  • Today we're hiking along the Rim Trail in Grand Canyon National Park. The section of this south rim hike we're exploring is between two popular overlooks, Mather Point and Yavapai Point.
Both of these points offer wonderful panoramic views perfect for sunrise and sunset. Since they are only a few minutes walk from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, they can get crowded as the day goes on, so we're heading out early before the masses and before the heat.
The 3/4 mile paved trail in between the two overlooks offers incredible viewpoints along the way. For all the details on this spot, check out:

How amazing!!! I visited Mather Point on my Grand Canyon trip during the summer of 2021 and it was incredible. Such a spectacular view and amazing wildlife, really a lot to take in. What did you think?

I was absolutely left in awe of the beautiful views here. My first visit was for sunrise, it was so peaceful and beautiful to actually see birds flying beneath us then I returned for an afternoon visit and it was fun to experience the area in a different way - so lively and filled with other people enjoying the views. 😊

@@flyingdawnmarie Sounds like you had a very wonderful trip, so glad you had fun, it really is a spectacular experience. Did you see any wildlife, like elk or anything?

@@Smilo-the-Sabertooth yes, over my Grand Canyon visits I’ve seen everything from elk & coyotes to rattle snakes and tarantulas but one of my favorite experiences was seeing juvenile big horn sheep cross the hiking trail to Shoshone Point - I was even able to capture a moment of it on video and you can see it in my RUclips video VLOG:158 (it happens at about 5:50) it was a brief encounter but quite special to see them crossing the trail.☺️

@@flyingdawnmarie That’s incredible, I also had a few up close encounters with some elk and some friendly squirrels. One of the most memorable wildlife encounters was a mother deer with her two babies walking through the campsite I was staying at. I also have a few vids of my Arizona trip.
