You'll be able to understand sentences if you know the context and a few words
You'll be able to converse simple things make broken sentences up to say a little more complex sentences. (For ex: "I like strawberries" and "strawberry-no-like-very-sour") you could kind of be understood

This is so simple and yet so true. Hyunwoo Ssaem is right. I have acquired a high intermediate/advanced fluency level and I've never lived in Korea. I have however used TTMIK products from the beginning. It's very high quality. I've gone through all of the grammar lessons and the IYAGI podcasts and I'm excited for this next set of lessons! I hate reading (even in English), but the podcasts and videos make it so much fun to learn!! I sincerely don't think I'd be able to speak Korean this well without having used TTMIK.

Connect and collect is essentially an advance mindmap in my opinion. Beginning mindmaps tend to collect words in a certain category like fruit, homegoods and so on, but connecting word parts to each other requires a lot more thought and study.... for me, a LOT more study ㅠㅠ

I've been stuck at the low intermediate level for ages and I just started to actually improve after I joined a korean company here in Mexico. I thought my level was quite okay until I had to start writing all of my emails in korean and attend the meetings with the korean crew, and I realized that I didn't know anything about business korean or this very specific vocabulary we use at the company. My boss used to get frustrated with me like "I thought you knew korean!" and I was like of course but when in my daily basis would I talk to my friends or husband about logistic terms or who else in my close circle of friends would i talk to the same way i talk to the 법인장? 😖 fortunately after two years I feel much more confident and tho I don't consider myself on the advanced level yet, i feel much closer! (also thanks to TTMK! hehe)

I am actually in "pre-intermediate" level, and I've been feeling so bad because I feel stuck. Somehow my motivation started to lack, or not being enough to keep me going. I'm getting some energy through the videos of the channel. The part that says about "GAPS" is a big point. Sometimes I tried to study but I got angry seeing that I had to go back see again something I should already have stuck in my head! I think this make my motivation shake sometimes too. But now I'm trying to start over again, first filing up those gaps. Hope it work and I start improving again :(

As expected, my hopeful guess for the mystery new website addition, that I thought would be the best possible thing that could be added, was wrong. Instead, as always, it exceeded my expectations and is even more "exactly what I've been needing to progress" than what I was hoping for. Just like every other time you've been introducing new things.
I suppose that this is what makes you good teachers. You know exactly what the students need, far better than they will know themselves (which is not to say students' self-evaluation at strengths and weaknesses is irrelevant, of course). It is very nice to know that, even when we don't yet know exactly what is coming, we can count on it being excellent as your track record shows that you are highly competent professionals who will make excellent choices.
I didn't mean to over-indulge in flattery or anything, this is your business after all, so it is not as if it's unexpected that you are good at your jobs. I just think it's nice to give credit where credit is due, and to make sure you know that the resources your business provides are very well received and much appreciated :)

I feel like this is the kind of videos that makes you understand that not only do they explain Korean in a proper English manner, but they also KNOW their teaching skills. I've seen so many videos trying to teach Korean but just because they could speak Korean, made few mistakes in explaining grammar or verb tense... Speaking and being able to teach is so different, and it's very comforting to confirm that TTMIK teachers know what they're talking about. So thank you !

Thank you so much! I was really struggling to the point I typed “how should I study korean from intermediate stage” and was directed to this video which was very helpful. And through this I’ve noticed my weakness, I’m not putting enough effort, which I’m about to change from This moment. Thank you so much, 그리고 여러분들 화이팅 💪🏽.

This was great!! Im intermediate and Im having such a hard time to find what i need to focus on to grow to advanced. I have been doing it more naturally, as i have a hard time sitting down and study by myself. Hearing this i notice I need to start focusing more on reading as I can do it at my own pace and look things up more easily. Time to open my korean HP book again haha

Recently listened to audiobook of Becoming Fluent by Richard Roberts and Roger Kreuz, which goes into a lot of detail about the different levels of language ability (fluency and proficiency) and what is required to move from one to the next. I recommend it if you found the points in this video helpful and want to consider more ways to “level up”.

I am not at the point where I am switching from intermediate to advanced yet, but this video tells so much truth. This is not the first language I learn, so I could at least compare it to my former experiences. It's true that once we get to a certain level, we don't put as much effort because we have enough to understand pretty much everything. The reality is that most of that is just intuition from the context we do understand. Thank you for these tips, the lessons, the courses on your website, and the constant motivation. 감사합니다!

I would recommend the 수따 타임 podcast on talktomeinkorean, and the 이야기 series too. Listen multiple times before checking your knowledge with the transcript. They're so useful. My reading skills are also stronger than listening, so I find this helps train my ear. I also like watching vloggers and gamers without subtitles so I'm not depending on Korean or English subs instead of actively listening.

I'm a learner of Korean who started way too late in life and who can't seem to untangle spoken Korean in my head at all (I'm better with written), none of this is for me. I'll never get to an advanced level. However, from the perspective of a language teacher, I love gaining new perspectives into helping students overcome their plateaus.

현우씨, 9:12 - that's how I always feel about you listening to your English! I hope that doesn't sound rude. Your English is impeccable and you hardly have an accent at all. It inspires me! I hope some day I can speak Korean even half as well as your English!!
