I think we forgot about what's really important: LEARNING ITSELF, searching, exploring...
School teaches us how to pass a test, not how to be smart! This is a problem :D
But it is our responsibility as students to try and understand what the tests what from us and why. Utilising this as guidance does somewhat benefit learning, however I am in agreement with treating them as two separate entities - this is very apparent when looking at the way it guides you from what is more controversial and what I personally find more interesting.

I think this video is based more on the u university system which is way more independent than the school system and yes it stresses you out and you have to get good grades but it's also your chance to learn more about a specific area of study you love. That is why I hated school and love university

I love to learn, but I strongly dislike the education system. Competition is what our education system values. Therefore, I learn outside of the classroom and challenge myself in non-academic environments. I think the education system is a mess all around.

Alex of the TBT Tattoo I enjoy math, I'm actually taking two right now, Algebra 1 & 2. Which may seem impossible but long story short, the state I'm in didn't count my PASSING grade from another state and they're making me retake Algebra 1 smh. But I chose to do Algebra 2 as a challenge since I did geometry already. And rn, in my Algebra 1 class I'm already bored as i already finish the handouts within minutes of being handed them and Alg 2 is the class that I actually enjoy being challenged in. I know a math tutor from a friend who helps me when I'm stuck on a problem so that helps but I don't know how to get myself motivated to learn learn

Education, on the other hand, is a thing where one gains new knowledge and skills, without being obliged to get an A or pass an exam paper. School's a place where one's obliged to fufill requirements.

Dilemma Competition to pass is actually a great idea. It's to encourage other students due to jealousy. Because of it, I actually got higher grades and it makes our classroom fun and competitive.

There's a huge difference between loving school and loving learning...
Some people love gaining knowledge but hate school, whether it be because of the schedules or because of the teaching techniques. And others love going to school for social purposes or sports but hate learning.

I love learning, but _hate_ all the due dates, being forced to memorise stuff by a certain date to pass a test, and just how school is about passing. I love learning in my own time. I don't want to have be forced to learn to pass school and be accepted into society.
Oh and homework is the worst, I have activities outside of school, and sometimes I stay up 'till around 12-1 studying, and on top of that I have trouble getting to sleep. (Usually takes 2-3 hours to get to sleep)

I hate school because of the pressure it puts on you and also because of the system that we have here. You can't grade people and tell them "You're not good enough" simply because some people are not good in math/languages... It's just way to generalized. I know people who are wayy more intelligent than I am, but who are going to "worse" classes (They can only study in school until they're 16 while I will go until the 13 th year and then uni) but she is bad at writing and won't get any help because she's in the class for "bad" students.
But I love knowdlege and I love reading and studying (for myself).

If the books are yours, totally scribble your feelings and comments in the margins. It makes them more interesting ;)
Highlighting parts of sentences and important themes or ideas is a very helpful close reading tactic, as is writing notes and short summaries of paragraphs in the margins of the pages. It makes it much easier to understand what is being read. c:

I hate my school. I hate most of the staff, and I hate half the things we are learning about. But I love to learn about things I think are interesting, like murderers. The same thing goes for reading. I only like reading books that I think are interesting, that doesn't mean I'll schedule a certain time of the day to read a book.

Omg, uh, I Like Hearing about old murder stories, especially ones about celebrities, or ones that happened at a hotel. Any creepy and eerie story I'm fascinated about. Like how someone could be so twisted to make a whole hotel just for murdering women and children. Ugh, i don't know what to say about that story, it's just fascinating, that's the only word I can use to describe it.
Mushmonster I'm glad you found it fascinating. Personally, it raised more questions than answers about Life, the Veil, what lies beyond this world and how we treat each other here impacts how we, in turn, are treated there. I keep thinking that no matter what we perceive to be our destiny, as much as we try to influence the outcome, it comes down to an equal mixture of Fate and Faith. I was about to type the words, "I can't believe I told you something so personal about my life" but that statement would be disingenuous. I told you because you do not know me, are a virtual stranger and I am therefore, safe to be honest.
On a lighter note, I adore horror movies, sci-fi movies and tales of wonder as much as the next person. Just today, my youngest and I watched "Ouija: The Original Sin" online and wow, that got the ol' heart a'pumpin'. I'm currently reading "Ash" by James Herbert from our local library about a asylum for the criminally insane but filthy rich. It's an interesting read. If you're looking for a mixture of tongue-in-cheek humor mixed with magic and homicidal maniacs, look into Ben Aaronovitch's Peter Grant series. My husband and I both couldn't put them down.

I love learning. It's not about loving school. I'm in university and I actually enjoy it. Back in public schools, it was a nightmare. I didn't get to learn the way I wanted to and I had no freedom. It was about the grade, not the learning. Now, I get to learn and love what I do and how I do it. Don't lose hope.

Most likely reason: you secretly don't. You might dislike the environment, the apathetic teachers or your class mates. Learning is easy and fulfilling. It makes you not only a better person, but infinitely more interesting when in a conversation with someone you like. 'Don't be afraid of that excitement of learning more, of spending free time in the halls of your local library and enjoying the freedom of exploring new worlds while still in your pajamas. 'Don't be afraid of yourself...be afraid of those who close their minds or feel they or their opinions have no value.

I hate school too. And that means I actually hate it, not "secretly like it"
When you say you "hate it", what exactly do you mean by "it"? Is it one or two aspects, a combination of things or are you just at a point in your life where you can't be bothered to learn anything new as you've convinced yourself that exploring and learning more about, heck...name it...anything...truly doesn't matter to you? I'm not trying to insult you, hurt your feelings or anything like that. I guess I'm trying to learn why someone, like you, for example, "hates" school. Personally, I abhorred the caste system, the drama, the ever-fluctuating hormonal shifts of my teen years. The sometimes paranoid, sometimes confident mental shifts during a class period were horrendous. Learning alongside people you find distractingly physically attractive combined with people that find YOU distractingly physically attractive made actually learning anything productive extremely difficult. I found my strengths lay in creative writing (duh), English, debate and history. Seeing injustice, bullying, and physical confrontations at my high school is what led me to my career in criminal justice later on, though. I'm a stranger and the likelihood of your ever meeting me is zero to none, but if I can make you pause, think and listen to that small, quiet voice inside your head or heart (that we all have but often ignore) and understand that I mean you no harm through my words of encouragement, perhaps I can make you feel good about yourself.
You are entirely correct. Every one of us has varying opinions. Thank you for sharing yours with me. I actually felt the same regarding my own lack of patience with subject matters I found either daunting, boring or worse, had a dull-witted teacher whose personality reminded me of bread mold...pervasive, odiferous and disinteresting. I would like to suggest two options that may help: (1) ask that instructor for a few minutes of their time between classes or perhaps, after school and discuss how you feel, what you think and do it in a non-aggressive manner. No one cares to be put immediately on the defensive against a belligerent or unkind person "expressing their opinion" (think Golden Rule here) and (2) physical exercise gives you ample opportunity for clarity of thought and time for introspection. If you start to think critically, hold up a mental middle finger and say something appropriately profane to shock that inner voice into silence. You CAN do anything you want to do in this life and you CAN make the people around you smile, think better about themselves and in turn, when you look in the mirror...you'll like what you see. Explore your literary world, too. Hey, do you like audiobooks? If so, look up Christopher Moore's "Bloodsucking Fiends" on RUclips. I often listen to audiobooks when driving or performing household chores. If you like science fiction (I love it) perhaps give Spider Robinson's "Variable Star" a listen (on RUclips, too). Peace.

I read comments where people complain about the US educational system...Well come over to Greece and see what students go under here. Not only are we bombarded with unlimited amounts of really useless subjects but we also have to take extra classes (after school, with another tutor) and our parents have to pay for them, despite the fact that our education is theoritically free. And all of this happens because the subjects are too difficult for high school students and a lot of teachers are too lazy to do what they're paid for properly.
