What about Ruan Venter? He is normally a flanker but he has size and length. Can he play lock in the future?

If limited to who has played in Australia, in a pinch you'd be looking at PSDT, BJD, Elrigh Louw to fill that void.
Which means you start Wiese at no.8, freeing Elrigh to shift to no. 7 or lock, or utility cover.
Otherwise you call in a JLD, Jenkins, van Heerden or similar option.
At the end of the day, good thing to build in contingency plans this far out from a WC

Wouldn't be surprised if Rassie moves PSDT to 5 next to Eben with Nortje on the bench. This also gives the Boks 4 loose forwards on the field or possibly 5 if Marx is on.
Not a huge problem, mpilo G phepsi, du preez brothers etc etc etc waiting in line just need to get them familiar with the game plan

The Spring Bok's need to win every game to retain there position as number one in the world...that is such a huge massive role to have on their backs, however they have an impressive team and only time will tell if they will remain the number one rugby squad...good luck for this weekends championship against the All Blacks.
Seems like RG Snyman’s Viking blood is not flowing properly. He gets injured a lot.
This is the lack of off season coming home to roost. The move north has been largely positive but the the top players really are playing to much rugby. It was only a matter of time till the top line players started breaking down. They aren't machines

Well… seeing they need to scramble to get the locks sorted, they might as well start PSDT at 4, BJD at 5, Louw at 7 and Wiese at 8. No matter what they do, won’t be any worse than getting locks from the franchises completely out of the blue

Ben J Dixon played at lock for the Stormers. Why didn't they bring back Marvin Orie? He was in the World Cup squad and he can call the lineouts.
Peter Stef can step in very comfortably but hopefully etsebeth stays healthy otherwise a true disaster !
Fake injuries here Rassie is planning a suprise attacking force against ABs , won't be suprise if we see a 7/1 or 8/0 with Moodie /Kolbe /arendse /Sacha on 12/15 and Fassie , expect the attacking force from the Boks

We are the World Champion and rank no 1 in the world for a reason, we have a depth squad vesatile players that could play any position , Rassie is a smart Coach knows his troops very well , we shouldn't be worried abt players who have injuries ,we are the world champion 4 a reason trust me,😊
It’s not about trust here. Snyman and Etzebeth are critical locks in the Bok lineup. We wouldn’t have won the World Cup without them. When playing against New Zealand and Ireland you need your very best team on the pitch. We’re lucky that New Zealand is also lacking in that department at the moment, they didn’t bring their best locks.

He's probably played like 10 games in 4 years...

He needs to be kept in the squad, so if he is fit he can play ... But agree he should not be relied upon and they need to carry an extra youngster or two in the squad for the next 2 years to shadow him and Eben.
