Kyle, while you're at it, maybe you could start reviewing the effects loop on these amps just to give us a thumbs up or down. Maybe run an EQ through to see how it colors the sound. Just my 2 cents.
@@Rokken2Dokken Boo, Sir. I use an EQ, especially on a single channel amp to boost leads. I play with no headroom left to boost in front of the amp. Kyle is rhythm guitarists and that is probably why he doesn't play with them. It'll change when he's all growns up. 😂
Excellent video! The amp is killer. I've become a German amp fan these days. I love my Engl Fireball, and the Lichtlaerm Audio Prometheus sounds excellent. Now hearing this amp... German amps are killing it.
I normally don't care about perfection, excellence is usually very satisfying, but the tones you got there... pretty much the closest to perfection I've heard, ever.
Every once in a while you run into that one guitar or amp that just does something. Instantly feels like it makes you play better. I think this is yours. That thing rips! @belligerentamateur
The amp is drop dead killer. It still shows some Brit vibe where you can hear all the harmonics and overtones. Add to that it has great cut and super fat but tight lows, especially the lower mids, Love it in red, 😎
The same reason that the mt100 is sorta three entirely different amps under the hood? The things that make for a great clean amp and distorted amp go a little deeper than switching a few gain settings on the tubes. At least, you’re past what’s practical with analog switching in a practical sense imo
I'm working on a 3 channel amp right now that I might be able to make a demo of on the weekend. For me, a clean channel should also have all the tone controls and both a gain/preamp and volume knob, so that you can properly dial everything in. It just wasn't what this amp was supposed to be, as it was designed as more of a pure Rock amp that you can clean up with the volume on your guitar.
Kyle, thanks for the review! I'm actually looking for a Marshall style amp thats a modern take. How would you compare to the Splawn Nitro or Quickrod? I was headed in the Splawn direction but damn that Lenz sounded amazing. I appreciate your thoughts.
Before you said what this amp was based on, i did think that i heard the classic 2.7k/.68 cathode networks. Im glad that you confirmed because that tells me my ears are pretty good. The amp does indeed sound very good.
man... I didn't even want another amplifier as I am very happy with my set up as I have it, but now you have me intrigued.🤣 that thing looks f'n sick...
I imagine this is way more impressive in the room than mic'd up. It sounds great, but I feel like this tone is fairly common (recorded/mic'd). Would love an A/B with some other Marshall or Marshall-style amps!!!!
I guess that the way you dialed in that amp, made me understand how to function not only that amp but others as well. It seems you love to compress the tone the way you "dial in that amp". I think that if you turn down the bass all the way and get pure tones like the midd and treble up but not using the bass it kept a 0 treble 6 mids 6 or *bass 3 o'clock mids 0 treble 0 and nothing in between. Try those with other amps, I sure you have.
With the modded Marshall tones it’d be interesting to see you stack overdrives like the sd1 with another sd1 or whatever you feel would suit the tone. Like Gary holt
I can hear why you're gushing uncontrollably over this amp because i am as well! What a collosal bone cruncher! I thought the EMG 81 sounded the narliest. \m/
I get Lenz's hand made amp is worth the price. I don't question that. With that said, Due to the priceI would like it if the offered a mini head. Y tone now is good so I don't need a head, but if the price was less, I'd consider buying one. Hope that makes sense. Unfortunately for me, however, I understand the high price; I just couldn't justify it, but Can't ask a maker to discount his hard work.
72 Seasons is probably the best representation of the Jose sound in a high budget production besides the Joe Holmes Farmikos stuff, which uses a PCM41 as a gain boost, changing the sound quite a bit. I'm quite sure I know the circuit of the exact amp that was used and it's a pretty standard Jose without the clipping diodes. The Hot Chili has a very different circuit with other approaches to taming the bass and treble frequencies in the preamp.
I want one. I feel like not enough people have heard about Lenz. Maybe they should market the hot chili as: Endless options, which inspire and provoke soul and bowel crushing pain from both ends of the sonic spectrum, Ass to mouth and everything in between. -Instant, catastrophic heart failure inducing-acid reflux, combined with simultaneous expplosive diarreah, all at your fingertips. Bring a diaper. And a tarp. 👍 Just a thought...

Would say better sound and cheaper than Soldano SL100 or Friedman Amps. Lucky me. I'm from Austria. Hehe only 450 Kilometers to drive ..... and pick up this beast direct.🤘
@@brandonbryson3317Hermansson is more like 5-6 (and like the Lenz is also arguably worth it if that's the five you want and can even almost pull it off).😢 i cannot for a few years.
It would be wrong for me to compare that sound to anything else. Honestly this is what other amps should sound like. Like this is what Metallica should have used if it was available decades ago...
The amp is $4,009.18 or $3800 Euro. That's not cheap, but it's not break the bank expensive either. I paid that much for my Friedman BE100 DLX and it was money well spent. I'm a person that would rather have a few really nice high quality pieces of gear than a bunch of mediocre gear. I once had 30 guitars. I sold and traded them and now I have 4 Custom Shop guitars that I actually play and love playing.
Sounds like a metal amp, lol. I really did want to say that it sounded like a more transparent 5150, though. Instantly. Without the honk. A low end can be too tight.
Sounds great, according to what you said seems well built too, but the price is too expensive. I know that a good tube amp is costly to manufacture, but you can´t price this the same as a Mesa amp or even more expensive than some other well known brands. Everytime I see a tube amp from a "new" brand I always ask myself, would I get one of these amps, or a brand/model that I know and has proven itself in the music industry? I think the answer is quite obvious...
Well it is probably a lot like this: I once saw a video with a song about the rabbit hole nature of the internet and the one thing he ain't seen is dick in a dick. It's funny AF, find it. Years later I discovered this is aa real possibility, reality in fact. There is a dude in either Belgium or Austria that had pumped a full 8kg of synthol into his member which as be describes it " challenges the conventional notion of genital roles." About 2yrs later in the wee boys of the morning, in a cumpulation of some kind I was unexpectedlyscorched, absolutely scorched in both cornea by the unexpected appearance of Mr Belgium receiving a dick in his dick. If that video could be a guitar tone, you've described it. True story btw, if you dare...😂
I wish it had pull-only knobs. Pull to activate, pull to deactivate, with the knob slowly but steadily getting further away from the amp the more you use it. It’s a badge of honor to have your pull-pull knobs extend from the amp to the wall in the room in which it now permanently resides.
Id like to hear my PRS WOOD LIBRARY through that noodling on some ERIC CLAPTON. In fact maybe I'll show up at one of your little hardcore shows and show you hardcore NERDS a little bit about WHITE COLLAR BLUES LAWYER ROCK AND ROLL #GETSOME

Thank you!
Sounds more saturated than a Wizard.
Eddie makes killer amps. His take on the 80s Bogner Snorkler is superb.
Nice work, KB... Love discovering semi-obscure gear.
Wow, that’s an incredible amp, like you said the market is saturated but they all have missed something, seems Lenz really nailed it on all points
Crazy string definition and percussiveness. Love the Cali criticism too, real. Great vid

I'll never understand why the absence of a simple clean channel to assist with this wonderful gain tone
