- This episode sees us leave Bushmills and head for Carrickfergus via several harbours ( I have a thing about boats and harbours!) Our plan was to follow the beautiful Antrim coast all the way but we changed our plan to meet up with Loz, one of our subscribers who'd asked us to meet him for a coffee if we were going anywhere near the little town of Broughshane. We were fairly close so we couldn't pass up the chance for a coffee and chat. It turns out that Loz had an amazing back story as an international one man band busking all over the world! Added to the fact that he didn't even start riding bikes until he was 64! We had a great time chatting over a coffee and he gave us a great route back to the coast - thanks Loz it was great to meet up with you.
We then followed the coast road to Larne and then on to Carrickfergus which was a delightful little town with a beautiful harbour and impressive castle. More great food and Guinness followed.
We hope you enjoy this episode and if you do please comment, share and give it a thumbs up.

I grew up in Carrickfergus. The harbour used to be really busy with coal boats and cranes. The area opposite the castle was a coal yard, but is now apartments and restaurants. There also used to be a restaurant called The Smugglers that jutted out over the harbour wall. It was quirky and full of driftwood, lobster pots etc. unfortunately the wooden structure was badly rotten and was closed due to health and safety, then it burnt down anyway.
Bit of trivia…. The name Carrickfergus originated from Krag Fergus, which means Rock of Fergus. This is the rock the castle was built on.
Loving the videos ❤

Great video team. Brian's looks are enhanced by my channel Buff, a great model! 😉 Cheers, Nick
Thanks very much Nick - your neck buff is the best! 😀👍
Thanks for another scenic episode. While you didn't need the sunscreen, at least you stayed mostly dry. Your nightly quaffing has made me look for a place to get a proper pint of Guinness (not always easy here in the US of A). Thanks again.
Thank you Marco 🙏 I really don’t think you can get great Guinness anywhere else but Ireland! 😀👍
Thanks for another great video and ride 👍👍
Thank you Jim we appreciate you taking the time to watch! 😀👍

Thank you Trevor 🙏 we appreciate your comments and thanks for following our adventures! 😀👍
Another good one Brian and Sue. One of my favourite day trips is to catch the 07.00 ferry from Cairnryan to Belfast. Then hug the coast (and what a coast when the sun is shining) round to Londonderry and back across country to Carrickfergus for dinner, before hopping on the 19.30 ferry and back home to Ayrshire. There's been some great StenaLine deals over the years, but none to beat the £9.00 return for my bike and myself, including breakfast!
Thanks very much Dave! That sounds like a great deal - how brilliant to be able to hop across on the ferry and do that ride! 😀👍
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries Indeed. It's a real treat. 🙂
Love the music you pick X it tells the story! So much love for both life and each other in your vlogs. Keep being happy and stay shiny side up xxx
Thanks so much Sue 🙏 we really appreciate your support and comments! 😀👍
I would have been disappointed if there had been any complaints re the food in Ownies, we’ve never had a bad meal there, the coast road is as I’m sure you know a bikers road. Nice series of videos,Stay Safe out there.
Thank you Norrie - we loved Ownies and really enjoyed our visit to Carrickfergus! 😀👍
Hi Sue ,Hi Brian. My biking pick me up on Friday morning what could be better .
Thank you Michael 🙏 glad you started your day watching our adventures! 😀👍
Such a shame you only saw ‘good’ Irish weather and not the really good! That looked like a good ride, have heard the Antrim coast is very scenic, we live down in SW (Kerry) and have never made it up there! look forward to your 2024 travels, sure you have something planned for us🤞🏻😉
Thank you - to be honest we can’t complain, the weather we had on part 1 of WAW last year was stunning! ☀️ it’s definitely worth a trip up North. Got plenty planned for 2024! 😀👍
We've stayed at cushendun a couple of times, even had a few lock ins at Mary McBrides pub, cushendun in Gaelic, apparently means brown river
We enjoyed our brief visit - in retrospect we’d have liked to have visited the caves - maybe next time! 😀👍
Wonderful video, and fitting soundtrack that makes the journey all the more more pleasurable ! I do admit , I gave the video thumbs up even before I watched it. The quality of your videos is a certainty. Thank you Brian and Sue. As for the weather, the clouds fit the wild Atlantic way, just as a Guinness to Beer o’clock. Cheers, from Berlin, Jim
Thanks very much Jim - always appreciate your support and comments! 😀👍
brill vid again both
Thanks very much Allan! 😀👍
I helped organise two Guzzi club rallies in Ballintoy, but that was a long time before Game of Thrones. Some wonderful people there so hopefully they're getting the benefits now. Great tour 👌
Thank you 🙏 we loved our brief visit to Ballintoy - beautiful place. Thanks for watching! 😀👍
How can you make me crave seafood chowder at 7:30am!!! 😅
We know what you mean Mandy! 😂 Awful isn’t it! 😀👍
I've never eaten so much seafood in my life, Mandy! 😂
@@suegibbons2508 I had the Strangford loch oysters years back and OMG!!! Almost as good as the lobster in Hawkshead!!! Thanks for the great content, should be on TV!!!
An unexpected treat this morning watching your latest vlog, good to see the weather improved and always enjoy a harbour visit.
I see Belfast in the distance towards the end, we were there via cruise ship along with Cork and Dublin earlier this year, all three were buzzzin. Ride safe.
Thank you Lee and Jan 🙏 who doesn’t love a harbour 😀! Glad it brought back some memories! 😀👍
Excellent video guys, so many great roads in Northern Ireland. Don't be shocked...but i have never had seafood chowder!! 😂. Something i will try soon. Look forward to seeing more adventures! Cheers, Steve
Thanks very much Steve - there are some great roads in NI and some great chowder too! 😂😀👍
I went to several of those places back in early 90's as a soldier and always wanted to return. I couldn't think of a better way than on my bike!!
Are you going to the motorcycle live show this year, would be great to say hello? 🙏
Absolutely! Best way to see anything is on two wheels 👍 - sadly, not doing Motorcycle Live this year 🙁 weren’t too impressed last year - maybe next time! 😀👍
Good morning Brian and Sue. I love your optimism regarding weather but it was more like October with dark skies and no sun. As always, I enjoyed your latest video and the enthusiastic manner in which you describe our countryside. Love your music too. What are you planing for your next adventure. Thanks again.
Thanks Brian 🙏 yes it certainly wasn’t like summer 😳 ☔️ but you can’t control the weather so you have to get on with it! 😀 we’ve just got back from Spain but our next big tour will be France! 😀👍
Hello again. Another nice trip/episode😊 l am considering bying a Tiger 900 GT Pro. What is your experience so far?
Hi Jonny, I’ve loved all three big bikes I’ve had - GS700, Tiger 800 and Tiger 900 but I can honestly say the 900 GT pro was one of my best decisions ever. I’ve now done nearly 14,000 miles on it and love it more every time I ride it. A few people have asked my opinion and I always say the same thing - don’t hesitate! Wishing you many miles of smiles 🐯👍😄
Hi last 🕰️ comment I got my first bike Honda 50cc well on Wednesday October 31st 2023 I passed my 🏍️ test I’ve now got my cat ‘A’ so I’m 👀 4 a bigger 🏍️ 🙏 4 inspector u in yr vid log hope a lot a young girls go in to 🏍️ 🙏🙏🙏 🥰🥰

Sorry ! 🙁 so focused on a route to seeing our subscriber Loz we completely overlooked it - have to come back and do everything we missed! 😀👍
