  • This is how I went about installing a Sustainiac system in an Ibanez guitar. I am not able to give estimates on installs without the guitar in hand.
    Please note that I am not a dealer in Sustainiac products.

    Swear I've seen this video like 3 times whenever I'm suddenly interested in a sustainiac, but I'm always impressed by just how perfect of a job is done here. The control cavity being that neat is just so satisfying and i really like the extra step in covering the sustainiac electronics. Just a perfect job

    This is amazing. I’ve been looking for videos to give a better idea of what goes into an installation for a sustainiac, so thank you so much for the demonstration!!!

    It would’ve been great to see you actually route the battery cavity and the pick up cavity as well, what approach you used bit, etc. installing all that stuff is the easy part cutting the wood on your guitar would be the challenge for most

      I'm here for the same reason. I have an unnamed 7 string Ibanez which I'm assuming is some sort of RG made in 2003 and I want to install an Sustaniac system in. I'm not afraid of working on it because when I was a teenager, I did one hell of a job refinishing it so I'm thinking I might as well redo the paint job while I'm at it. I have a router and a Dremel but I'd have to buy the proper bits. The gears in my head are turning haha

    I am looking to install some Sustainiacs in an older Schecter Blackjack ATX from the late 2000s. It is my work horse, but agter years of using EMG Xs, I want to get more „modern“ picks: Sustainiac for the neck and Fishman Fluence for the bridge pick up. Is that at all a possible combination to have?

    • @chrisboller46
      @chrisboller46 Год назад +2

      It is but you'll need room for two 9v batteries, one for the Fluences and one for the Sustainiac. Really wish these didn't take up so much space.

    Great job man! One question, the sustainiac humbucker can split? I mean what happened in the second position of the pickups selector? When it splits the neck humbucker and plays it together with the middle single pickup. Thanks!

    • @MillCityLutherie
      @MillCityLutherie  Месяц назад

      It's not a humbucker at all. One side is just a plastic shell to make it look like a humbucker so it can replace a humbucker without looking weird.

    • @NostalgicGuitar
      @NostalgicGuitar Месяц назад

      @@MillCityLutherie what?🤯 Do you wanna tell me that they're all single coils? The sustainiac humbucker that I have on my schecter is actually a single coil? So in conclusion you're not "losing" the second position? Thanks for the reply!

  • @randygray8273

    Does this particular sustainiac bypass the selector switch?

  • @FlyingSquirrelTony
    @FlyingSquirrelTony Год назад

    I want to do this, but I have a single master volume and a 3 way LP toggle, and the only drilling I want to do is the on/off switch. I can have the mode just set to mix without a switch.

    • @MillCityLutherie
      @MillCityLutherie  Год назад +1

      Contact Sustainiac directly. They will draw up a wiring diagram for your specific layout, and if the switching can be done they will let you know.

    I’d like to do this with both of my Jackson Kellys. I have EMG 57/66 pickups, but one of them already has a battery cavity for an AB220 boost controller that I had installed from Sweetwater. How much would a job like this cost? I’m very interested in getting this done 😊

    • @metallicaspiker16
      @metallicaspiker16 Год назад

      Edit that may make the install a bit less complicated:
      Instead of using EMGs, I’ll be going back to Seymour Duncan with both guitars. I’ll be using a PATB-2 Distortion Parallel Axis in both guitars.

    is it possible to remove those switches from the board and run them to the board via some separate leads? i have two switches on a soloist im trying to replace that arent the same locations as the board.

    • @MillCityLutherie
      @MillCityLutherie  Год назад +1

      It's possible, but I would ask Sustainiac directly if they could sell it to you that way. Without proper soldering tools you could damage something.

    • @MillCityLutherie
      @MillCityLutherie  9 месяцев назад

      Les Pauls and Floyds don't go together well. LP is too thick of s body and the trem needs to be too high off the body. A modified LP design would work.

    Never paired sustainiac with passive pickup they won't work well
    I have a schecter elite with fishman fluence modern active pickup and work great but I install dimarzio don't work well then reinstall emg active work great then reinstall seymour duncan won't work well

    • @MillCityLutherie
      @MillCityLutherie  Год назад +2

      The driver needs to be wired differently for active or passive pickups. Their polarity is different. Consult the sustainiac website for what to do.
