I know korn is one of the main groups, but then you also have Linkin park and limp bizkit who sound nothing like korn. Then you move onto other groups like deftones and SOAD who aren't anything like any of the others. I feel like nu metal is too broad of a category. Because in a lot of black metal and especially power metal (other genres too) , you can hear the similarities between groups. I just don't see that with nu metal.

In my opinion, Korn, Deftones, Coal Chamber, Kittie, Snot, Fear Factory, Sepultura, the first Stained album (plus their self produced LP) are the core group of bands who define what nu metal is. Also, all of the various bands who try to copy these bands, are nu metal.

The first albums were ground breaking, but if they were to do the same thing for 30 years, they wouldn't still be around. And to be fair there is a lot in the recent outings to tie it to the first three. You also included Issues in your list of faves, but when that came out, it was a critical success but fans slammed it hard. It's now seen as a classic.
