Linda Raynier What if your weakness is much more general/open. I truly believe my weakness is encountering a process that I lack adequate knowledge to handle without assistance. It seems like a strength for a weakness after you described what weaknesses are not. Now I am questing if it's an appropriate response to this interview question.
Hi Linda! This is not only the most difficult, its the most important question to be asked. A friend of mine added if the interviewer ask this question. She stated to reply such as: "Glad that you asked that question!" So in turns the employer not on themselves, but on you. Thanks Linda for one of many great videos!
Being Human,, that's our biggest weakness. Humans are flawed. Nobody can be perfect so don't try to be. Just live & enjoy life .. Youth is the most precious thing It doesn't last long So enjoy it
Hi Linda, I have a question to ask in regard to this topic? Can I say as my weakness in an interview question that - "I am a bit of a cleaning & organising freak- but however I am trying to take a backseat on the things that are out of my control". Please let em know what do you think of my answer. Thank you
Don't be nervous for an interview. Just study up on the company, have confidence, know your work history, recall stories, relate your work history to the job, have questions to ask at the end. If you don't get it, so be it. Don't take it personal. Life's too short and the world is chaos. Just be happy. Keep plugging away.
I watched almost all of your videos to prepare for my very first job interview. The interviewer asked me this question and I answered it according to what you had suggested and she nodded her head, and even said she agreed with me! My first ever interview went really well because of you, and the best part?? I GOT THE JOB!! Thank you so much for making all these videos. It really helps!
I changed two jobs in last 1 and half year and I refer to Linda's videos both the time. they asked me this question and the best answer I came up with is, " For me it is very hard to say NO, I want to explore more and learn more so every time my teammates asks for a favor I tend to say yes and always end up with more responsibilities, that also one of the reason I am quite efficient now with time management and apart from that I get chance to work with the teammate, get to know the person" I think it is a great answer.
David Wallace: What are your strengths? Michael: Well let me tell you my weaknesses first. I work too hard, I I care too much, and sometimes I can be too invested in my job. David Wallace: And you strengths? Michael: Well my weaknesses actually are my strengths.
Apple Chai exactly what I be thinking too! Who is the best convincing liar or story teller... NOT I HAHA BUT now I will be with this helpful cheat sheet lol
so true. it's sad that you are not judged on your experience but rather on how you look and the interviewer's personal feelings towards you. I have heard managers saying "I like the way she talked" or "she appears to be a very nice person." We all have to hope that they like us not our experiences.
I agree dude. Every time I do these I'm like... dude... I've worked for Walmart for 8 years.... I press 2 buttons on a machine and put money in it and I talk to customers about things an Xbox or a chair can do. A time I did something as a team, "Hey Fred can you help me lift this for one second?"
I usually just patch things up by saying my weakness is I can get a little scatterbrained because I'm usually handling many tasks at the same time. I always follow it with a solution, such as "--which is why I'm always keeping meticulous notes and constantly updating my agendas; it keeps me on top of things."
"My weakness is that in situations when there's a deadline i tend to want things done quickly and efficiently" that sounds a lot like a strength in disguise. Same as saying "my weakness is that i'm a perfectionist"

I have grown to learn and develop my improved communication skills over the span of my middle school years until now while experiencing times when I am speaking with strangers or even larger groups of people. Now I feel as if I still have very minor problems with communication, such as minor stuttering but I feel like I can learn to fix it."

I am practicing for an interview for entrance into a Sonography program. I took your advice and formulated a weakness "area for growth". I need to know if my answer will hinder me from getting into the program because I am being too honest or if it would help me shine bright and win the interviewers over.... This is what I am thinking about using for my weakness question. In the past, learning and retaining new material was a challenge for me. I did not always make the grades I knew I could make. Given that I noticed this was such a challenge for me, I decided to change the way I studied new and challenging material. Thanks to those changes I could study in a way that worked for me. As a result, I started making A’s in classes I once struggled in, while helping those around me who once struggled with new material also. I am proud to say that I look forward to learning new and challenging material know.
I realize this question was posted 2yrs ago but I wanted to take a moment to comment on your acknowledgement of sometimes "being too honest". I TOTALLY understand that struggle bug after reading your post, I think you sort of answered your question yourself without even realizing it. You gave me some amazing insight anyway! :-) I think it is not only acceptable but I think it's admirable to admit a shortcoming that could prove to be detrimental to a job, just as long as you have processed it. What I mean is you have acknowledged the weakness, you have analyzed it, and you have brought about a solution that has proven to successfully turn your weakness into a strength! AWESOME!

i have so many terrible and chronic weaknesses. i'm slow and don't have a sense of urgency, therefore I'm terrible at time management and organization of tasks. I'm also forgetful. Sometimes i'm very attentive, but i feel like i'm mostly floating in space. I procrastinate SOOOOO much and I'm late 90% of the time. I'm also kind of awkward and can't speak well. I am not good at making others feel comfortable especially when I'm intimidated or unfamiliar with others. did I mention I procrastinate? A LOT? *sigh* i feel like crying in the corner of a dark cave... i never got great grades... my peak was in elementary and middle school and then it got worse later in high school and horrible in college... and now i'm older than everyone and have nothing going for me
Think about a time you were criticized. It's hard for a strong minded person to notice their own weakness. Use that person's criticism of you or your work at any time in your life tell that story and tell how that criticism fuels you to kick but every day. Mamba style
Hi Linda, when I was applying for my first job back in 2018 it was because of your videos why I got hired. I have a job interview tomorrow and I am rewatching your videos! Thank you so much for all that you do!
This reminds me of STAR. Have your STAR stories ready for your interview. STAR is Situation, Task, Action, Result. A situation about a task, what action you took and what was the result.
I like how you framed the weakness as a transient quality that only comes up in certain situations instead of an always occurring character trait, because it really is only temporary. When you recognize it and takes steps to improve, it’s no longer a problem 👍
Since then I know my weakness I'm too perfectionist 😔 coz I'm afraid to get in trouble and I want everything to be perfect, in organize and everything is well done
Here's the perfect answer to "What are your weaknesses"...... "I don't feel I have any weaknesses, but at the same time I understand that there is always room for improvement!"
I feel that I'm so lucky to see your channel right before I have an interview for the job that I really want. I love the way you encourage the viewers a lot. Thank you so much for your ultimately useful videos. Love to see more of your videos in the field.
Also if anyone is asked to give a weakness & strength in the same question it helps to start with the weakness. It shows that you embraced the difficult question / challenge first while also ensuring that the last thing the employer heard was something positive about you
I'm going to take an interview tomorrow, and that job is actually my dream job. I do hope I can land the offer!! Thanks for all your videos, which are really helpful!! Wish myself good luck!! :)
In a situation where I get to learn new things I have tended to ask many doubts this made me appear extra enthusiastic . As a result I have learned to research first and started asking valid doubts. And this helped a lot for me and my team members too..
Perfect timing to find your channel Linda. I'm rejoining the work force after 10 years at home raising children. I'm terrible at interviews and terrified to say the least. Thank you for the valuable tips. 🙂
Linda, I just interviewed this week using your strategy. It worked like a charm. I felt very comfortable and authentic using it and the interviewers responded well to my answer. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your VERY PRACTICAL EXPERTISE!
I’m going with “In the past I have given too much responsibility to junior staff. In one example they were overloaded with work, and did not get the job done right. I have worked to resolve this issue by making myself more available to my team, and letting them know they can feel comfortable approaching me about things they are not confident in doing.” Even though I am not applying for a management role, I think I’m using this.
I stumbled on this video 2 hours before my interview, and I'm glad I did. It helped me with my responses to the panel of interviewers, I'm so excited and hopeful. I look forward to coming back with great news that I got the job. You're doing an amazing job, please don't stop. Your tips are clear and practical... Thank you for all the tips.
My last interview I was asked what my weaknesses were. I looked at him and told him, "the best way to know my weaknesses would be to contact a former supervisor". (As far as I am concerned, they are the best ones to ask that lame question.) BTW, the guy interviewing me laughed when I told him that. And he even offered me the job!
Very helpful advice. Summary of the good advice: A weakness is not a personality trait. A weakness is not a strength in disguise. A weakness is situational, it's something you are aware of and you've taken steps to address it. Example: "When I have a problem that warrants urgent attention I like to address it quickly. It was pointed out to me by a coworker once that I had a tendency to send an email and then show up at their desk 10 minutes later. I'm pretty sure I adopted that habit from my manager actually." How did you fix it? "I found the '!' button on outlook and if I need something quickly I'll give a little information about why it's important and I started following what I call the 30% rule, which is I try to estimate when I need something by and then I give an estimate that is 30% shorter than that, and most times I'll get it by the time I need it." Exercises @ 3:16 Template: When ______ situation comes up at work, I tend to _________. Follow with a story.
I am a hard worker which means I don’t always take breaks or stand around talking to my coworkers. And I am a perfectionist which means I am more thorough and therefore take longer than my coworkers that don’t pay attention or don’t care. So I might look slow and unsociable, even though I’m probably doing more work than them ( which makes me tired and a bit resentful). So these may not just be “strengths” but perceived weaknesses.
Questions: What are your weaknesses? Answer: I'm not a super hero, I'm human, so let's see...fire, poison, blood loss... heck, probably that stapler on your desk if it hits me in the right area.
I had this question before and I got "C-" in my interview and felt like, I have been thrown under the bus! But now, I know how to tackle this question! Thank you Linda for your advice and your strategies to over come this twisted and confusing question!
My only weakness is that if you want me to do work I would rather binge watch my favorite series. Then when that’s done, I’ll think of the work and start a new series... That said, I don’t think that’s a weakness. Because it makes it possible for me to speak to anyone about their favorite show and improves my communication abilities
My english ability may be biggest proplem at this moment, however that is a temporary proplem, I definetely will try my best to improve my english as fast as possible Thanks for making this video, it is very useful with me Good job
Being honest about your weaknesses will put you in a place to take fewer punches and minimize being knocked off your path to success. Taking on the challenges of life, business, work, health, and family means you will have to take and throw a lot of punches. Thank you!
your commentary on having a personal brand pretty much nails it! Thanks for such a great overall understanding of how to sell yourself via storytelling and confidence in who we are, what we have to offer, and getting past the "oh, I don't have any experience for this job"

A LOT? *sigh* i feel like crying in the corner of a dark cave... i never got great grades... my peak was in elementary and middle school and then it got worse later in high school and horrible in college... and now i'm older than everyone and have nothing going for me
Sounds like me.
K Julieeya Wow. It's like you read my mind or something.
how can i convince other very smart lookin people to hire me when i wouldnt even hire myself?
Don't feel bad about yourself. I have had the same struggles. Maybe get some counseling or read a self help book. The job placement office may help u.
Something to work on...practice interviews with yr family?
Wow. You put a lot of content into your videos. Don't stop. I would be interested to know, what is your weakness?

Her weakness is that she's too busy to read to your comment to let you know what her weakness is
You probs want something to do with her in a sexual way
@@daivikwadhwani4149 ahaha
Going for a series of interviews, having watched some of your videos I feel so confident, thanks for the job well done
Andile Stulo Hope you did well and got the job you love!
My biggest weakness:- sometimes i tend to steal others weaknesses from the comment section ;)
Does anyone literally struggle with talking about yourself when they ask you these questions
This reminds me of STAR. Have your STAR stories ready for your interview. STAR is Situation, Task, Action, Result. A situation about a task, what action you took and what was the result.
I'll just copy this answer to use for my interview. Hope the interviewer doesn't watch this channel or I'll get found out LOL
I like how you framed the weakness as a transient quality that only comes up in certain situations instead of an always occurring character trait, because it really is only temporary. When you recognize it and takes steps to improve, it’s no longer a problem 👍
Since then I know my weakness
I'm too perfectionist 😔 coz I'm afraid to get in trouble and I want everything to be perfect, in organize and everything is well done
Here's the perfect answer to "What are your weaknesses"......
"I don't feel I have any weaknesses, but at the same time I understand that there is always room for improvement!"
Andy Cordova nice ty
Andy Cordova , good one
you should make your own videos dude

@@xiaoxun4108 hey yes i got it,thank you a million times, your videos helped a great deal
I feel that I'm so lucky to see your channel right before I have an interview for the job that I really want. I love the way you encourage the viewers a lot. Thank you so much for your ultimately useful videos. Love to see more of your videos in the field.
Trà My did you get it?
Trà My love to see you soon with some friends of the first time I puuurrred.
I will be able too be
I used this strategy in an interview today and it worked out so well. Thanks for all your great videos & advice! :)
Also if anyone is asked to give a weakness & strength in the same question it helps to start with the weakness. It shows that you embraced the difficult question / challenge first while also ensuring that the last thing the employer heard was something positive about you
Amanda DeNardo that's great! I love this! Glad to hear it worked well for you!
thanks @amanda denardo
*Great advice Amanda!* 👍
Amanda DeNardo good job :)
I'm going to take an interview tomorrow, and that job is actually my dream job. I do hope I can land the offer!! Thanks for all your videos, which are really helpful!! Wish myself good luck!! :)
Did you get it?
In a situation where I get to learn new things I have tended to ask many doubts this made me appear extra enthusiastic . As a result I have learned to research first and started asking valid doubts. And this helped a lot for me and my team members too..
Perfect timing to find your channel Linda. I'm rejoining the work force after 10 years at home raising children. I'm terrible at interviews and terrified to say the least. Thank you for the valuable tips. 🙂
Interviewer: What is your weakness
Me: Chocolate mmm
Interviewer: *(burst out laughing)* you are hired
Interview in 30 minutes 😬
Howd it go?
Flying Pigeon got the job!
@@GraceAction Omg gratz!
I need more senarios. Till today i cant find a good answer for this question
Hey there, I can help! What type of industry are you applying for?
Linda, I just interviewed this week using your strategy. It worked like a charm. I felt very comfortable and authentic using it and the interviewers responded well to my answer. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your VERY PRACTICAL EXPERTISE!
I’m going with “In the past I have given too much responsibility to junior staff. In one example they were overloaded with work, and did not get the job done right. I have worked to resolve this issue by making myself more available to my team, and letting them know they can feel comfortable approaching me about things they are not confident in doing.”
Even though I am not applying for a management role, I think I’m using this.
So did you get the job?
What are my weaknesses? My upper body strength.
Don't think I'd use these answers it just sounds like she's reading off a script.
Can I say overthinking would be one of my weaknesses ?
Watching this bc I have an interview tomorrow and I’m nervous bc I really need this job 😩
Very helpful advice.
Summary of the good advice:
A weakness is not a personality trait.
"I found the '!' button on outlook and if I need something quickly I'll give a little information about why it's important and I started following what I call the 30% rule, which is I try to estimate when I need something by and then I give an estimate that is 30% shorter than that, and most times I'll get it by the time I need it."

Do answers need to be so perfect ?
“My weakness is that I have no weakness.”
Having a job interview later today and I’m NERVOUS lmaooo..... thank you for this video tho I hope I get the job!!! 😢
I hope you got it! =D

Questions: What are your weaknesses?
Answer: I'm not a super hero, I'm human, so let's see...fire, poison, blood loss... heck, probably that stapler on your desk if it hits me in the right area.
Hi Lynda, what about a video on "what are your strenghts?"
Maria Chechi for your time in my case I need to get back with you
My interviwer jus ast me this I'm int the bathroom tryna come up with my aswner I have alreadly taken 5 bathroom greaks with me luck
I don't know why they ask something to set you up for failure. I hate head games.
because HR people are some of the most sick and disturbed twats there are
I had this question before and I got "C-" in my interview and felt like, I have been thrown under the bus! But now, I know how to tackle this question! Thank you Linda for your advice and your strategies to over come this twisted and confusing question!
I do not have weaknesses! I am perfect
😂😂🤔
In away, isn't weakness something of a perspective? Like, she said being impatient is a weakness, but someone else may not see it thst way, lol.
it's funny i literally have no weakness..
MCSGproject my weakness is that I wish I had weaknesses but I'm working on that😂😂😂😂😂😂
yeah i know, i have to act stressed around my friends sometimes to fit in
My only weakness is that if you want me to do work I would rather binge watch my favorite series. Then when that’s done, I’ll think of the work and start a new series...
That said, I don’t think that’s a weakness. Because it makes it possible for me to speak to anyone about their favorite show and improves my communication abilities
Maybe your weakness could be that you struggle with introspection, hahaha
I get so stressed out, even with the videos and advice... its so hard finding a job.
I used the perfectionist before and she just asked me the question again and I didn't know what to say.
Lmaooooo
My weakness is not knowing what my weakness is or maybe im just conceded.
Falo MY weakness is knowing I have two bodies in the trunk of my car when I know for a fact, there's room enough for five.
scottystiffchicken lol
How about you can't spell? (conceited) ;-)

AngelQM How about not being an asshole about it, as English could possibly not be their primary language.
Honestly whats the point of this question in the first place?

My english ability may be biggest proplem at this moment, however that is a temporary proplem, I definetely will try my best to improve my english as fast as possible
Thanks for making this video, it is very useful with me
Good job
I would have to say my greatest weakness is that I second guess myself during certain task I do.
Brittani DuBose that's one of mine that i did not remember. i'm going to use it
Brittani DuBose Brittani, I think we all do that to some level, it gets better the older you get, unfortunately, now your older :) JK
That's kind of like being a perfectionist though
Brittani DuBose me too
Brittani DuBose I don’t like that one. That’s not a good response if you are in the sales field.
Why i came to see this videos only when I have an interview job? it,s 15.24 at 16..0 I have the interview..
Hey there, did you get the job?
Hi Linda..Nice video,.Can you make a video to answer “Tell me about a time faced conflicts and how did you handle that?? “ ..That would be helpful..
Agreed!
