- The Battle of Westport, fought October 21-23, 1864, was the largest Civil War battle west of the Mississippi. Sometimes referred to as the “Gettysburg of the West”, this battle was a clash of 30,000 total troops, with action occurring where this video was shot, in Kansas City, Missouri’s Loose Park.
