Nice video. I had an x230 tablet that died and ripped the IPS panel from that, removed the digitizer and popped that in my x230 and its much better than the tn panel it came with. I highly recommend this upgrade.
Did you ever do anything with the PCIe slot? I know some folks try a usb 3.0 connection or even additional storage thru small m.2. Some of the usb 3.0 PCIe adapters were getting quite warm I heard tho depending which one you get.
Sourcing the right variety screen is a problem. Most sellers I've seen on eBay & Amazon might list the desired version then say something like "we will send a compatible screen depending on our stock". I want either the B3 or T1. How compatible is a 'compatible' ?
Yes, that's true. It is hard to find the exact model. I also searched a long time. I cannot say how compatible these 'compatibles' are since I gladly got the right one. I wish you success finding the right one!
'compatible' means 2 things, one true, one double-speak (both apply at the same time, at the same auctions, mind you). Compatible No1: it will work when you swap it for your old screen. Compatible No 2 = "it is not IPS, but we know that people are after IPS panel, so we entered the parts No into the ebay auction title, adding the 'compatible', so when you see what you want to see, rather what we say in the product description, or when we don't say anything specific about IPS / Non-IPS, and you order and install and realize it's not IPS and come back to complain, we will point to the auction title of 'compatible', and wait for the next sucker". Basically that's what it is, a scam. Some sellers have at least enough decency to put NO IPS in the title. Essentially, 'compatible' on ebay = non IPS.

Thank you for your comment. The ThinkPad X230 is not very capable when it comes to gaming. Some older classics work well though. If I find some more time to create content in the future, I may do a gaming test :).

FHD mods exist, may be some higher resolution mods also. i have an x201T and an x220 (with the lowest display option) and the 201 is MILES ahead of it in terms of screen quality
You can go even further and replace it to 2K or even 4K (not advised). I have switched to 2K on my old X220, super happy about it.

The 1080p (or X330 13 inch) mod is definitively on my list but not in the near future due to its price and availability ;).

Such a bummer that a 1920x1080 wasn't offered in the original x230. The low res screen is its biggest weakness.

Thanks. No, I did not modify the boot logo. I use UEFI instead of legacy boot which results in this logo.

No deal for me. There's always a catch with third party upgrades. IPS but lower brightness. That's not good.
