Don't cheap out on safety equipment. You'll thank yourself 20 years later. Get yourself a proper respirator and make sure the filters actually filter out the paint and gasses.
In urban environments these days, tagging is the way mate. Wearing crazy industrial face masks and lugging big rucksacks jangling with 26 cans through Central London, Paris, NY and so is absolutely insane lad. Tags rules and stealth is key, also stickers are a huge thing. This isnt Style Wars mate (I wish it was). Out here in the real world markers rule supreme, as mops are unfortunately more delicate, more particularly thicker pump action markers rule, a 60mm marker will line is as thick as or thicker than a spray can, plus it drips, stains, defeats the buff, is more economical on liquid to line ratio and more cost effective, it's also much more precise, there's a million reasons but the game has changed. Yes a few older guys still do that star wars jawa industry madness, they also get arrested for it because its just mad and less effective than hitting 75 bus shelters with a 75mm mop. Next day there throwie on McDonald's is gone because paint just isn't permanent and they are not on ankle tag because their old legs couldn't run with that insane Bane mask and a midgets weight in cans. I applaud them though, gota live the old heads. Can you imagine racking 50 cans 😂😂😂, they have to run out of stores with it in trollies and stuff 😂😂😂, again - insane. Ink from ball pens is highly concentrated you can mix it down x30, 3 packs of 30 pens from the dollar store = equivalent of 25+ cans worth of writing, I know what I'd rather rack or buy, 😂.
1:49 This is some of the best advice you can give any writer starting out. There no reason to even waste money on fancy supplies in the begging. Graff has always had sort of a DIY element to it which can be half the fun for some people. I've seen some fire ass work done from the bare essentials (where do you think rollers can from)
This is really well thought out and delivered. I'm a former art teacher and I am technically exceptional as this is an intergenerational career. I'm even teaching my nephew so that he can be our 6th generation artist since he's so interested. Graffiti is so new to me. It's so different. I'm in that spot where I'm experienced in art but also super new to this entirely different genre and philosophy in action. I don't have my speed where I'd like and my typography is probably mid when I'm used to being advanced in my field. Graffiti falls into my take on the philosophy of the "anti artist" where I reject the classical definition of art and the commodification that limits it being seen by people via financial caste. Public installation or education is the most valuable in my book. Destroy aristocracy and deploy subversion through hijacking the narrative! Anyways thank you and I'm really excited that you put this content out
I really would love to get my paws on them to try them out myself. But sine it's easier to obtain Edding markers here I mainly use those and am fully satisfied with their performance. Which doesn't mean I wouldn't try other markers to figure out which ones are best for myself.
@Sopamopa yeh I guess they're basically most popular in germany. I'm not sure how available they are in other countries. I mean I could get other markers too, but that would be import which would make them even more expensive. I guess that's why I stuck with Edding since it's easily available and relatively affordable here
The gloves are very essential to me. Disposals are great to go out bombing with because if any running or anything needs to happen. Not having paint on the hands can save you jail time or a fine lol
I absolutely love your videos as source for learning. The rest is practicing. Thank you so much for providing well described yet simple to understand information. It really helps me on my own journey. Please keep going pal!
5:10 consider getting finger glove cots, they are cheap, disposable, easy to carry and overall a good alternative to gloves. it gives a lot of control.
If there’s anybody that wants some cheap, quality, alcohol markers, I’ve used ohuhu alcohol markers and I can say their quality is amazing, especially for the price, I’ve had mine for a couple years and they’ve been amazing.
What makes can control difficult is there is no tactile feedback like with any kind of marker or other non-aerosol tool, this makes it the hardest to master but also probably most rewarding to improve in.
thanks for the video. i recommend *_OfficeWorks_*_ (all or most of au) for _Paint Markers_ like posca (unfortunately no others apart from posca , _Especially Spray Cans like montana_ , and sketch markers. the other one *_UnionHeights_* (in melbourne and maybe somewhere else) for basically everything i listed and other stuff in your video + others
Random question about the paint markers: I've got the "pen" type KRINK markers, but is the K-60 the one that provides that thicker and smoother line? I'm finding that these pen markers are not really reliable for long fast tags. like if I'm going fast with my hand it'll just run out (although I'm not pushing hard enough bc my first mark had a lot of drip on accident).
@youfosignhere im from sydney, and ive actually tried going to my local post office (Australia Post) and asked the cashier for address stickers. THEY LEGIT GAVE THEM TO ME ON THE SPOT FOR FREE.

No airbrush and compressor? Like sure short term spray paint might seem cheaper, but long term airbrush is just straight up better in most aspects. more control, cheaper paint,
I used to make my own ink for mops and my Gma found my ink bottle when I was like 14 and she swore I was huffing paint I was like nahhhhhhhhh never that lol it took me till I was 20 to convince her I wasn’t (you should stress how you don’t need montanas to be good I knew a few people that thought that’s what made people good)
Unpopular opinion(?): i dont like blackbooks. (A) the spine makes it diffcult to manuver/placre flat when drawing and (b) black books become state's evidence and will be used against you in a court of law
Well, on the other hand, they help you get out of being a toy way faster because ur practicing. From personal experience, they pigs will wait at least a couple of days before raiding ur house if ur caught, so in that time u can throw away the evidence. Just my opinion tho.
Glad you guys enjoyed!
