"What am I getting into" I tell everyone everything upfront (if I myself am I aware) and yet I still have people who ruin the entire shoot by quitting or not showing up because they learned it's an indie production. Which has effected our shoots and the plot and characters negatively in a huge way. Like one day I spent thousands renting out multiples spaces in an abandoned office then had all three leads quit on the day of, which forced me to make myself a major character and ask my zombie friend to play the parts. Because there's no way I'm wasting that money and canceling the shoot. And they had never seen the script or read a line before. So, I think it's cool they auditioned at Raimi's mom's house, it reminds me of my shoots. I liken my film to be "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things" or "Evil Dead" not WWZ or I Am Legend. I tell them all this upfront and advise they watch the movies influencing it, I assume they don't when they show up and see there is no crew. It's just one writer/director with an old camera doing everything from sound to lighting to practical effects alone directing a team of 15 people. What they don't realize is, even Martin Scorcesse said in a recent interview, Hollywood lacks the one man artist with a camera.

I would like to contradict what I said about people quitting because they think they're too good for the film, one positive aspect making me a character in the film drastically changed it for the better. The film lacked a villain (other than the zombies) like Shane in Walking Dead. I like to think my character filled that void.

A.I is a choice. Just because the tech exists doesn't mean you have to make your films with it. Like 4K, I hate it. I refuse to use it. But when Avatar came out it seems everyone saw that as a must to make their films like that, even though no one said "For now on all films will be 4K". It's sheep mentality.
