This is amazing. I've been using simple scifi for about a year now for different scenes, and a tool that allows controlled packing like this is going to be invaluable for streamlining my workflow.
I think this is really impressive, the results speak for themselves. I'm still trying to get to grips with the idea of being able to produce something so detailed and credible, so quickly. The results are amazing - I mean, those emissive screens and keyboards ... it all so perfectly fits the remit of sci-fi/industrial design. The renders of that locker/cabinet you showed, especially the interior view, look like big-budget studio renders for a sci-fi movie. So well judged, in style and content. (come to think of it, the way it was lit was really good too) To make these assets manually, and then put them all together, would take sooo long, at least for a beginner (>no hope of even completing it)/intermediate (>yes, there's hope, but it would still take a long time!). I really am so impressed with this, and I'm pretty sure you are going to continue to develop these ideas further. Thanks guys!!
I'm impressed! Our creative director sent me the link to this video this morning, as we are a game/software engineering company with a focus/specialty in AI/ML, automation, cloud and dev-ops/"AI-Ops" methodology. This seems like just the sort of thing that could enhance a game development workflow for either an individual or an organization, and we happen to working on a sci-fi game prototype! I'd love to chat about what sort ideas/collaborations we might be able to think up -- we certainly have a lot of cool stuff going on :D
Howdy, I own Kit Op Pro 2, can I use this within SPOCK the same way D-Packs are used in SPOCK/ or just as assets to kitbash in spock? Thank you for another amazing addon.
Wow, and it is not even overpriced like addons from some authors. Even tho Blender community is pretty much price fair not like some Unreal assets :D I will put these on my wishlist and get them when I am gonna need sci-fi enviroment
Looking for a system like this (or kit ops?) that I can ultimately 3d print. Is there a way to set it up so that it produces meshes that will definitely overlap (so they can be boolean-unioned together)?
This looks like an awesome product. The only feedback I can give just from watching this video is that the "clear all" button is a very dangerous button which can easily be clicked accidentally. I don't know if actions done in that dialog are subject to undo/redo but in either case putting a confirmation dialog on that button will probably save your users from some unnecessary stress when three hours of their work suddenly disappears at 2AM because they clicked a little too high or to the right of where they intended. Second question: It doesn't look like this uses wave function collapse. If not, are there any plans on implementing it at some point?
This just looks like a rehash of Synth, which was clunky, quickly superceded by geometry nodes and was overall a waste of my money. I seriously can't see the benefit of this.
So, Simple Sci-fi is now redundant as this new Spock product replaces it as a new revenue stream for the creators whilst they dump Simple Sci-fi users - DISGUSTING! why not do the right thing, and upgrade Simple Sci-fi like you do with Kit Ops or the creators of HardOps / BoxCutter and more do? Or maybe at least give current owners of Simple Sci-fi a significant discount for this as an upgrade version etc??? As an owner of KitOps paid varsion and Simple Scifi paid version I won't be buying Spock and probably won't buy again from this Developer and I also hope more simple Sci-fi owners boycot this product to send the Developers a message?!?!
Simple Scifi update is coming. It works very differently and has a different result. This product actually started out as an attempt to update simple scifi, NOT create a new revenue stream, but it started diverging too much. We learned some things from it to definitely bring back to simple scifi. I think you have over reacted tho, you could've had a conversation with us. I assure you we are not abandoning simple scifi. We even avoided some cases in spock where simple scifi would be better.
The quick answer is: Flex only uses geometry nodes which cannot do regular packing, so anything that is packed in anything resembling a grid is not possible. Geometry nodes also does not do edge to edge packing and it extends outside the boundaries of faces. Flex only places things in a random position, which is fine for things like mega cities, but not good for things like interiors and control panels. FLEX also features the ability to have super high resolution displacement maps. Hope this helps. A longer answer is in the documentation for SPOCK: cw1.me/spock
Also, every one of our products has had free updates since inception. KIT OPS has been going for over 3 years with free updates. Not to mention we also give away a lot of free stuff on Blender Market and Gumroad.
@@AnthonyAragues @AnthongRedbeard So, this product, as you've stated was intended as an update and improvement of Simple Sci-fi. But instead of doing the right and more difficult thing of improving Simple Sci-fi using the approach you've developed for this product. You've generated a new product and additional revenue stream. Only time and your actions with Simple Sci-fi will prove if it is being covertly dropped and bought to it's end? In the meantime I hope that all those who've bought Simple Sci-fi and your other products watch carefully and act accordingly to wherever your actions take these products. What a shame that IMO you've chosen this approach, as up until this point I've thought your products, marketing, customer care and ethics were good. But alas not so now. Prove me wrong and do the right thing. Or don't and let your customers decide what the future holds for you, your products and for us and the Blender community???
This will soon become invaluable to my illustration workflow. Fantastic work, as always.
This is really amazing. You guys did a great job with it.
Another beautiful plugin. I will definitely be getting this before the sale ends.
This plugin saved me, bought today and its amazing
Loving this deep dive, wonderful work by everyone involved!!

Looks like some hairy-assed programming (a serious compliment). I just bought it (an even more serious compliment).

@@ChippWalters awesome 👌
Interesting that SPOCK makes us of the Chaos Star.
Awesome addon..
❤
When getting update...!
I'm not sure it needs an update. It should work fine in 4.0
@@ChippWalters it's work fine ...
I mean update for spock kpack 😁

You want to use a rematch modifier, as it will turn everything into one solid manifold object that can be printed.

Yes, the clear all can be undone. Also, by clicking on the icon next to a saved set, you can reload all the settings for that set.
Chipp this looks great, when you set the type to fill are the objects still instances? thanks
Yes
🔥🔥🔥🔥
hello what's the difference with simple scifi ? is it better or completive ?
Please see cw1.me/spock
Can we transfer over to UE5 after building out in Blender?
Yep. FBX export from Blender
Does SPOCK support Blender 4.2 and later?
Yes.
@@ChippWalters Thanks! The product description only lists 4.1, so I wasn't sure if it had been updated yet.
Now add AI to all of this to assemble itself :)

Not at all like synth. Please see cw1.me/spock for a comparison
