Thank you for the help. I purchased my Longarm from an individual. It was very lovingly used by one lady. I did not have an instruction manual so I am lost. Watching all videos I can find. I can use all the help I can get. Again, thank you.
Great video! Thanks for making and sharing it. I'm very new to LAQ and I truly appreciate your tips to get everything straight. I have the Red Snappers and you're absolutely right! They are worth every penny.
Thank you so much for this. I bought a used Nolting with this exact frame just a few months ago. I have struggled a bit and was floating both the batting and the quilt top because I was not sure how this works. I am amazed at how different quilt frames are! Thanks, again!
Lisa, I know this is a older video about nolting. You are the only one that shows how to load a Nolting longarm. I don't watch the other brand videos because they are loaded different. Do you know if there are any other Nolting videos about loading a quilt? Thank you in advance
Hi Vickie, I have not seen any specific videos about loading a quilt on a Nolting frame. If you have any questions along your journey I'd love to help. You can email me at lisacapenquilts@gmail.com
So helpful to see how that works. I've had my long arm for a bought 2 years and soon I will have room to get it set up. I first had to wait until the basement was finished. That took forever. LOL
Great videos! I usually baste stitch my quilt top to the batting & backing across the top and both sides and float the top and the batting but I’m going to long-arm my current quilt as you have shown on this video (with the exception of pinning the top down) by rolling the backing to the top roller and the quilt top to the bottom roller. I also use the same grips you are using - wouldn’t use anything else! It’s frustrating when I have a ripple at the end of the quilt and hope this helps eliminate it. Joan
I wrote that post incorrectly! Actually I’ve rolled the quilt backing onto the bottom front roller & the quilt top will be rolled onto the top front roller. I am working on my Nolting IS2K and love it with my 12’ table.
Hi Lisa: I have just bought a Huskavarna Master Quilter Longarm. I don't actually have it yet, it should arrive the first week of Feb. I have a lot to learn. So you are going to be very helpful to me. I didn't see how you loaded the batting. Thanks for the videos, I am subscribed.
Hi Lisa, thank you for this. All of the videos talk about the 12’ Gammill table because I have a Gammill long arm. But I have a 10’ Home Pro table that looks like yours. This is very helpful. My table says the bottom bar is for the top but this makes more sense. I’ve floated the other 2 quilts I’ve done on it, however, they do get dirty and I have 4 dogs that think it’s a great bed to lay on. Therefore, my quilts also have dog hair incorporated in them LOL. This time I want to keep it off the floor. So thank you again. It appears you are floating your batting. I shy away from fleece backing because it’s so ... stretchy... I’d like your feedback on how it works with the long arm. Thank you. Rosetta
Lisa Capen Quilts thank you! For the life of me I couldn’t find good referencing for the needle size. I’m preparing to make my first T-shirt quilt. But at the moment I’m quilting my first quilt on my long arm. It took me forever to load it! But I’m happy to have gotten started on it finally! I’m new to long arm quilting but I’ve been quilting quilts in my home domestic for four years. This is a great hobby because it’s so therapeutic. Thank you for your informative channel. I wouldn’t have even gotten into quilting had it not been for all the wonderful quilters sharing on RUclips! 🌹
at 14:30 I show how I laid down my batting....and then I basted it in place. The batting is not on any rollers like the back and top. It is simply floating....laying right down on the back fabric, and the rest is tucked up under the frame.
Thanks Lisa! I’ve been totally intimidated by my machine, you have made me feel confident that I can do this!

That's awesome news, congrats on the new longarm!! I'm here to help if you have questions along the way :)

I'm so glad this was helpful!!!

How exciting Regina, I love my Nolting so much! If you ever have any questions, I'd love to try and help :)
I know Im kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good website to stream new series online?
@Jaxtyn Arturo flixportal :D
@Elisha Enoch Thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) Appreciate it !!
@Jaxtyn Arturo no problem :D

Thank you for sharing! I've always wondered how those machines work :)
Jennifer Farsh these machines are TONS of fun :)

I know the waiting must have been hard :) Glad I could pass this along!

Why don’t you baste the sides of your quilt top as your progress?
I envy those people who have perfected free hand quilting; I’m using Quiltmagine.

Deborah Melton ohhhhhh you must be so excited!!! You are going to have a BLAST. The batting was just simply laid flat on the backing :) that's it :)
You do make it look easy!
Sandra Richmond thank you :)
AWESOME VIDEO... EXCELLENT INSTRUCTION 😃👍🤗
Harlen's Coin Rings thank you Harlen ♡♡♡♡
Do you have any more videos about how your longarm works? Or do you have any plans to do more videos on this subject.
Deborah Melton yes, I'd really like to do more with the longarm!! :)
Hi Lisa, thank you for this. All of the videos talk about the 12’ Gammill table because I have a Gammill long arm. But I have a 10’ Home Pro table that looks like yours. This is very helpful. Hi Rosetta! I've used fleece many times on the longarm. You MAY want to pre-wash it first :)
How can you configure the spacing on a pantograph that doesn’t have a ghost pattern?
Can I load my top on the bottom roller? That makes a smooth top without the quilt top rolled up at the front in the way.
Where did you get your clips for the bars?
Memory Lane Quilting :) I love them!
Thank you for a good video. What do you do at the end, when you are quilting the last few inches of the quilt and it is under the leader grips?
Cindy Mckenna I take the leader grips off of the quilt top, stitch baste the quilt down and finish quilting. I hope this makes sense ♡
Lisa Capen Quilts Thanks! I very new and there are no teachers around. These videos help very much.
Cindy Mckenna you are welcome, I look forward to doing more videos using the longarm soon. If you have questions, I'd love to help!
Do you know where I can purchase the grips to secure quilt?
I use these mini grips, and then the long grips: www.quiltedjoy.com/product/quilting-notions/mini-grips
do you have a newer frame? this video is 4 years old. I have the new steel stretched frame. it has 7 poles including the batting bar.
Hi Vickie, I have the commercial frame :) Slightly different than yours.
Where can I buy those long plastic clips instead if pinning
Hi Darlene, I got mine from Memory Lane Quilting :) You can find them online
I went back a rewatched it. It doesn’t show the adding of the batting. Just shows it already on and the basting. But I got it. Thanks.
I was wondering what size needle and type of thread are you using to quilt your T-shirt’s?
Anitra Marinchek for this quilt I used a size 14 needle and YLI cotton thread :)
Lisa Capen Quilts thank you! For the life of me I couldn’t find good referencing for the needle size. I’m preparing to make my first T-shirt quilt. Anitra Marinchek ohhhb my goodness you are going to LOVE your longarm soooo much!! I'm glad I could help ♡
Anitra Marinchek I just want to add....if you start noticing your thread breaking, increase the size of the needle, that will help :)
Lisa Capen Quilts thank you! 💐
Where is the rest of the batting?
Do you roll it up somewhere?
it is just floating, hanging from the frame
Thanks, but you don’t show where/how to load the batting.
at 14:30 I show how I laid down my batting....and then I basted it in place. The batting is not on any rollers like the back and top. It is simply floating....laying right down on the back fabric, and the rest is tucked up under the frame.
No longer
