- The complex operation to reopen the Port of Baltimore after the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge is underway. Several cranes, including the largest floating crane on the East Coast, recently arrived at the site, and more vital equipment is on the way.

What a colossal task. Just think of the physics makes my head ache. Some sections will be under disproportional pressure and tension so the cutting could be very tricky. Imagine cutting down a tree leaning at a 45 degree angle. Once something snaps, things go flying. In this case its heavy steel.
I wonder if they considered using cutting explosives to basically demolish the larger pieces and break them into pieces the cranes will be able to lift. Not to mention the difficulty of using cutting torches underwater.
However they do it, I can only hope for they are able to do it safely. More losses would only compound this tragedy.
Lord, have mercy. Help the work proceed safely and efficiently.

The pieces are too heavy to airlift. They will have to be cut into smaller sizes. Even if Airlifting were possible. The risk of snagging Could pull any helicopter into the water.
When a new bridge is constructed surround each pier between which ships pass with what is tantamount to an oval-shaped island of rock and soil about 200 feet long in the direction of travel and 100 feet wide. A coffer dam on the perimeter makes placement easy. A few piles driven into the seabed extending into each mass provides even greater stability. Material for each island dredged from the seabed benefits the channel. Relative to the cost of the bridge this is an inexpensive and effective solution that will prevent piers from being dislodged.

Ultimately the families of the deceased will get compensation from the owners of the ship but there is NOTHING criminal as this thing is CLASSIC "something went terribly wrong but could NOT have been foreseen"......

Patience. Too early in the investigation for charges potentially being brought up and pressed. For now, the incident has been preliminarily determined to be purely accidental but that could change as the investigation progresses, if it progresses at all whatsoever. And, if it does, let's hope it is real and thorough instead of a sham and half-a****** if any a****. These things take time. Ok?
Now if it turns out that there's any charges to bring up and press, involuntary manslaughter must definitely be one of them. Since the Dali has, reportedly, been involved in several other incidents, most notably hitting the quayside of the bridge in Antwerp, Belgium in 2016 and, apparently, its problems have not been addressed yet, at least not satisfactorily, Synergy Group, which owns the Dali and is, according to the news, a Sri Lankan-owned ship, while many dunderheads claim it's Chinese-owned or Singaporean-flagged (I used to believe the latter until this video) does not change the assumed facts. But, again, that could change as we get more information and understanding. RIHP to all who lost their lives and sending 💕, 🤗🤗 and 🙏🏽🙏🏽 to their grieving loved ones!
This is incredible. Who could have imagined that without Gustavo Torres, the executive director of CASA 02:07, this cleanup is only now just beginning an hour ago. Very inspiring. The only part i do not agree with is the last fellow. Despite his claim of it being his job to help rebuild, he will only do so when asked. We need workers in there willing to take initiative in getting the job done. The last thing needed is some overweight couch potato who won't do a thing unless asked.

The title of this video is incorrect. The bridge did not collapse. The bridge was hit by a ship which caused it's collapse. There is a difference. The title makes it seem like the bridge collapsed on it's own, but it was the ship that destroyed the bridge. They need to stop leaving out important details in their titles. That ship was responsible for the damage and the lives.

The work crews had a couple of minutes to get off the bridge. Nothing crossed that bridge for 40 seconds before the bridge collapsed. No frantic work crews running to warn motorists. What you see on the video cameras does not match up with the narrative. The two men in the truck...were they asleep? Was their radio off? How come they made no attempt to get off the bridge? Several work trucks no moving. I count 3 just sitting there. Video does not lie but people do. Or, should we just accept more pabulum from corrupt government agencies.

I just thought about it and bridges don't get potholes, it's not like a road built on the ground. It would just get a hole that you could fall though there isn't any dirt underneath it, only air, can't fill that hole, don't have to be white to know that. "If" there were potholes to fill, you have to do it in the summer because the asphalt and sealant won't cure properly. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and go look at the side of a bucket of asphalt, read the instructions, all the fine print, comprehend the words, actually learn for yourself, maybe you do have to be white to do somethings.
U are EXTREMELY WRONG ON THAT!!My fiance works in Paving fabrics,he does state highways & bridges all over the United States!He does work every year on the key bridge as well as the bay bridge too here in Maryland where we are both from & live at.And the roads on our Key bridge were EXACTLY like a regular road!They would get deteriorating over time,pot holes,& the list goes wayyy on,just like a regular road!That's why it would have to have these things repaired,before they would eventually become a more massive serious problem!And what these men were on the bridge doing is actually called "Crackfill".They used Liquid Asphalt that's so hot it can melt your skin off!And it can be used in both hot & cold weather!!(And this information came straight from my fiance who's been working in this industry since he was 17 years old,he's now 35!)And they don't use supplies from "Home Depot" either!They use industrial products,that are specially orderd from a supply company!!And those industrial products can be used in any type of weather!And men have to go thru training to be able to do Crackfill at their companies too!!Do your research & get the facts first,before u speak on something u know absolutely NOTHING about!HAPPY EASTER!

Could the loss of life be because those workers don't speak/understand english. They didn't know or understand to get off bridge because of the danger? Maybe Maryland state/ DOT should be sued? Gotta get those labor costs down right Maryland?
Very unlikely. There are too many channels to go through to get the word out in time. These guys were working with heavy equipment that also interferes with rapid communication.

I guess you don't value their lives, otherwise you wouldn't make excusses for why they didn't know/understand to vacate the bridge immediately. The foreman should have a radio and if they (crews) were inside trucks on a break it should have radio communications to alert them of something.
