Thomas - This song was notably where I wanted to step it up as far as the guitar work and interplay went for the band. Going back and reworking the tune, it still stands out as both fun to play, and pleasing to listen to, with its melodic and energetic leads.
Andrew - I remember showing up to practice and hearing Mike Munro (the second guitarist in The 30 Years War) and Thomas practicing the main guitar lead from this song, and freaking out internally, because it was so beautiful and technical, but wanting to play it super cool because we were still getting to know each other. When we recorded this version of the song, I played all the drums alone and I remember having to restart a million times because I kept doing the wrong number of measures in the verse. It's always weird how a song morphs in the absence of other players, and the hypnotic nature of the verse had me spinning and missing the exit over and over. The super hopeful/tough bridge in this song is notable because it's original incarnation was one of the first delay pedal-driven melodies written for the band, and it contains lyrics we cannibalized for a part in the final track from our first full-length, 'What Sound Does A Mastodon Make?'. Mike contributed some amazing lyrics and melodies, and "The docks held still time's hand with each wave" is high on my list of favorites by him.

Eleano Rion this is REALLY off topic and could be overstepping, but I have a dear friend diagnosed with asperberger’s. He is 19. I can’t say his age the diagnosis and the following are absolutely related, however, I was listening to Think and Grow Rich on Audiobook and the whole time I was thinking, jeez Aidan does all the stuff, except for the part about working along side others with the same goal and purpose. His skill at manifestion and transmutation is unmatched in my life. Tom must have heard the lessons from that book in his youth. He adjusts when he fails and uses notes to analyze what he did wrong so he can do better. It’s amazing to a fart like me who flounders about learning technical things all day when I should be learning how to have faith and be confident.

Any chance you could release a version where the vocals aren't EQ'd to sound like it was sung through a megaphone? I want some depth to the singing with emotion. Shrill vocals missed the mark for me. Other than that, thank you FOT/30YW! You rock.
