Hey R9 390 user here, I was hoping to play Starfield with modded drivers like you did but no chance. The game crashes mostly after couple of seconds, sometimes 2-3 minutes if I'm lucky. I tried some performance mods from Nexus but again, couldn't save me. We'll just wait for an official patch or new modded drivers I guess...
Same exact experience here. Gonna pin this since the 390/290 is vastly more popular. Thank you for sharing

@@IceBergs I have a 290 and have the same problem, if you have rivatuner installed you can see after it finishes fully allocating the VRAM, the game will crash. Literally. Every. Time. I wish there was a way around this but I don't think the card would do very well with this game regardless.
hey man, you ever thought about trying to run chimera os with this gpu, and using the linux gpu drivers? i hear they have better support and are still supported on linux (and am looking at doing something similar). I still think its outrageous that they discontinues support for the fury lineup, theyre perfectly viable gpus. But anyway my thought process behind this is: if its using an updated and still supported linux driver within steam os, and running the game through a compatibility layer (proton), you might have different luck than the stock or modded drivers on windows. havent gotten around to trying this yet personally.
My R9 Fury X is underperforming. It won't play simple games and has framerates in the single digits. It blows my 1060 away in benchmarks and all hardware checks out. Used both AMD Legacy & latest Amernimezone drivers, all distributales. Can somebody point me in the right direction?
me paso exactamente igual con mi R9 290 con multiples versiones de drivers modded. Pasa que starfield usa mesh shaders y estas gpu no soportan ese tipo de rasterizado a demas de que estando igualmente todo en low con fsr el juego ocupa mas de 4gb de vram, por ello se cierra.

Sometimes the Professional drivers work when the Gaming drivers fail.
texture filtering quality works only on dx9 games if you click question mark on the right of this setting you will have the explanation

huh 11900h???? also you're not showing the average or the 0.1% Low....
The 11900H is my benchmarking rig's CPU and is equivalent to about an R7 3700X, and there are not benchmarks because the game crashes within 15 seconds. Sorry. Clearly the game was running in the 40s but it's pretty irrelevant until the drivers by the 3rd party are updated

@@rust2156 You are correct! I made a travel PC called Project Nyacoj that uses a laptop cpu combo from a brand called ERYING. It's very fast for what it is and makes a great test pc for these old graphics cards
If your using amd ... use amd clean uninstall tool.
