Drawing a Portrait in Profile

This is a portrait drawing demo in profile using willow charcoal. It's a time lapse and has been edited a bit to keep it fairly short. This was about a 45 minute effort in real time. Thanks! The holder is just a pencil extender actually. I use some tape to make the willow sticks roughly the same diameter.

this is so satisfying to watch. what's the tool used to hold the charcoal called, and also what kind of charcoal are you using?

Thanks Ethan! The holder is just a pencil extender, I wrap a bit of tape around the charcoal so it fits. The charcoal is willow charcoal, very similar to vine charcoal. Thanks again!

Thanks! The paper is Strathmore 300 series 70# white drawing paper. The size is a little bigger than A4 (9"x12"). Thanks again!

Thank you! I worked with Photoshop for many years, more photo manipulation than digital painting, but I did some of that too.
