That wasn't the most clear explanation but I feel like he was overvaluing his contribution to Gabriel's success. Not even debating who is better or whatever, but to say 1/2 of the show is just him doing a Felipe impersonation is quite a stretch. He's a big part of his stories no question but Gabriel's humor doesn't just come from the characters, it is his storytelling ability. Felipe is funny as hell in his own right. I think the cool takeaway is how close friends from the same place, doing the same job and often talking about the same things can do it so differently but equally well. Hopefully in time they can get past their feud.
I can tell you from experience that it's more than 1/2 more like 75% when you take into account that Fluffy stole the jokes, timing, pauses and mannerisms. The material I used to see Felipe hammering out and perfecting in the early 2005-2008 is the same material Fluffy was doing on stage 10 years later. How did he steal the material? Felipe, Fluffy, Edwin San Juan and Jeff Garcia were always traveling, performing and even living together. I used to see these guys in K-town eating Korean food and telling jokes, writing material and busting up the table at 3:00 am after performing.

@@Andrew-qt2ri only if you're talking about staying in the stand-up comedy world. George Lopez is a success story for a stand-up. That should be the dream really, is starting in stand up and moving on to having a comedy show, movies, etc. Jim Carrey, Kevin Hart just naming some quick easy examples.
That bit at the end is some very real shit. No one tells you that's part of growing older, but once you figure it out for yourself life gets a little bit easier, and we all need that. We aren't here to please/get along with everyone even someone you once called a friend. But your also shouldn't live in that feud, life's about moving on. This guy has definitely lived a LIFE
Felipe thank you for taking life by the balls to be yourself, tell jokes and stories we can relate to. Thanks for breaking up the monotony of quarantine . Stay safe and God bless. I got the "enchiladas casserole "
I doubt that anybody would even know this guy's name if it wasn't for Gabriel Iglesias. I just heard of this guy last week and didn't realize till I saw this interview that he was the one Gabriel talked about.
Felipe made a really good point about people and the etiquette for podcasts and talkshows, whether you’re being interviewed or you were the one interviewing those a certain etiquette, consideration, and compassion that you need to have and it goes along way or if you drop the ball it falls flat and doesn’t even bounce if you know what I mean. So, it’s really good to hear Felipe out. I worked on a lot of documentaries and I would always tell the person that were interviewing that if we ask you a question like what color is the sky? It’s not going to make good footage if they just say “Blue“. They need to include the question within their answers so again… What color is the sky? The answer is the sky is blue, some really cool cloud patterns. I’m sure it’s going to be a great sunset today. Etc. n I know it sounds like a little detail, but it really does make a big difference. I tend to be pretty nitpicky about sound quality and I’m surprised so many podcasts. They don’t seem to do a sound check to get the balance levels correct before they do the shoot. I don’t know if the tabletop microphones are a certain style thing or they’re using this props, but it’s always better to do overhead boom very carefully placed mics, those are the wireless mics. I’m not a podcast or myself. and don’t ever plan to be, but I would certainly advise podcasters that they should really study and learn about the art of the interview, and part of that is really knowing the background of the person you’re interviewing. I remember seeing an interview a News person did with Felipe, and she clearly hadn’t done her homework because his jokes went over her head, she didn’t get his style of humor, and she was like non-Latino from the suburbs and probably didn’t get any of the nuances he was talking about, certainly she wouldn’t have gotten some kind of reference to government cheese. That’s for sure and she wouldn’t have known what the word projects is. I would also encourage Podcasters to watch a lot of talk shows and I mean current contemporary ones ones from 10 years ago 20 years ago even 40 years ago, they need to know how the pros did it. There’s a reason why people like Johnny Carson were on TV for so long . He understood the art of humor, the art of listening, the art of the interview, timing, improv how to work off of something someone else said, and at the same time always keeping an eye on the producer and floor Director, giving them some cues as to wrapping it up or The subject, etc. I’ve met a few podcasts who want to reinvent the wheel they don’t wanna know anything about other people and how they do interviews. It’s a shame because in the bigger picture they cheat their audience out of getting really good interviews to watch. I’ll tell you if I was doing a podcast and answering to advertisers as you can believe it I would, try to a few killer home runs out of every episode. Thanks for interviewing Felipe, he’s a really talented cat and I’m sure he’s going to go much further in his career, his Netflix special is great, but I know he’s going to sore much higher perhaps even pass up people like fluffy and jorge lopez for sure. If I wasn’t so burned out after over three decades in the motion, picture industry, I would jump in and produce or become a booking agent and get him some really great gigs and I don’t mean the big money but the big exposure. He should be costarring with some of the great comedians and feature films not just being a , supporting actor or a walk-through cameo but seriously front and center.
Man they ain't beefing, they just stopped being friends. He told you to his face he dont hate him and that he moved on. Why you gotta use the clickbait title? Be better than that.

I think Felipe is probably telling the truth. Just because he handed out tips to your friend and his coworkers doesn't mean fluffy can be a douche bag. I enjoy both their brands of comedy however. 😊
@@Theegoaat He may very well be, but with most folks and especially if you are old, there is probably at least one person out there who doesn't like you.
I worked him and he didn't do that but he did take pictures with us lol
Thanks to this clip I found Felipe Esparza on Joey Diaz's podcast, yeeeessssssss!!!!!
Great news Sunny! Did you see our full interview with Felipe? Subscribe and check it out.
Thanks to this comment I found Felipe Esparza on Joey Diaz’s podcast 😎
Nobody was meant to get along is the mentality that splits people apart...yes we grow and get better but growing means to better yourself as a person. People come and go through seasons of our lives but cherish what each person brought to your life. Appreciate the lessons learned and the relationships built
yeah it seems like felipe kind of doesn't respect people and doesn't care. I can't really tell how or who he is, cause i don't really know him. so idk.
He blatantly said he was the problem by getting drunk and coked out while putting the blame on Gabriel. He has that coke head mentality.
His shirt is legendary to me
Young man you had an opportunity to a really great interview and you dropped the ball. Step your game up and stop being scared - not hating just offering some advice.
He's scaring the poor kid 😂 lol
Been watching Felipe since 2001/2002 on “Que Locos!” Even seen him & Fluffy in El Paso back in 2005. He’s always been hilarious.
The only thing I realize with comics now is that they tell 5 long stories and that’s the whole show. Like I wanna hear consecutive jokes.
Isaac moreno It’s not the 1950s, also there’s so many different types of comedy and comedians. Anthony Jeselnik tells straight 1 liners for an hour and has multiple specials. Story telling is the move right now.
You must be a fan of Rodney Dangerfield. He was a good comedian.
Isaac moreno you should check out Mark Normand then, you’d love him. He’s a brilliant joke writer, absolutely hilarious.
nah dude, ya dont like a job ? Ya tell it to yer bosses face...then ya quit. Ya dont sabotage...ya go and QUIT!
He didn't want to lose his freeride. This dude is a fucking clown. He is needs his ass beat.
Fluffy is so huge that his shows are in demand worldwide, no other Mexican comic has ever reached that level of popularity with fans not only in
America but fans in Europe and Middle
East.
I just realized where I'd seen this guy after I commented a second ago. He was the least funny guy on some stand-up program I watched years ago
Yep his stand-up was called they're not going to laugh at you and I have a feeling that it was called that for a good reason.
Not even George Lopez?
@@Andrew-qt2ri only if you're talking about staying in the stand-up comedy world. George Lopez is a success story for a stand-up. That should be the dream really, is starting in stand up and moving on to having a comedy show, movies, etc. Jim Carrey, Kevin Hart just naming some quick easy examples.
George Lopez and Paul Rodriguez
That bit at the end is some very real shit. No one tells you that's part of growing older, but once you figure it out for yourself life gets a little bit easier, and we all need that. We aren't here to please/get along with everyone even someone you once called a friend. But your also shouldn't live in that feud, life's about moving on. This guy has definitely lived a LIFE
All I heard was a bunch of complaining tbh lol
This guy is not funny. very cringy to watch him speak
@@amberturdcoloringbook1733 he's got some funny material, but both him n Fluffy are *"meh"* tbh
He's channeling the quintessential dad picking up his kid from school lmao
"How was school?"
"Good."
"What did you do?"
"Just learned stuff"
I’ve always wondered what Felipe looked like… Almost 15 years later, my curiosity has settled
His look is absolutely awesome. Love this guy. Not too different from Texas Mexican Americans.
Felipe thank you for taking life by the balls to be yourself, tell jokes and stories we can relate to. Thanks for breaking up the monotony of quarantine . Stay safe and God bless. I got the "enchiladas casserole "
"What do you do when you are not happy in a job..." makes sense!
This is such a great video of Felipe interviewing himself
😂😂
He's so blunt I fuking love him lol
Never go in business with friends.
Definitely don’t like this side of Felipe. Remember the old Felipe who remembered how he got here? What a jerk.
Sounds bitter af
I doubt that anybody would even know this guy's name if it wasn't for Gabriel Iglesias. I just heard of this guy last week and didn't realize till I saw this interview that he was the one Gabriel talked about.
Tom Vet actually a lot of people find him because of his stand up which mentions NOTHING about Gabriel Iglesias
I never knew he was Felipe ! From Iglesias jokes I thought it was a different Felipe lol 😆
The Big Chewbacca Esparza is describing the guy and interview him at the same time ☠️
“Beef” 😂💀 should’ve used another word for these two 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Start video at 2:49 ... You're Welcome!
Talking about lunch Felipe looked like he was eyeing the young guy as a burrito for LUNCH
💀💀💀
Etc. n
I know it sounds like a little detail, but it really does make a big difference.
True , sometimes they are holding the good stuff for other shows
2:09 "oh, word?"
Shout out to Felipe. He was the first headliner I've seen here in San Antonio.
No shit #210

I never knew they were beefing. Good shit on getting the scoop Joel!
Thanks Pete. We didn't know either but glad he was willing to share that news with us.
I always found Felipe way funnier!
Romman Most is the world disagrees with you. As does Netflix. And Gabriel’s 5 specials.
Man they ain't beefing, they just stopped being friends. He told you to his face he dont hate him and that he moved on. Why you gotta use the clickbait title? Be better than that.
@@immigrant503 u cut and paste this alot
Fluffy fans like Kevin Hart. Felipe fans like Katt Williams. Just facts. 🎯 💯
Felipe is the most underrated Hispanic standup comic.
The Iglesias,Lopez and others still don’t have nothing on this guy.
Wow!!!!
Yea , He chose not to swallow like the other guys
Wow!!!!
@A Z mr Lopez steals jokes
Wow!!!!
@A Z so your starting to sound like George
Wow that !!!
@A Z the thing Is that means
Nothing apparently
Wow!!!
Interviewer: "Guest on the show, can you tell us what happened?"
Guest: "Something"
Tf is this clickbait, literally portraying Gabriel Iglesias giving his opinion when he's not in the video
Good interview!
Hey thanks! 🙏
Good enough time subscribe??
Wait this is the Felipe that Fluffy has talked about in his stand up?
Yep! The one who in Que Locos said "Hey! You guys in the trunk keep it down!" in front of the immigration officer stopping him and Fluffy 😂
The same 'Does this mean I can keep my weed?' guy.
Bomb ass interview! Great conversation! ✌🏼
Am still team fluffy
Same fooo but Felipe
even with his diabetes fake smiling?
Nitty Gritty what are you talking about who cares if he has diabetes

4:06 when he looks at the camera like he’s in the office 🎥 👀 ✨
Isn't Felipe the guy that would say "Fool" in the jokes? lmao
I remember I saw him and Gabe do a show at the Punchline in SF back in 06. Gabe’s stories about him were better because we saw Felipe open and got who he was. It’s funny seeing this now.
Ignore these comments! Great interview great quality!, thought this was a 100k + channel! subbed!
Wow thank you for the kind words and sub! We're in the early days of this show and excited to have you join the Hot Breathiverse!
