Wow thank you so much for the shout out that's very kind of you!
You’re welcome! I love your channel! Thanks for the inspiration on the candles!
Love this video. I will have to try this diy. I said this years ago but I have to do, it seems so relaxing. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
Hi Nicole. The candles look awesome. Truly enjoyed watching you make them. I really like the cupcake tin candles and the heart candle. Thanks for sharing. Take care. God Bless You and Your Family.
New haircut! It looks great!
Thank you!
Nicole when I make my candles I cut strips of cardboard and pop a hole in the center to put the wick through to take the place of that tin wick holder you have. Cheaper and easy.
Great idea! Thanks for the tip!
Great job on your candles Nicole they turned out really pretty. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.
I'm so going to do this at Christmas time. I love the combo of orange and clove. Never thought of sprinkling cloves on a candle until you used the cinnamon. Thank you. Stay safe.
Cloves would be nice!
They turned out great! Funny as I was watching you I remembered making a candle at school maybe 2nd grade for a “present “ to bring home. We had to save our milk carton from lunch and wash them out. Then we had to put ice cubes in the opened milk carton before the teacher poured the wax into the container. Of course the wick had already been added and the next day once the candles had set we had to tear away the milk carton, the ice would leave a lacy hole effect throughout the candle! Very early Seventies!!!
You could add a few drops of color to the icing and use a piping bag to frost them:) so cute great idea
Cute idea!
Sooo fun..brought nack some girl scout memories..ohhh I loved those ice cream soda candles.
Great video love the new haircut. 👌
Thank you!
I LUV Homestead Tessie! She and you are two of my RUclipsR favs!!!!
Aw sweet! Thanks!
A little dollop of hot glue helps keep wick in place as well. It doesn't come loose when you add hot wax. Another tip is to wind the extra wick around a pencil so the wick doesn't wilt down when hot wax is added.
We made candles for my sons holiday bazaar when he was in 6th grade. We had so much fun making them! Great memories.😊
Those look so cute and I know they're going to smell so good in your home😊😊Love watching Homestead Tessie ❤❤
Nice! Thanks for sharing how to make homemade candles 🕯
So fun. I will have to keep a lookout for some fancy tins.
I throughly enjoyed this kind of video. I love crafting and baking so it’s a perfect project! I love your haircut too. It suits you so well ❤️
Thank you! And I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Your candles turned out nice! I used to make candles using paraffin wax, the granules sure melt better. The sheets of honey comb are fun to use also!
You got your hair cut! It looks great! I love these little candles. So cute!
I did! All the cool kids are doing it hehe! I got five inches off! Much easier to care for!
I love this project!! Thanks for showing us.
This is so funny! My husband was asking me tonight why I don’t make candles like pioneer women. My response? Pioneer women didn’t teach middle school. 🤣 I may have to give this a try!
That’s hysterical!
when we were young my mother helped us girls to make candles .for the frosting she would whip the wax with an old hand mixer, like your green handled one. it worked very well , we would spoon it on like cool whip .they looked wonderful.
Neat! I love that idea!
Love that you shared this! I got soy wax and supplies for Christmas and can’t wait to make some
Yes! Such a fun and easy project!
Thankyou! I would like to try this!! Your candles look so sweet!🙂
You could add old used candles for wax. Plus some could add color to your melted wax
Super fun and informative video!!! I have made candles in the past but now you have inspired me to make some more, and with some new twists. Thanks😀
🧁 They are so cute! Love the "frosting".
It was fun. enjoyed it thank you Nichole.
You’re welcome!
My Grandma used to make Christmas Candles as gifts. She would get cheap ones from the store, melt paraffin, add crayons to color the wax, use a hand mixer and whip up the wax, take a butter knife and apply it all over the taper, sprinkle it with glitter and add a piece of Holly to the bottom, then hang it by the wick on a line to harden. I still have a set she made for me over 40 years ago. They are green. And all the equipment was just for that purpose.
Sweet! Love that!
I've now made 2 batches after watching your video, what fun! I do use a dot of hot glue on the base of my wick tabs and this anchors the wick nicely to the bottom of the vessel. Thanks again for this fun activity that produces such a nice candle.
Smart! I’ll try that next time!
I’ve been given some candles as gifts which I’ve already burned but the holders are so cute, I hate to throw them away. I’m going to try my hand at making some candles to put back in those cute jars!
Thanks Nicole!
Nice candle demo! They are so cute & I'll bet they smell good too.
I like your hair cut. Very nice. ~tfs
Very enjoyable video Nicole and I am definitely going to try making some candles. Thanks so much for sharing!
You’re welcome! They are so fun to make!
Thank you Nicole. What fun!!
Never made candles nor watched them being made. Looks like a project for my sister-in-law.
She is super a crafter.
Looking forward to your next crafting session!🤗
ADORABLE!! I love the idea of the cinnamon!! Now, I need to do this!!
Thanks for being a great teacher!🥰
Adorable!
I haven't thought of "frosting" a candle for a very long time. Like maybe 55 years ago. I was taught to use a pencil to wrap the wicks around. It really holds well and there is no frustration trying to hold the wick in place. Really enjoy watching you craft. Would really like to watch a few more every so often. Stay safe and God bless you and your family. Sherry from Alabama.
That’s a smart idea for the wick! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, because essentially waxing the bottom part to hold it in place looks to be a wasted step. They are falling out of place immediately. However, I think this is something I will start doing with my youngest daughter. She can make a tradition of giving handmade candles as a gift. 😍 Plus the time spent together will leave such great memories. 💞
Those look so cute! Great job!
I have done this many times.
I like to use the left over wax when candle is done burning . I just melt all the wax, add a wick and then fill up a container.
Easy peasey
Never thought to make my own! You’ve inspired me
Yes it’s so fun!
Ordered supplies to make my first batch of candles. I burn them at home in the evening both at home and when we're at camp. I'm sure these will be way less expensive than buying and what fun to make my own! Thanks for the inspiration!
Yes! Have fun!
Nice 👍 I haven’t made candles in years
Love your video I am saving all my used wax I am going to make some with peppermint. I am so happy you made this now I know how to melt it safely ♥️Stay safe Angel 🙏🏻
Your haircut looks amazing! I can’t wait to make my own candles
Thank you! And yes! This is a really fun project to try!
Love candles. My first job was working at a candle company in the data processing department....so many orders
Neat!
Looks fantastic
Great video! I have all the supplies, but was apprehensive to start. You calmed those fears....making candles in the am! Thank you so so much 💞. Love the new haircut, so cute!
Yes! Do it! It’s so fun and easy and makes a nice end product!
Thanks for sharing! Pretty simple! I'm going to have a little booth of my own starting in May. I will keep this in mind for the fall and holidays and have my eye out for containers. 😄👌👏
That was fun…. Love your hair cut , so bouncy and shiny
Thank you! I’m really happy with it!
Very cute 🤗
Such a cute idea. I have been wanting to try this thanks Nicole.❤️🇨🇦
I enjoy Homestead Tessies channel also.
One of my faves!
I use candles from the bins and melt them down and use larger tin cans for different colors then I dont have to clean them out.
Smart!
I used to have a candle shop and would use popsicle sticks to hold the wicks in place. Just drill a small hole in the middle of the stick and thread your wick through it! The sticks lay flat on top of whatever type of candle holder you are using. I used to look for unusual mugs to pour mine in. They make great gifts! Loved the video!
That’s such a smart tip! Thanks!
Really enjoyed this I'm inspired ❤
Hello! One extra tip....back in the 50s and 60s my mom made candles that she would "frost." She always took a hand held old fashioned egg beater and when the wax got to the cooling off stage, she would whip it up...it gets real fluffy and very frothy. Just a really beautiful addition. Yours turned out awesome! TFS!😊❤
*not whip the candles, just the "frosting."
Great tip! Thank you!
This was a really nice video , l love burning candle 🕯 l imagine your home smelled lovely
It did smell really good while making them!
Looks like fun..nice little gift for someone at work maybe. 👍💕
That’s what I was thinking!
Love the candles
It's very useful to use the sticker to keep the wicks in place. For one when you pour & two when you burn. It won't burn all the way because when it's lit & hot it moves. Use good stickers tho the Amazon cheap foam ones are not very good. Also you can literally take a mixer to it & it will look snow or real frosting
Love your hair cut!!
I love your haircut!!
Thank you!
These are so cute
Thank you! I’m really enjoying them!
Cute!
Did they have a good throw? I would love to try this!!Thank u for sharing the process. ☺️
They do! For the best throw with soy candles you should wait 48-72 hours to burn them which I forgot to say in the video!
Nice job Nicole. I’ll have to try this. Love the frosting look. I also like adding the cinnamon or other spices. I burn candles everyday so this is so helpful . Your hair looks so pretty today😊
Just a tip from making candles it’s best to add your scent when wax cools to around 60 degrees after it has melted from 80 degrees
That looked like fun...anxious to try. Your hair looks great!!
Thank you! Yes, highly recommend trying the candles. It’s fun and easy!
So cool to see this ❤️
I've done some candles myself I've used the left over candles that haven't burned. I have trouble that they don't burn down to the bottom. I like the idea of the frosting they look nice lit with the sprinkles. The bottle candle was brining back memories of when we used to get milk at school the long wick was like the straw. Seeing your little doggy in the background❤️hope he's not missing his friend too much. Interesting seeing everyone's suggestions. Take care.
Super interesting to watch, Nicole.🥰✨👏🏻
Thank you Sarah!
Loved the diy❣️
The wax frosting could you use a icing bag? Cute candles!❤
That’s a great idea!
Just an FYI. I recently bought a small milk bottle candle and it was very hard to light after the first initial burning. The fire from the lighter and long match would eat up all oxygen in the bottle and extinguish the flame before getting to the wick.
Good to know!
You can also use chopsticks to hold the wicks...❤️❤️❤️
Did I miss it? Where did you get the apron? So pretty.
This brought back memories of my childhood and Christmas. My Mother and a couple of neighbors would get together and using the paper milk cartons much like those used today make Christmas colored candles and when the remaining wax cooled they’d frost them with an icing spatula allowing some of color from the base candle to show through. The fluffy frosting was generally white. They didn’t frost the tops.
While still warm they’d sprinkle glitter on them. I got to do that part sometimes! 😁
When you mentioned the frosting idea and showed the remainder of your melted wax in your pot, it looked like cake frosting. WHAT did you use to turn it into fluffy icing consistency? My Mom used a mixer.
Thank you for sharing your morning inspiration!! Enjoy your HU🐫P day!! Hope the harsh snow storm isn’t making it too difficult to get out and about!!
Till next we meet again, take care!!☺️
That’s so neat! I’ll have to try that at Christmas!
To fluff it I just used my fork :)
I used to make candles with my students in those little milk cartons. The students would fill the cartons with pieces of ice. I would pour the wax on top. When it cooled, we would unwrap them and all the ice had created holes throughout the candle. The kids loved them!!
Very nice candle making video Just Nicole
I save my scent wax in coffee cans and melt them down.
I wonder if maybe you could just put the wax in the muffin tinsel and put it in the oven to melt? Just q thought I have no clue 8f it would work or not?
Your candles look awesome. Have a great week
Hi Nicole! I use hot glue to hold the wicks in place
Great tip! Thank you!
These are adorable! When these burn, is all you smell is the sugar cookie...or burning wax also?
Love your hair. Thank you for this video. I've always wanted to make candles, but was a little intimidated.
You should definitely try it! It really is not hard and it makes a product you can feel proud of and even give as a gift!
Back in the early ‘60’s my dad came up with the idea of helping my sister and I make candles to give for Christmas presents. He was an engineer and came up with his on ways of doing things. He bought paraffin that came in blocks that measured about 3” wide 5” and 1/2 inch thick. He melted a few of the blocks. Rather than pouring the wax into molds, he used 4 blocks for each candle. He put a small amount of hot wax on two of the blocks and sealed a second block on top of the hot wax. The next step was to sandwich a wick between 2 sets of blocks. Then came the part the kids could safely do. He took cooled wax about the consistency of your frosting, colored it green, and whipped it in our Hamilton Beach mixer. When it was fluffy, my sister and I covered each candle with the green wax and sprinkled glitter on them. When my son was 8, we made them for Christmas gifts. His son will be 8 this year so we’ll make them in December. Looking forward to it!
Sweet! Thank you for sharing!
Someone got a haircut. Looks so pretty. Enjoyed the candle making.
Thank you!
How do you clean up the equipment after you make the candle like the pot and the spoon etc.
I wipe out/off excess wax with a little sore towel and then use very warm water and dish soap to remove the residue. Great question!
I have made candles before, but never with the “frosting”. If I wanted colored “frosting”, what would I use, food coloring?
Love the hair 👍❤️🙋🏻♀️
Thank you!
Great video Nicole might have to try that. Saw your fur baby is he doing ok?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He is doing ok but he misses his sister. He looks a little lost sometimes. But tonight he came down to our room to sleep and looked all excited to get into the little bed I fixed for him so I think he’s going to be ok. Thanks for asking ❤️
In the 60’s we would save paper milk cartons, specifically 1/2 gallon. Fill them with wick,Crushed ice, big hunks or small ur preference, put in wick,
add melted wax (whatever
color u want). Peel off wax carton when cooled. Turned out great!! Try it!
Neat idea!
I remember doing this in school. I was in 4th grade! You brought back a neat memory
Piece of metal screen works as wick holders
Great tip! Thanks!
Love your hair !!!
Thank you!
You can hot glue your wicks to the bottom of your jars also.
Great idea! Thanks!
Looks really fun! Did they smell really yummy too?
They smell great!
You got your hair cut. It looks really nice. I need to find a double boiler at a thrift store.
Yes! It’s much easier to care for now!
Hi. I’m new to candle making. Where did you get your double broiler?
Hi! I got it at a thrift store. You can also use a large can (that sauce or beans would come in) and set that in a pot of water on the stove.
Try using a piping bag for the wax that looks like mashed potatoes unless it’s to hot.
Your hair looks great! Did you get it cut?
Hi Nicole 👋. Did you get a haircut, either way it l looks nice and thick. Love making candles but whenever I use something smaller at the top I get alot of sinking wax. Any suggestions.?
I did get a haircut! It’s much healthier now and easier to care for!
Yes sometimes wax sinks just heat up more left over wax and top it off and let it harden again it will smooth out
I just subscribed to your channel !! :)
Thank you!
How do they smell. I can’t get mine to smell good while burning or in my wax melt pot
They smell great! I used a lot of essential oil. There’s also more concentrated oils you can buy that are specifically for candle and soap making. I may try those next!
Did you get your hair cut? It’s so cute on you!
