My Grandparents were married for 71 years. My Grandma passed away 3 years ago at 98 years old and My Grandpa passed away a couple months ago at 98. The end of a bygone era. They shared a room at a nursing home and the nurses told me it was incredibly rare to have couples together. My grandpa went into the nursing home with my grandma even though he didn’t need to. I’d walk into their room and they’d be sitting in their wheelchairs holding hands and watching Wheel of Fortune, Curling, Golf, or Jeopardy, their favorites.
