One thing I learned from this is that being roommates may have it’s difficulties, but it’s about working together and solving each other’s problems. If you don’t like something, discuss it with your roommate, don’t be a child and act stupid because it’s not gonna get anything solved, it’ll just make things worse. Honestly my sympathy for her ended with the light situation. Just because your roommate has a social life doesn't mean you get to be salty about it. You're an adult. You need to be civil and learn how to compromise. When you share a room, you need to learn how to work together to create a friendly environment, not be a petty little brat and try to controle the whole room. Speaking from experience, I had a roommate who would enter the room and at 2- 3:00 am turn on her bright ass light and talk to her friends and boyfriend as loudly as possible on her phone. Although I would leave to the library and study, and would bend over backwards to make her comfortable, she would act as if I was a guest or I didn't exist and do things (sometimes sexual)that made me feel really uncomfortable. It got to the point where I had to move out of the room, because she just wasn't interested in compromising and I was loosing a lot of sleep and weight over the stress. If you ever get a roommate that doesn't respect your wishes and tries to control the room, then don't be afraid to move out. It is your housing departments responsibility to keep your safety in mind. So if you voice your concerns and are insistent on your decision to move, then they are obligated to move you, if housing space is available. Don't take abuse from roommates and don't feel obligated to make a toxic situation work. Do what's best for you.
