Hey shantanu I am just 17 years old right now currently preparing for my Engineering entrance exam and watching your podcast give me that's of kick for being an entrepreneur even though I am from teir 2 city and from a middle class as well but I want to take risk and wanna create my own valuable startup. Keep this work up and thank you for such a great podcast ❤🤗
These videos are not less than any high-quality educational programs. Best practices, Vision, history, future ....everything in just 2 hrs. Shantanu Deshpande kudos 👏
Probably the best episode on Barbershop. A wealth of information throughout this 2+ hour chat. Capturing a few key points dealt in great depth that are extremely important for the founders: 1. Liquidation preference - Participating, Non-participating and its consequences while signing term-sheet 2. ESOPs - Wow that was seriously some insight on constructing an ESOP pool, and the downside of having a larger pool from dilution stand-point 3. Trade-off between Compensation & Secondary Exit and the perception around secondary. And a nuanced point on management compensation hitting P&L. 4. That Sting, Redbull, Asian Paints market study was amazing.. All in all, top class podcast! A must watch for all founders and people in the startup ecosystem.
8:29 - Market wins always doesn't matter if its good market bad founder or bad market and great founders. 9:18 - Best founders navigate worst markets and create new markets 18:40 - Founder grades 19:10 - Founder sets goals and then generate resources. They don't take resources then set goals. 42:38 - It's not about the years of experience but the number of experiences
Excellent insights! Thank you, Shantanu; you are an inspiration to entrepreneurs. Btw, one small request: your fund only invests in post-revenue firms and invests up to 30L-2 Cr. How about developing a small batch of 5-7 exceptional pre-revenue startups in which you and your group of investors can invest just 10-30L? You can still have your ten checks before inviting, but that will really help because we need mentorship the most at that time especially for solo founders.
Shantanu, bro. CEO of Doctor Towels here. Started watching you last year when I was 18 and I started exponentially learning from you. Today, I'm glad to tell you we are nearing towards 20 crores this year. Thanks for everything you teached me. 🙏
I need NPS here on youtube to express how much I love the show. Just a like is not doing justice to convey the magnitude of my interest and support. Why do we need it? All the likes on the video although are less (probably would always be less because of obvious reasons) but the intensity of “likeness” are very high!! Shantanu keep doing this. ❤
Hey Shantanu. 1 hour into the episode i realised you could just have someone craft definitions of certain terms that might be alien to the users. Could be in comment, maybe you can start a micro site where people could just understand theory from each episode. Would be a great idea to give more value to the users.
What would be more valuable for the barbershop audience? 1. How to spot great/good markets with large profit pools? Or 2. How to spot a great founder or rather what qualities a great/good founder should have?
This is amazing content...you are seriously answering major questions. A lot of people have ideas you know, but what lacks in them is courage...this is courage. 😇
it is such a delight to listen to curious, driven and articulate folks. Beech beech mei is Shantanu trying to sway Avnish in his corner?? Great episode guys :D
Shantanu sir, I have a question for you. My name is Pranab Saha and I am studying in 10th grade. The question is: What should I do now which will ensure that I am successful in the future and give returns that are disproportionate to the effort I put in ?
You will figure it out. Don't worry.. What you do in age 13 to 20 shapes your life, shapes the neurons in your brain. If you are watching such interviews at this age, that is good.
Hey Pranab! Success doesn’t come overnight l! You have earn it day by day! You need to ask yourself before you move forward! Where do you want see yourself in future! You have to align your interests in that field and get as much information as you can! Once you feel that You are ready to deep dive into that! Jump into that! Understand what can add value to the customers! Know your customer well, design market fit products!
Bhai 10th ka exam de de pehle acche se...sab bolte hai marks are not everything but agar kum number aaye na toh Shantanu bhaiyya apni hajaam ki dukaan pe bhi nahi rakhege tumhe 😂😂😂
Recant said "market me fraud ho raha hai" and today sequoia's portfolio company directly competing with revant's Company mojocare has been put under radar for financial irregularities.
Quick Question : Is it possible for a founder to raise money given that the founder is a solo founder and does not have a pedigree like an IIT or IIM. And at a very young age like 21-22 year olds
if you also here to listen conversation on "Sting" , because I came for that only and it took 10 minutes to search that part here is quick shortcut- 50:25
@Thebarbershop team, firstly, thanks to you folks for creating such inspiring educational content. I generally don't comment but for this video I don't know why the audio quality felt much poor, you should check if that's really an issue for this episode.
Put like a buzz campaign naa before posting. I want to know which day and what time the episode is coming. People actually care and want to watch it as it releases.
Dear investor, USER EXPERIENCE 1 YR, OLA = Untrusty company. Unethical marketing. Zero value for customer. ANYONE LOOKING TO TAKE OLA SCOOTER CHANGE UR MIND. IT'S WASTE MONEY AND TIME. 2 MONTHS MY BIKE WAS DEAD. MY EXPERIENCE WAS WORST. THEY ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR SALES. EXTRACT MAX MONEY FROM U
New scam by @OlaElectric Customers has to pay the extended warranty within 1 year or else can't do that. My scooter was dead for 2 month and OLA didn't do nothing. Now they are calling and (hv cal rcding)if u didnt do it today (15, Dec, 2023) u can't do it anymore. Disappointed

This episode is toooo heavy! Full learning packed inside. I have to make notes and had to listen at 1x
Share here if you can
Underrated, had to slow down from 1.5 use an AI(ish) tool to summarize format. Stop at 15 min mark to do all this.
This is an amazing conversation 🔥

A podcast while having 'Absinthe' would be interesting ! 😅
Asian Paints is a professional company with no Promoter involvement since many decades.
Solid podcast - the sound quality seems to be a little off though. Please check

It was truly amazing Watched it in one go
I don't really understand half the terms used, it would be great if you can have explanation text pop up from time to time to explain these.
