    comparing a 20 or more year old pajero vs 5 year old Duster is not exacly fair fight.

    • @joshjamesguitar
      @joshjamesguitar 3 года назад +3

      It kind of is because the shogun has a proper 4x4 system with difflocks etc and better suspension travel. It has the advantage compared to the Duster which is an SUV and designed for very light offroading

    • @TheS3GG
      @TheS3GG 3 года назад +5

      Its unfair for the Duster in true off road terms. The Pajero Sport is a true body on frame 4x4 vehicle.

    • @carlosamaral6917
      @carlosamaral6917 3 года назад +2

      @@joshjamesguitar It has a transfer case. No difflocks.

      @@joshjamesguitar Plus the advantages of the Pajero are barely none, beacause it's basically a huge and overweight underpowered car. Like the Dacia, it was designed during 90's for light offroading and urban life just like all the other Pajeros. On the other hand, the Dacia is superlight, smaller and agile which makes it better for offroading and driving in town. However I would still prefer any Pajero to a Dacia Duster, because the Mitsu has a much bigger presence, reputation and confort.

  • @TheS3GG
    @TheS3GG 3 года назад +8

    The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has proven its reliability and capability now for 20 years.
    In the video where the Pajero was stuck you didn’t have the approach.
    Now: You gotta show the whole story.
    You have 2 vehicles on All Terrain tires in some
    mud. Ok.
    You show some driving clips and suddenly you show one that is stuck and make the viewers decide.
    This is a fanboy video saying his toy is the best.
    Ask anyone in 4x4 culture and you will see that the Pajero and the Duster are not comparable.
    One is a real 4x4 body on frame commercial vehicle and the other is a light all wheel drive VAG group tourer.

    I believe that the Dacia Duster is a future cult classic in the same way that Lada Riva has become, it's such an under dog yet hugely capable. Even the 2 wheel drive is impressive off road

    • @mikebruckert2148
      @mikebruckert2148 3 года назад +6

      Hi, I fully agree with your statements ! Using a Lada Niva for now 12 years ( passed inspection without remarks recently, but I had to replace break discs, clutch, exhaust pipe, cam shaft chain plus some minor parts and welding over the years ... all accepted when driving mostly through forests on rocky roads). Clear, Niva needs a user with some car repairing skill and needs regular maintenance .. but that beast became a part of my soul and I sometimes hug it like my dogs. However the Niva is too small for carrying all outdoor stuff like tent, short wave transmitter/ telescope antenna mast, treasure hunting equipment .. and 2 big dogs
      Now I purchased a Duster 4WD to make happiness complete. The Duster provides all space I missed and I can sleep in it comfortably.
      Off-road capability is fully sufficient ( TCE 130 version) .. BUT: I strongly recommend to add the 6mm strong alu-sheets mounted under the complete car ( set for front part, exhaust pipe and gear) to avoid bumping into wood/ rocks when you bounce along muddy forest roads as shown in this video.
      The original plastic protection sheets under the car will not withstand heavy bumping !!
      My decision for the tires is the Cooper "wheathermaster" 215/65 R16 98T, hope it will not disappoint me regarding grip/ traction during winter.
      So I eagerly wait for next spring for being out treasure hunting and talking on my radio from " elevated" locations where others cannot climb to.
      Best regards to all Duster & Niva lovers from Lake of Constance/ border to Germania .. and many thanks for that impressive video !!

      @jghend555 3 года назад

      @@mikebruckert2148 where did you get your underbody protection from? This is the main issue I have with mine, lots of horrible noises as it catches rocks.

    • @mikebruckert2148
      @mikebruckert2148 3 года назад +2

      @@jghend555 several sources, some seem questionable.
      My version is the one described with identification 8201700404 directly ordered together with the Duster (reference: daciamag.com). The mounting instruction carries Dacia/ Renault sign, so seams reliable source (you find pictures using google..)
      Convincing for me is the shape of the front part which bends upwards and works like a deflection plate. It covers the lower section of the cooler. Many other versions come up with steel instead of Alu, but they are flat for motor/ gear box protection only.
      The rear element for the fuel tank/ exhaust pipe got a seperate ID .. I have to check the mounting instruction inside my heep of doc.
      !! The exhaust pipe bends down remarkably and will be exposed first to stones, so needs a deflection plate, definitely.
      Good explanation is given with youtube videos from LZParts (located somewhere North Germany).
      ELIA tuning shop version 1078311 seems reliable, too.
      Remark: A " cow deflector bar" at the front may be advisable to shovel sheep and bushes out of your way. However, it needs an additional steel bar at the car body = behind the plastic front ... means all front parts must be removed to fix this bar foor stabilization. ... a job for next spring :-))
      This cow deflector and nasty mounting game is nicely described by LZPart video, too.
      What I added on top: A pair of rectangular steel bars ( reeling) at the roof to carry pipes, wood bars, long construction elements etc.
      The limit is however 80kg by Duster instruction book .. I will not respect that strictly ... as there are no Cops around at my place.
      Source is Chechoslovakia, ID is Thule, VERSION 5-T for Duster 2018+, width 118cm. More " elegant" models are available, but too short for fixing fastening belts properly. Must not look " sportive" but needs to be robust .. the increased noise on highway rides doesn't matter.
      Hope, above is of help for you and best wishes from Mike

I abuse this engine daily to the redline no problems whatsoever, since 2004. Just do an oil change every 5000km to keep it fresh. At 450,000 Km at the moment. Had a some oil drips now and then. Maybe sold under its original brand name RENAULT from France ?
      I can understand that such a relatively "small" car with 130/ 150 Horsepower and 240 Newtonmeters torque is undersized for US application ... you may call it a " pocket version" of SUV car. However, if you look at it from European view ( much less distances to overcome) and if you don't want to pay for fancy accessoires for parfumed city-people who are "great pretenders" and want to simulate off-road activity, you do your best choice with a Duster car. Knom, the engine is same as a Mercedes A ( developped in a joint venture Mercedes/ Renault) and the 4x4 gear assemly is well proven Nissan design .. just put together in Romania, mostly robots assemble it .. so it could be anywhere in the world.
      The typical european engine design ( 1350 ccm/ turbocharged) is a contribution to so-called environment protection and therefore " tax-friendly" .
      I hate this, but I have to live with it. I am used to US-style of engines = 5 litre/ 8 cylinders, but this is history ( I worked in the Emirates and for Electricity Power Companies in Oregon and North Carolina). Sad, the times of freedom are over, no more riding a big pick-up, accompanied by friends, talking on 100 Watt CB radio, large gun collection with boxes full of ammo, out in the countryside on weekends.
      Here in Europe, we are castrated regarding all above .. so we conserve our little freedom as good as possible ... and the Duster just fits to our small-scaled " outdoor fun world".
      Best greetings across the big pond from a place called " lake of Constance" where poor Germany joins with two free countries Austria and Switzerland ( I am on the free side :-))

    I wish mitsubishi sold those with diesels here in the US. My 97 has the 3.0 V6 and uses too much fuel for the power it makes.

      How much fuel does the 3.0 v6 use?

      @@residentoutdoors2303 I've heard of people getting 18mpg when well maintained. Mine only gets 10 or 11mpg with 90% city driving

      @@BrokeWrench I get 18 city and about 24 MAX on a long motorway run if I don’t drive too fast. It easily will go 90mph (unlike the Diesel) but it drinks petrol.
