture firm. It is not considered a good architecture example within the city re HORECA spaces, but nonetheless I do appreciate your reaction to the novelty.
ok not gonna lie the conversation about your hat where penolope told you to not blame yourself was adorable glad it seems like yal are having a great family vacation in this
My kiddo is 6 months younger than Penelope, and I delight every time we hear anything from her to see how similar kids are even in totally different countries/schools/etc. ❤
I couldn't say anything that hasn't been said about how gorgeous the end product of your travel content is, hope you're not too conscious of all the gritty-making-of to be super proud of these, Graham. A little more of this... groundedness? would do a lot of content very good.
Thank you so much for taking us along. That's always a treat. The color of your hat is great. But blue shoes and green shorts? Bold, G. Very colorful. I like it
Good god. Your trip made my move to Japan feel like a normal commute. 8 hour drive from Montana to Seattle - Detour an hour south off of i90 to Yakima to visit Wife's family. Get bit by a dog after visiting wrong house. Spend 2 hours in urgent care to get antibiotics. Drive an hour back to i90 and continue drive to Seattle. Spend 2 night in Seattle (wherein 1. we got locked out of the hotel room because it somehow latched itself shut and 2. we lost the uhaul keys for a solid 4 hours). Fly 12 hours to Japan. Have no apartment lined up so live in a hotel at Disney Land for 10 days lol (Oh and add in having a cat with us for this whole commute - yes even in the Disney hotel)
Hey, Kathleen said your hat was cool! I'd choose to take that as a compliment. Also, I realize that you're probably deliberately not showing Penelope's face in these (through careful shooting and editing), but it's funnier to think that she's some sort of cryptid whose face is unknowable.
It does not matter what your friends, your family and your wife tell you, since I, a random person on the internet, absolutely love the hat and think it suits you really well!
12:26 That’s a very nice vintage Citizen Homer Second Setting, which fits the theme of traveling by train perfectly, as it was an officially issued model by the Japanese National Railway during the 60’s and 70’s.
3:44 I can only imagine how frustrated and tired you guys were through all that hoop jumping traveling. I just hope the bumps will be less on this journey and i hope at the end, you guys would feel fulfilled and enjoyed by your adventure, minus the major hiccups you had to endure.
I do wish we had more cross country train travel in North America. I get their not as fast as planes but I find them a more comfortable and economical travel experience.
That hotel is lush. I enjoy recognising elements from my travels (yay, Barcelona City Train Hub!) I'm also curious about your possible reaction to written Catalan, and its visual similarities to French.
i dont think i have ever watched a video that was uploaded less than 30seconds ago Dont listen to the people in your life that dont like your hat it looks real good on you Graham
14:50, catching the semi-express train and way overshooting your stop is just a train-nation-visitor experience. XD, Surely you'd already experienced this in Japan ;P? (luckily whenever I've been in JPN, my destination is either on the semi-express line, or one stop back ^^;, color me significantly less punished.)
First time and I live your video and, than I fund out you're Canadian, which makes the list of Canadian RUclipsr I follow even longer. As someone mentioned your hotel was in the nearby city of l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, bit unlike what he said a bot further than the immediate area of the hotel there are plenty of residential areas with families, after all, l'Hospitalet is even denser than Barcelona, which is a very dense city. As for the trains, there are 3 R2 lines with different shades of green but all stop at the closest (but not that close) train station to the hotel. If aa train does not stop in specific stations there is usually an announcement and it is also mentioned on the signs. As for the high speed train from Valencia, it's just a semi high speed train as the full high speed line is not open yet so it max at 200 kph until Tarragona than joins the high speed lines with speeds of 250 kph. The slow section was probably the gauge changing part. Most high speed lines use standard gauge tracks but regular lines use a wider Iberian gauge tracks and some trains, like the one from Valencia to Barcelona, can change gauge on the fly by passing slowly through a gauge changer.
The metropolitan rail (Metra) in Chicagoland uses double-decker trains. As a kid, I used to love riding from the exurbs into the city, watching from 13ft/4m above the ground as the environments slowly changed from spread-out ranch homes to row homes to downtown skyscrapers.
I appreciate that Graham went for something more unique with his hat choice. Wear what you like, G! It's practical too; how many people will be wearing a cool mint Tilly? He's easy to find in a crowd if they get separated.
Dear LORD that hotel. Such envy, it's just gorgeous. If only American (that is to say, typically global design these days) observed this level of open air, good architecture, and nature-inclusion design!
I was gonna make a joke about Kathleen finally being warm, but I too have had the experience this summer of finally becoming warm only to discover it is, in fact, way too hot. also I love that the train coffee branding is just "café del tren" (train coffee) & did anybody else notice that tiny infoscreen on one of the trains that looked like a late 90s edutainment game
I'm sorry people didn't like your hat. I liked that you liked it when you first mentioned it and that's what we should go with. Bless Penelope. Reminds me of my son at that age. Spain really is beautiful though. I should put that on my bucket list.
when i first saw the hat before you told the story i thought "that's a nice hat" so if you like the hat other people will just have to deal with it (i am a person who wears a hat daily and owns different styles and colors for context)
That omelet looked delightful. Penelope is simply the best, dad shouldn't worry about the color coordination on anti-sun protection. And I prefer the mildly dark blue for that Tilley over mint or tan.
spain might not be top of the list for most (abandoned) hilltop castles but it is organized around the historical region of Castille, so they are major players in the castle game.
I dunno - yes Dad Chic, but given you are a dad that seems fair and frankly to be expected. Also shorts, good shoes and sunhat are a time honored tourist classic! I'm glad you're as comfortable as you can be! Really enjoying the series so far!
As a fellow dad I appreciate the drip. Also Penelope's reassurance was so sweet. Also that last shot of the city at night from the hotel was amazing. Where is that exactly, if I may ask?
Not being able to wake up the rest of your family to join you on an early walk feels like peak dad experience
"Graham Stark: Tired after Yesterdays" is a truly incredible title for a biography.
Edit: It still beats out "Graham Stark: Grotesquely Sweaty"
as I read this Graham said the second line.
Penelope weighing in about the hat was about the cutest thing.
Penelope is of course correct, double decker trains: objectively cool.
Penelope's hat game is superior. But I fully understand aiming for discretely not-khaki. Shoe style is unsurprisingly good. But Graham has peak "Vacation Dad" cosplay down on lock.

Friday Nights - GP Bound
Seems like Gvlogs are still immaculate vibes, and are still wonderfully edited.
Hat game is on point. This from a man who has worn hats for over 60 years. You go Graham

I noticed them matching too. Therefore, correct colour of hat.
Came here to say this too. Couple's matching outfits is so cute.
