    Thanks again, Paul. I was thinking of The Beach Boys this week as I listened to my cherished Jellyfish albums. I would love to see you do a track vs track of Bellybutton and Spilt Milk sometime. I liked your Kinks video and it made me think of Jellyfish. They definitely don’t get the love they deserved, but I know you know how amazing they are.

    I’d really love to see more band collection videos like this. Also the friends with the free stamped in the cover is a promo copy. Capitol would stamp that or “promo” when they sent copies to radio stations.

    Great collection of records and yes, you're not the only one who can't resist buying a better copy of one you already have 😂 Did you know that Holland appears to have had the EP sellotaped to the back of the sleeve on the initial US pressings ?

    Omg...The Many Moods of Murry Wilson! I hope it's as bad as I've always fantasized!😊 I found a mono copy of All Summer Long with the 'Don't Break Down' misprint for 25 cents years ago.

    Great video as always. A few of those Beach Boys related albums I didn't know about. Btw you didn't mention it but have you heard of Spring. It's a group Brian produced featuring his then wife Marilyn. I believe their album came out in the early 70s. It's very hard to come by though. The only thing I could find was a compilation with one of their songs on it.

      Oh yes! American Spring from 1972. That’s one I have yet to get a copy of. Did run across it once but it was more than I wanted to pay.

    I’m on America’s greatest band I really love the beach boys and really enjoyed this commentary. What a great collection Brian Wilson is a one man, McCartney, Lennon, and Harrison and I think your numbers him to just being single. He’s just such an amazing genius. Brian was just quite the guy. Brian went to places the Beatles couldn’t go with his mind! Dennis Carl Al, Bruce, David Marx all great all great all great nobody good quite top the beach boys as an American band

      Murry, Van, Celebration, Looking Back With Love...but still can't be bothered with the 1985 self titled, Still Cruisin', Summer in Paradise, etc. I'd maybe grab a "God Made Radio" on vinyl if a cheap one popped up, but that's definitely not gonna happen.

      @@AsItShouldBePodcast Summer in Paradise is the only BB album I don’t have, and frankly, unless someone gave it to me, there is absolutely no way I will ever have a copy of it. (And even then, I’d look at the person who gave it to me with suspicion.) I rather like the 1985 album…

      @@PapaNicksMusic The 80s production is bland beyond belief but there are a few songs I like on the self-titled album: Getcha Back...I'm So Lonely...It's Just a Matter of Time. I love my beat up Duophonic copy of “The Beach Boys Today!” A few years ago I “upgraded” by getting a mono version thinking that it would be preferable - nope! - the duo is my go-to copy. It just has a certain…atmosphere, or something, that I really like - am I crazy, or are there record collectors that also value that sound?

    • @AsItShouldBePodcast
      @AsItShouldBePodcast  Год назад +1

      Nah, I get it. Certain records sound better with that cavernous sound. I’ve always preferred the over reverberated US mix of I Feel Fine from Beatles ‘65 over the relatively dry UK original. I don’t feel that way about all the reverb drenched US records, but certain ones…

    As soon as you said the album was an inside joke with your friend, I knew it was going to be Looking Back with Love. I am unusual among Beach Boys fans in that I don’t hate Mike Love-I think he deserves a lot of credit for the Beach Boys’ popularity despite his arrogance and buffoonery-but that album is just white-hot trash.
