Hello good evening! , I've just stumbled apon your model railway, I must say wow! You are doing well. I've been modelling since I was 12 now 47 and my layout which never leaves home looks more like a preservation site ?😂 unlike yours? It's very rare we ever see a very nice looking lady!! Taking an interest in railway modelling? I mean cmon guys! Isn't she wonderful!❤😊.
Hi there, I didn't realise your layout was completed as yet ! Apologies I was trying to send pics of my own layout, just to show you how I completed my embankments using the old method. I have browsed through some of your videos and you are very clear with the description, unfortunately it's late and I'm at work at 6am but I'm glad to have found your channel 😊 I bet hornby will have you working with them shortly? Take care good night cheers IAN.
Hi there, great job so far. One of the great things about this hobby is it makes you see things in a new way. I was shocked when I realised in lots of stations the terrain is contoured such that the car park/pavement etc at the front of a station tends to be at the platform height, not rail height. I had never noticed before! I guess gently building up ground level from the road to the station forecourt would enable you to use the buildings you have.
Hello Jen! The layout looks great! I model N scale and have a 3x5 layout in the front room. Remember 3 important things...1) it is "your" railroad...you can design the scenery any way you wish 2) Have Fun! 3) it is a journey not a destination That is what the layout is all about...yes, for sure there will be frustrations...that is when it is time to take a step back and perhaps work on a different aspect of the hobby...rolling stock, locomotives, signals, track etc. Always new adventures to explore! V/R Chuck
Great video and nice to see your progress, I just built an N gauge track and had too extend it as the trains were too t long 😊can’t wait to see your next video ❤
Nice buildings and structures. Great stuff. Model railroading is fun! And yes I agree with the comment online. It is YOUR railroad. Do what YOU want to do with it. I used to like to take fine dirt out of the front yard. I would put it on a cookie sheet and bake it at about 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Then I would run it through a sifter and sift it onto the water and glue on the layout. Have FUN!
Hi Jen, there used to be kits for buildings a long time ago that were made from plaster mouldings. Cast the pieces, glue together and paint. I had a very quick search and it looks like there are some around today. Not cheap but could make a base for something customisable by just making the bits that you need. With your skills and imagination with layout modelling it might be worth looking into. Many thanks for sharing and have a great day. Printed or painted thicker cardboard might also be worth considering but would lack the texture.
@@_j_loco_ lol my apologies for not taking this "build" seriously. That wasn't very serious hobby modelling or gentlemanly of me !😉 ..Yes! that's a nice layout you have there! 🥰 and 🔥
Great layout... but...Just an idea... why not do away with levisham station and put in a fiddle yard behind a backscene, entered by tunnel by your MPD, represent Grosmont MPD. Youd be able to access from back and gain extra storage loop(s) operational interest?
You are incredibly talented … I always wanted to build a layout and never did it … but I have too many hobbies that I never spend any time on. Hey you should have an abandoned haunted house lol 😂 x
I'd just scratch build a raised floor for the house and kit-bash the added garage by changing the roof peek and pitch to match the house. You'd be surprised what you could do with Plastruct. If I was there I'd show you what to do and what to get to make it work. This hobby will make you learn all sort of new things that's for sure.😁LOL! 😂 You can do it J.Loco, I Believe in you!
Take a step back Jen enjoy the best month of the year 😊 April my birthday is on Easter Sunday yipeeeeeeeee 🎉❤ everything will fall into place in the end believe me I know 😊 you will get your toilet block done in the end enjoy the springtime it's beautiful like your model railway is and it's coming along nicely best wishes x tony a happy Easter x
Hi Jen. Can you swap the buildings? The sloped roof is only on one side. If you swap them the small building would be to the right of the big building and if you had to you could separate them a little more in case it blocked the door.
Thank you 😊 I did try swapping and moving but I'm not convinced it's OK...I will have a think on it and the ideas you have all come up with. Thank you again 💓
I have never realised that Levisham station has a cottage facing the other direction. Would have been nice if Hornby had made that considering they made some of the other buildings for there!
Yes as the side of the house is on the platform joined to the toilet block so you would think they would have made it to. A missed opportunity there by them!
How brave are you feeling ? 🤔 😳. Place the cottage and toilet block on a flat surface. Use a piece of card on the toilet block roof and use it to draw the roof line of the toilet block on to the cottage sloping roof. Then cut the cottage wallls and roof away and the toilet block should now be able to but up to the cottage. You may need to use filler to hide any gaps. Worth a try especially if you're going to bin the building, and just think of the satisfaction you'll have when you finish. I have found Scalescene - print yourself kits very useful, and rarely build the kit as is, but usually combine parts of one kit with another (you just ptint off the bits you need), they also do a range of brick papers so you can customise your models further.
It's coming along nicely. A model railway is never finished and always tweaks and changes will come. Don't get disheartened with the cottage, so you got the wrong one. Maybe this will lead to a new arrow to your quiver and build it from parts yourself.
We all come across snags on our layouts at some point. That's the beauty of it how to overcome them. Your doing a good job anyway ❤ Take care and enjoy what your doing and maybe see you about as gala season is in full swing.
Hello Jen. Your very beautiful. As for your problem. Move the building over. There is a prototype for everything somewhere. Great layout. Don't be depressed. It will work out. G
Hi there try metcalfe's PO267 kit that might fit in with what your looking for ? They do card sheets to match so you cover the toilet block to match perhaps??
Sorry to hear that Jen, you wanna try a garden railway for blue air railway modelling 💔🤬😄😄 Is it possible to remove that annex and make good your new cottage? As it's resin(?) it will need power tools, a good mask (the dust is dangerous) lots of thought and a steady hand. Either that or kit bash a cardboard/plastic kit and add a better roof to said cardboard/plastic kit? That could be fun, learning new skills? It might turn out to be really enjoyable ✌️👍😊🤞 Have you any photos of the prototype/area so that we can be reminded of the cottages there etc? As one other commenter suggested you could put in an angled backscene/view blocker (cut your losses) and dedicate the area to a fiddle yard/staging yard "off stage"? You'd loose a station but gain a fiddle yard and a more realistic feel to the main station area when viewing at eye level🤔🤔💜💜 As you say give that area a break, mull it over then go back to it afresh with new ideas👍✌️😊💜💜 It's all part of modelling fun😉😇😊 And it's your railway so "Rule No1 Applies" (in a nasally accent) - I can't believe I just wrote that but you catch my drift 💜😉😊😇
Thank you 😊 as ever always appreciate your great comments and ideas. I am doing fences and trees for a bit and will be a while now before I revisit Levisham....I am considering as you say cutting loses on it...we shall see what pops into my mind when I'm putting more landscaping on 😁
@@_j_loco_ You're most welcome as always. Sounds like you've got a handle on it and your approach sounds like a good one👍✌️😊✌️💜 PS only just seen your reply, and it's six days later, You Tube is funny like that🤔🤔🙄🙄😄
Hi Jen, there's always little frustrations along the way, but you're doing a great job, so don't be too hard on yourself, just a thought, but if you called the station Aidensfield,(like in Heartbeat), then nobody could say if it was wrong, the important thing is to enjoy what you're doing, take care, all the best from Scotland, Stephen.
Hi J Loco, I'm new to your channel. The name Levisham caught my ear. Is this the Levisham station of my school holidays I wonder before it was taken over by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway a little north of Pickering?

Hi Jen I really like your videos very fresh and your layout looks great. Only thing I must say the audio on the video is a little off. On my computer I have the volume all the way up and I can hear you but not well. I saw you onetime was using a cell phone to record I tired using my cell phone in the past and the audio was not that good.
I find the Metcalfe range very good. The farmhouse from the Metcalfe farmhouse sets profile and roofline would but up to your toilet block ok I think, and in the same colouring as your current building. Don't get in a sweat let the problem play on your mind for a few days and all of a sudden it will dawn on you.
Hmmm. you might have to do a little surgery with the cottage roof so the 'cabin' can butt up to the cottage wall? Alternatively, can you move the cabin further along the platform so there's a bit of separation between the two? You might also have to move the cottage further along the platform and infill the gap to the same level?
Hi J loco. Am interested to know what you have used for the tarmac. On my layout have used grey paint to create the roads and it looks ok but yours looks much better.

You need tequila! That kills stress... Relax girl don't think of it as a problem, think of it as a challenge... You'll find the way... The woman in black doesn't give up that easy, does she? 🤔🤔
With respect, your large house/cottage,do away with it as its too close to the station,it will go somewhere else...close by....it looks like a small halt, and not a main line,so it would never have such an ornate building on the station platform, maybe set back yes, depicting an older time with a disused line in front?.....and a platform,...but not now close to the main line.

Cottage in my opinion needs a different location not at the station it’s nor a station type of building or station masters house .
Yes I'm not sure anymore it is correct for what is needed you are quite right
Sometimes all you can do is give an impression of a place rather than recreate it exactly , see the Impressionist art movement for examples
Yes as most of my layout is not exactly accurate so I'm thinking it will be modified to suit what is possible 🤔
I could help with that j loco by fitting the outside loos block to the cottage for you

Insta is ok but is the layout that's the highlight of the week.
Thank you 😊 I aim to try and do a bit of mid week work when I can to keep updating here...is my intention. Or at least run trains. Thanks 💕
Wow looks like you are wearing Lara Croft cosplay. 🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣 thankyou...I love the Lara Croft films 🤣🤣🤣
@@_j_loco_ Think you make a perfect Lara Croft. You probably make it at the auditions. Downside you may have to lose blonde and change into brown 😉

Interesting. You don't see too many women in the model railroading hobby.
Unfortunately not which is a shame as its a great hobby for all
Hey pretty lady, fellow modeler.
Greetings to you 👋

Mebbe Don't overthink it...? 🙂

You need tequila! That kills stress... Relax girl don't think of it as a problem, think of it as a challenge... You'll find the way... The woman in black doesn't give up that easy, does she? 🤔🤔
And one more thing, you're always hot... 😳😳🤭🤭🤭
Thank you 😁 I have moved on to adding fencing and a few trees instead...give me time to ponder on it 😁
With respect, your large house/cottage,do away with it as its too close to the station,it will go somewhere else...close by....it looks like a small halt, and not a main line,so it would never have such an ornate building on the station platform, maybe set back yes, depicting an older time with a disused line in front?.....and a platform,...but not now close to the main line.
Yes I'm not sure it is suitable after all...although at the moment I am toying with the idea of removing Levisham maybe to create more interest
