Everytime that I go back to this movie you noticed that a lot of the alien creatures have huge references to sealife. But when I look at Billy Bones his design looks more like a snapping turtle than a sea turtle.

Then people like the professor looks like dogs that sailors used to keep on ships.
This turtle guy seems more like a Galapagos Turtle. Its quite fitting to the times considering Darwin and the fact its an island animal.

What strikes me with this scene is that later on Jim is telling his mother that he`s always messing things up. Which most likely meant that he thought that it was his fault that the Benbow Inn got burned. But it wasn`t Jim fault that Silver and his crew came to the Benbow Inn and burned the place down. It was just coincidental that Billy Bones showed up. So it wasn`t Jim`s fault by any means. So I feel sorry for Jim.
Agree, Jim's a good kid that means well. Jim gets into trouble at the beginning of the story because he was affected by his father leaving him and his mother, all Jim desired was a father and Long John Silver ends up becoming a father figure to Jim.

In the original book the film was based on, Treasure Island, Billy Bones played a bigger role. Jim treated Billy with respect and vice versa, even when he's sick and was told not to give Billy any rum by the doctor, but Jim did. That's why Billy gave him the map and to beware the man with one leg. It's sad that this awesome version of Billy Bones didn't get any screen time.

yep before sealing him self in the treasure room, flint killed most of his remaining crew(trust issues) and told his first mate (bones) to guard map and make sure no one finds it. unfortunately long john learn about billy bones and hunted him down threw out the galaxy in this very moment.

Voiced by THE ONE AND ONLY Patrick McGoohan. Curiously, his usual speech pattern and cadence isn't that noticeable here. He was clearly trying to avoid his usual McGoohanisms for this role. But then again, since he was playing a dying alien, there wasn't too much room for him to do anything with that except play it straight without his signature McGoohanisms. His last role before his death. He is still missed. Be Seein' You Number Six.

I love that looking glass technology shown in their "windows". It changes depending on your POV (1:53), but it's still digital (3:02). Pardon any accidental misuse of the terms.
I called it Looking Glass technology, because that's what it was called in the 2017 game PREY, where it also existed. In PREY, it was even better.

I was shocked to learn recently that Patrick McGoohan voiced a character in one of my favorite movies... I guess the name never clicked until now. (His voice also sounds quite different as Billy Bones than what I'm used to.)
The directors on Treasure Planet's DVD commentary revealed that McGoohan was sick with a cold when he recorded this part, which actually fits the character well. There was also apparently going to be another Star Trek reference in this scene- after Billy Bones dies, Doppler was going to say, "He's dead, Jim." Pretty ironic considering the name of the character who dies :D

That's why I said *another* Star Trek reference. That line in the movie is hilarious!
McGoohan is actually very good in this. You wouldn't have guessed it was him as he doesn't use his trademark quirks. So he wasn't a one note performer. I think, had he lived longer, he could have (like Mark Hamill has) reinvented himself as a voice actor for animated series.

The clash of old era and new era is incredibly confusing. That’s why this movie is so weird. People were confused why they didn’t choose one over the other. But I can’t say enough praise because there is so much to look at, and it’s all fascinating

You know what makes this Scene a bit more Realistic despite it being an Animated Feature Film from Walt Disney Animation Studios but the Character Billy Bones Dies in the Movie & also his Voice Actor Patrick McGoohan in his Final Role,
Strangely i think it's a bit of a Coincidence that both the Character he plays & the Actor himself both Die so yeah i Researched him on Wikipedia while looking through Treasure Planet on the Wikipedia Page looking through some Articles & one in Particular about somebody's Final Role before his Death so yeah to me his Character plays a bit of a More Realistic Reality with his Voice Actor & by that the Character Billy Bones is left inside the Benbow Inn as it Burns Up & what makes that More Realistic is that Patrick McGoohan was Cremated so in a Way both his Character & himself were both Cremated & yeah what i'm saying is they Both Die together & that's what made this Scene & the Voice Actor both share Realistic Traits with one another.

it was silver he confessed to it and by the end of the movie gave jim some of the treasure to help her rebuild her home.
I don't remember Silver saying he did it. I just remember him giving money to Jim to rebuild the inn. And besides, the cyborg in this video does not have Silver's Irish accent.
When you see the shadow on the wall pointing, it does not sound like Silver. BTW if Silver destroyed the inn, wouldn't he have said, "Jim, I destroyed your home!"

Well someone would eventually find it so he thought that only safe place would be where no one would be thinking to look on his person and if he flew under the radar and didn't get cocky it would explain a few things but that is just my opinion
