Nice video, Jim. You commented that silvers are getting hard to find these days in Melbourne. Pretty much the same thing in Sydney. I run the Nox 800 with the standard coil. May one day give the 6 inch a go. Best wishes, AR
Yeah mate Melbourne has been hammered. Only a few places left that if your not shy from joggers watching you dig nature strips you stand as chance of finding a few,
I could never detect a nature strip by the side of the road, Jim. What I do, though, is only go out at night to hit the parks. Very early mornings on s Sunday used to be well worthwhile a few years back for dollars in the Sydney CBD parks, but with the lack of tourists and the fact that fewer people are carrying coins these days, that's not worth it anymore. I just go for the pre-decimals now. Not worth anything, but good fun.
Thank you mate, I’m thinking of doing the same thing, but I’ll wait and see how others get on with the manticore, It’s two and a half thousand dollars, if the find’s are not there then no machine will find them.
We just got a permission on a really old house up the road and will be happy to find anything near what always seem to come up with… maybe I should bury some coins first 🍻🤣
I’m sure there’s some great find’s to be had Jason, sounds promising.. I hope to see you popping out some Morgan dollars brother how awesome would that be 👍🍻🍺🍺
Hello brother I wish 😞, Unfortunately no I don’t, Nothing that old here and I don’t know anyone that can give me permission , It’s very rare that anyone would knock down any house here, strange I know but people usually just extend on to the house rather then knock it down and start over, plus Australia was settled in 1788 , most that settled were convicts with ball and chain, they didn’t loose much but skin lol 😂, that’s why most of my oldest find’s are usually from the middle of 1850s when most were free men and women that slowly started settling the country.

@@mdmelbourne6076 no worries.m8 👍
Hey Jim- A nice hunt, great variety of coins. Congrats!!
Jazzy
Thanks Jazzy 👍
HI Buddy, Blessings Jim, I thought I'd stop by. I'm sorry to tell you I lost My beloved Australian Cattle Dog to indiscriminate dog poisoning in Kody's favored Park. I'm Devastated mate. It's a shitty world pal, you be careful out there. ... Mike.
Sorry to hear brother, you loved that dog,
Maybe I should be saying your best friend,
that sucks brother 😞,
who ever did that should be shot I think,
I’ve got a best friend now after our dog passed away from breast cancer.
now I’ve got an AMSTAFF ,
It’s not just mine it belongs to the family
and she’s almost one and a half years old,
It’s gone so fast since we got her at 8 weeks old, she’s settled down now and that puppy stage is gone, she’s becoming a great companion and she’s the first one to say hello to me when I come home from work,
no body even knows I’ve arrived lol,
again brother sorry to hear that sad sad news,
🙏🙏
@@mdmelbourne6076 Thank you buddy, so appreciated. Had to share the news with you as a friend and Co-sub as Kody brought such great joy to the so many who I shared his adventures with. Always sending you the very best. ... Mike.
Well you didn't do to bad Jim considering you said things are getting hard to find, Id be happy if that was my haul for a whole day! I was looking forward to a full afternoons detecting when unexpected visitors arrived, nice to have visitors but there timing sucked. the sun was shining, I had an early lunch, had my gear ready, then stayed at home till after 4pm, only got out for an hour and a bit, it was a top day too weather wise, 1x1943 half penny and 2 doorknobs, might get out again this arvo provided no one drops in out of the blue or it starts raining again. Cheers Mate!
Gday Wayne, unfortunately friends and family are always coming at the wrong time lol,
I’ve been through this a few times,
that’s why I always leave home around 6 and usually I’m home around 10, most times everyone’s just getting out of bed lol 😂,
sometimes I think I should be doing the same but I’m hooked on this hobby lol,
You did alright considering pre decimals are getting harder to come by,
unfortunately I wish could say the same about those pesky one and two cent coins lol 😂,
hope you have a great week mate,
I think I’ve worked my last Saturday for the year last weekend just gone,
Looking forward to having a weekend for a change lol
@@mdmelbourne6076 G'day Jim, Well I dont get a lot of visitors, but between the rain, odd jobbing on the good day's, and appointments up the ying yang opportunity's to get out have been few and far between, so when theres an opening I go for it, and I did get out for about 2hrs this arvo, and it was'nt bad, a com hp + a roo hp and a ripper 1923 sixpence, my first skeleton key and a buckle, so im a pretty happy chappy at the moment, I suppose your limited on how many place's you can detect in Melbourne that haven't already been hammered, I hope you get the chance to hit some untouched territory thats loaded with finds, and wkends full of hunts! Cheers Mate and good hunting!
@@waynearmstrong5233 I’m always working Wayne, I usually just get Sundays off and an RDO every second week on Mondays,
I should be taking a drive up the freeway and find greener pastures,
Bud can’t be bothered lol,
I’m so tired by the end of the week I just want to relax, there’s always shit to do around the house too it doesn’t end lol, the grass is growing so bloody fast I can actually see it get bigger lol
@@mdmelbourne6076 I would hate that Jim, life is to short to be using it all up working, but we dont always have a choice. yep the grass is growing fine, its a bit like the sydney harbor bridge, finish painting then start again, same with the lawn, Cheers Mate, and take a sickie!
Nice hunt mate.
Gday mate, hope we can get out this weekend,
I think I’ve worked my last Saturday just gone,
thing’s are under control at work so I’ll have my weekends back,
I’ll let you know 👍
@@mdmelbourne6076 I'm good for Sat mate.
Nice video, Jim. You commented that silvers are getting hard to find these days in Melbourne. Pretty much the same thing in Sydney. I run the Nox 800 with the standard coil. May one day give the 6 inch a go.
Best wishes,
AR
Yeah mate Melbourne has been hammered. Only a few places left that if your not shy from joggers watching you dig nature strips you stand as chance of finding a few,
I could never detect a nature strip by the side of the road, Jim. What I do, though, is only go out at night to hit the parks. Very early mornings on s Sunday used to be well worthwhile a few years back for dollars in the Sydney CBD parks, but with the lack of tourists and the fact that fewer people are carrying coins these days, that's not worth it anymore. I just go for the pre-decimals now. Not worth anything, but good fun.
Heaps of old coins mate :)
Thanks Grant, there getting harder to find, I’ve plucked most of them out over the years
I did want the 6 inch but I got the larger coil instead lol. Now I’m thinking of selling the 800 and getting the manticore but the wife will kill me 😂
Thank you mate, I’m thinking of doing the same thing, but I’ll wait and see how others get on with the manticore,
It’s two and a half thousand dollars,
if the find’s are not there then no machine will find them.
If you didn’t tell her you bought the Manticore, would she actually know ?
@Diggers Down Under The Comic Chef have you used one before? I’m interested in that 2D graph
@@timareskog2418 I like the way you think
@@timareskog2418 hahaha she would,
Joint account lol 😂,
I can’t get a pie from 7/11 without her knowing 🤣🤣
We just got a permission on a really old house up the road and will be happy to find anything near what always seem to come up with… maybe I should bury some coins first 🍻🤣
I’m sure there’s some great find’s to be had Jason, sounds promising..
I hope to see you popping out some Morgan dollars brother how awesome would that be 👍🍻🍺🍺
Do you have any old house lots you can hunt? I don't like parks myself but if it was all I had guess,🎯
Hello brother I wish 😞,
Unfortunately no I don’t,
Nothing that old here and I don’t know anyone that can give me permission ,
It’s very rare that anyone would knock down any house here, strange I know but people usually just extend on to the house rather then knock it down and start over,
plus Australia was settled in 1788 ,
most that settled were convicts with ball and chain, they didn’t loose much but skin lol 😂,
that’s why most of my oldest find’s are usually from the middle of 1850s
when most were free men and women that slowly started settling the country.
Jim hullo How's all 👍🏼 Good little session mate 🍻 had some prick steal my Nox out me car went into shop and come out and it was gone ass holes wasn't even ten minutes in shop my fault didn't lock the car 😭 Goddamit gotta save me pennies again to get another one it's going to take awhile on the bloody dole since me stroke in 2020 🙄
Get stuffed.. you serious Pete ???
Dole is just enough to get by and that’s it mate, been there..,
I spent ten months on the dole last year, I maxed out all my credit cards lol 😂, thank F###, my old boss called me back once covid was just about over, otherwise I would have sold the house and moved away from a house in to a flat, no body has given me a single cent mate.. no inheritance like some people I know,
Bloody useless at anything they do but somehow they money lands on their lap, hope you get get it back mate check the second hand market and see if anyone is flogging off a Nox for cheap
@@mdmelbourne6076 serious Jim it's gone my friend I'll keep a look out but I think I'll never get it back. I was working with the local fisherman running there boats I was second master then covid happened then bloody stroke which end up me having brain surgery and metal detecting is the only thing I can do to help me keep sane keep mind stress free . Could not go back to working on boats in case something happened to me, so dole was only option first time in my life being on dole this long its bull shit but had to sign up to survive used up my savings already, I got some disability support people trying to find me work at moment but not looking good, I'm a qualified builder, fisherman worked on tuna long liners, prawn trawlers, shark netting even farming ploughing fields and can't get work it sucks. I'm hoping something will happen soon Godbless.
@@petekbleeepingaustralia8720 Pete if your a qualified builder you should apply for jobs as a building supervisor,
Got a mate that’s doing that now he loves it, no tools needed mate just a iPad and follow up with trades to come on time, plus organising council to sign of on frames and tanking and everything else that requires a signature
@@mdmelbourne6076 I'm seeing if I can get work here with local council put in resume but no response yet, Also sent resume with the building company I worked for a long time to supervise or to be a ambassador for them Sarah town and country homes but no reply back, I'll find something Jim something should happen 🤞
@@petekbleeepingaustralia8720 i thought I wouldn’t find work again after I got laid off, I’m 57 years old and thought I’m past my use by date.
but they called me ..
i thought after ten months I’m destined to stay on the dole,
No body rang asking how I was so I deleted everyone’s number from where I worked, and a week later
I got a call I didn’t know who it was ,
I thought scammers lol 😂,
lucky I answered hahaha,
I usually don’t answer numbers I don’t recognise..
I’m sure things will change soon mate you’re to proud to be sitting in limbo,
it took me almost three months to get a single cent from the dole,
they want you to spend every penny you have first before they give you anything..
Nice old coinage Jim. That 1870s largie is an oldie.
It was Matt. It was the second coin I found and I was convinced it was just a slick Commonwealth of Australia penny,
happy I was wrong lol 😂
Mate I’m jealous I’ve had my new nox for about a month now and haven’t been out yet
It’s been almost a month since I’ve been out my self mate, just raining all the time that I’m free,
thank goodness for rostered days off work
Not a bad few hours Jim, I’ve just catching up with the RUclips videos due to these bloody floods in our area. Catch your next one mate
Cheers mate, I’ve got friends over at Echuca and it’s devastating,
Did you get affected????,
I hope not mark
I’m in Mooroopna a short drive from Echuca, we copped it really bad . 80% of the town flooded badly but I only had water around the house luckily, a couple of friends lost everything so we helping them. It’s bloody terrible around here but we a strong community and we will beat this. Thanks Jim
@@markmcintosh329 great to see all the communities banding together mark,
There saying more rain coming tomorrow, keep safe mate 👍
Keep doing what you are doing and you can buy a pint. LOL
lol hello William, the Australian dollar is dropping in value so quick it’s getting harder to keep up with it,
One Australian dollar is worth about 62 US CENTS, my daughter is coming to America in two weeks and she’s getting no value in exchange rates, basically everything costs twice as much as what she could purchase here, take care brother ATB 👍🍻
Your still finding them mate well done
Yes getting a bit wet down there ay
We had our turn too
Cheers 🍻 Jim

Just a little lol 😂,
