Thank you so much Ron for your video.. This is my first year putting out a house, and tubes for the mason bees. I'm hopeful they will like the flowers and environment I've created for them. Thank you again!

Got some mason bees coming soon. I have about 35 fruit trees and countless other perennial flowers. I hope I gave them a good place to live and grow.

Vwet nice vidio Ron! I am a Master Gardener from Boise. One of my favorite things about our program is teaching kids about gardening and nature. As I saw in your video, they get so excited, and want to learn.

I saw a video from Taos master gardener class last night. Even talking about Ladybugs is really interesting apparently ladybugs all go hibernate in the winter in the same place. When you buy ladybugs at the nursery they usually harvested from these places. I learned that ladybugs have a waxy coating under their wing specifically to help them hibernate through the winter. So when they come out of hibernation they are motivated to fly a lot to get rid of the wax. Which is why when you buy ladybugs at a nursery they fly away. The bug lady, as she’s called, So I never buy ladybugs at the nursery for these reasons. One is you reduce the natural population into they’re not gonna hang around anyway. If you get a chance to watch the video I recommended

I bought some mason bee cocoons from the internet and implanted them in my mason bee house made of wooden pipes. After emerging out of their coccoons every single mason bee left their pipe homes. How do I get them to stay inside their homes that i have created for them?

Any advise for cold climate considerations? I am a zone 3 Minnesota climate.... we have about a month in winter where subzero temperatures have a long bitter cold period. I want to have a positive experience and make sure i learn how to be a good provider to them. I absolutely loved this video.... I will always look twice at flies just to make sure it isnt a lovely mason bee

When the cold comes (late fall like end of October) put the nest into a slightly warmer and sheltered area like inside a shed. Take out in the spring when it hasn’t snowed for a while.

I'm a Washingtonian but I love OPB. Does it disturb the females for the nest to be examined while she is in the process of filling the nest tubes?

Bamboo isn’t the best material for bees, it can harbor mites.
