Ok! Now that that's out of the way, BRUUUUHHHH! I can't believe I didn't remember this sooner. But I lost my retainer (try not to lose your retainer!!) and a replacement costs $700. Then I remembered those InstaMorph plastic beads that I used to make a fake tooth, and BOOM! Replacement retainer in my hands!

This is great because my retainer isn’t fitting anymore and my mom said I would have to pay for another retainer so this is a life saver!
If your retainer isn't fitting anymore your teeth are not longer aligned, a new retainer might stop them from moving more, but you're still screwed. Your bite is going to be off so you're going to have places that wear more than they should, messed up enamel, eventually cracked teeth, etc. You might see if you can hit up your orthodontist and get things back on track. Depending on how long it has been you might still be inside the time frame of your original comprehensive plan. This kids is why we wear our retainers like we are supposed to. Otherwise you went though months and years of pain for jacked up teeth that you're going to have to get fixed again later.
I stopped wearing my Retainer For some dumb reason when I was told not to, So I tried putting my retainer in and it wouldn’t fit So I have to hope this video is a lifesaver

@@angstybreadstyx1242 yes is did, just make sure when you make it and you’re molding it to your teeth, it’s a little loose. That way when it dries it won’t be tight when you put it on.

You are an absolute life saver!! I accidentally ran over my top retainer last week (don’t ask me how that happened lol) and paid $350 to get a replacement which won’t be here until another 2 weeks 😢Wish I had seen this video sooner, but I did your method last night and it works! My gap was slightly opening and now it’s completely closed. Thanks again 🙏🏾

Ohhhhhh girl.....thank you for this!!! I’ve been out of my braces since mid-2016(?) and this top retainer is HIT, CHAPPED, DONE....etc. It cracked and I did a few minor repairs buuuut I have sharp canines and apparently I grind my teeth at night. I ground two holes SMOOVE (yep, smoove 😂) through the bottom plus the damage it already had. I have a permanent retainer on the bottom and I wear a wire retainer so I’m good on the bottom. Whoooooo but this top one!?!? I’m definitely still wearing them both....but I’d be surprised if this top one makes it another month! It’s really that bad 😣😖😫 I have some fillings to get done this week and then I’ll be using your tips and making my own. Thanks again!!!!!
ETA: I had special circumstances that I was dealing with. I started with a slight underbite. That said...I wasn’t really with that. We were able to correct the underbite without surgery. Now....my top jaw (or gums🤷🏻♀️) are short so the tray I got from the orthodontist didn’t have my gum line 😩 I’m gonna try to see if I can get it tho 🤨

I've used these pellets before for teeth molding, and when you have excess it's best to cut it when it's still drying that way it's not super hard to cut. So, when it's nearly dry is when you should try to cut it, it just makes it so much easier. Great video!

So this worked?? I don't see why it wouldn't. I just worry about if the plastic is safe to sit in your mouth.. I'm just a ball of anxiety and could be overthinking 😅
@@Krystal-O I've been using it for few days and it definitely helped! The instamorph says non-toxic so I am pretty sure it's ok. I purchased mine on Amazon and most of the reviews were people using it for the same thing, costumes, other dental needs, and more! 😄

The only thing that sucks it's their white(ish)! I was really hoping they'd be clear so acceptable to wear around. More like a clear retainer would've been a dream!

Omg this is so helpful. I lost my clear aligners last sat and I've been using it for 6 years already after having braces and stuff so that one of my fronth tooth will come out. I'm afraid that it will shift back to its old position and that stuff is so expensive in the dental clinics. I'll be sure to buy this instamorph plastic online and create my own clear aligners. i literally just bought the product because my dog chewed my bottom retainer, so I got it fixed, he got to that one, and i can’t afford another one😭💀 so i’m really hoping this works. I have a permanent retainer on those set of teeth but that of course doesn’t hold them in place forever. Thank youu!!

Nayeli Gonzalez it won't fix them because the mold is based on your current teeth. But if you have a copy of your teeth that the orthodontist gave you then you should use that
@@nayeligonzalez6432 You have to wear them every day. If you take them off, the teeth will immediately, go back. When I did mine, I pushed the front in a tiny bit more. It took me 3 times to get it right.

Can fully confirm that this works & is a great substitute if you need it.
I got my braces off & my ortho didn’t tell me that there would be a wait for the retainers. I had a 3 week holiday booked and wouldn’t get them in time. 3 weeks without retainers straight after your braces being removed would basically cause a full on relapse. I religiously wore the thermoplastic retainers for about 10 hours a day. By the time I got my actual retainers, they fit perfectly.
$500-700 for a retainer is ridiculous to begin with because retainers are easy to lose. I can't tell you how many times I lost it.

It yes absolutely crazy especially is made with mostly plastic and cheap wire material made from China.

Man look! They charge too much money for 2oz of cheap plastic! I watched another video before this one and there was a “dentist” in the comments. Now, 1st of all we on the internet sooooo maybe he was...maybe he wasn’t 🤷🏻♀️. Anyway, he went on and on about how this would be an excellent whitening tray, but this plastic isn’t nearly as strong as the ones “they” sell us, it won’t be strong enough to keep your teeth from shifting back....WHOLE time I’m looking at this flimsy ass piece of retainer I got like REALLY?!? I call bullshit!! All the coin I spent on these braces? They SHOULD’VE come with replacement retainers for damn life!! 🤔🙄😒😂😂😂

I went on a ski trip and somehow managed to lose my bottom retainer that I’ve had forever. 😭 I ordered the beads you recommended. They were out of clear so I got black ones. Haha. My bottom mouth looks like I have a boxers mouth guard in it. At least it will help keep my bottom teeth straight though. Thank you for this recommendation. As I can’t afford to get a new set of retainers right now.

Ok, I came here to say ONE thing. Well…two. First, thank you for this brilliant suggestion. My son breaks his bottom retainer about once every 6 week. His retainers are $30 for one, or $60 per set. Thank you so much! I'm not sure about the crown. I have a tooth that has a root canal and the filled it, but it never got the crown on it, but it's doing just fine. The "retainers" are just supposed to keep your teeth where they are. Nothing more. So logically, I don't think it would affect it. But I'm no orthodontist, so don't hold me to that. I'm just going off my experience and what make sense to me. Lol!

I'm going to use this to make a set of molds because I had "help" moving and an expensive hired *bleep* tossed out the (obvious, obvious, obvious... sigh, whatever) container with my trays. The container was blue, triangle, and sparkly... he called it "tupperware". Interesting. Not sure where he buys his tupperware, but okay, dude.

You could even make a mold of your teeth you can get thw stuff for cheap as well that way you can see better and really get it perfect and maybe shape it better. Also you can let ice water sit in your mouth. Great video. Everything is going up, up, up.

I was thinking you could use a mouth gaurd. Put the plastic mold in the mouth gaurd then you could bite down to get the shape then remove the plastic mold

Very good we'll explained video . 😎 I see people making teeth and covering gaps with this stuff. I have a bag of it that a brought a few years ago and never used it. I think I will now to cover a gap that I caused and don't like. One question though. Why do you have to wear a retainer? Is it because you had a tooth taken out? Your teeth look good.

Unfortunately (to my understanding) no. Because we don't know how to design them to the teeth's new position. They only conform to the teeth's current position.

Listen, I looked up if it was possible to DIY and your video came up; Need I say lifesaver!? Did it using the mold from my retainer and it worked. was able to cut it down from excess with an exacto knife and It worked phenomenally. I am gonna order some new ones on-line, but this def helped me stop shifting while I do so.

Ive never had a retainer or braces. Can i make this to straighten my bottom?
Sometimes I think that kids that get braces are just too young to really understand how important the retainer is. I got invisalign as an adult, and would have much rather had my parents have paid for that mess. I know so many adults that went through all of the pain and torture of braces to just stop wearing their retainer and have jacked up teeth again.

Well, a waitress threw my retainer in the trash literally the same day I got my braces off. I sat it on a napkin while I was eating. I went to the bathroom and she didn’t see it because it was clear and trashed it. My fiend wasn’t even paying attention.
I had another made (expensive) and my teeth had shift a little after 3 days. Not too bad. Then, I had my new retainer on my nightstand. A dog I had at that time chewed it up while I was sleeping.
This all happened around 11 years ago. My teeth stayed the same pretty much for years. Now at 35 they are shifting. My top two teeth now have a gap.
I wonder if I could make a retainer with this and then shift the teeth ever so slightly to get the front teeth to move back together. Any thoughts?
