My uncle used to have Willie come out to LA every year to play a show in his backyard. I gotta tell you, those were some of the most amazing experiences I have ever had from a musical perspective. Willie is unmatched live both vocally and instrumentally. He’s also one of the nicest guys you’d ever meet.

Willy sings wonderfully. But the groove is his true church. The world, musicians, and society inherently move, rush and panic forward at a breakneck rate. But Willy - Nah... he just sits in a pocket you could fly two 737's through, and still have room for carry on. It's his form of breathing.
This is a very good example of someone who has obvious musical talent but has no idea how to express genuinely with it, so instead tries to look cool doing it.
