✨ 👉🏼 A direct object refers to the object that receives the action of the verb. The direct object pronouns are placed before or after the verb, depending on the conjugation and structure of the verb affecting the object.
✨ 👉🏼 If the verb is conjugated, the pronoun goes before the verb, in the case of a compound tense the pronoun goes before the first verb and never between verbs.
❗️❗️ Por ejemplo:
🪟🪟 ¿Cerraste las ventanas? / Did you close the windows?
➡️➡️ Sí, las cerré antes de salir. / Yes, I closed them before leaving.
➡️➡️ Sí, las he cerrado antes de salir. / Yes, I have closed them before leaving.
✨ 👉🏼 If the verb is not conjugated (infinitive or gerund) or is expressed with the imperative (orders), the pronoun goes after the verb and attached to it.

🪟🪟 ¿Cerraste las ventanas? / Did you close the windows?
➡️➡️ Tengo que cerrarlas pronto. / I have to close them soon.
➡️➡️ ¡Ciérralas! / Close them!

Hola! Creo que quisiste decir "pronoun" cada vez que dijiste "preposition". No es para tanto pero puede ser confuso para los principiantes.

Does the direct object pronoun also go at the end of a verb when conjugated as a participle or gerund? Como "jalandome del brazo con fuerza."
"There are two places where direct object pronouns can be placed. Before a conjugated verb. Attached to the end of the verb, ONLY IF the verb is not conjugated, such as infinitives or gerunds or if the verb is an affirmative informal command." :)
