- Hello everyone!
I've been playing a lot of Animenz's 2022 arrangements since they're just so good!! Every single one of them has been a banger and I can't stop listening to them (doesn't mean his previous arrangements weren't bangers either of course).
Anyways, here's my cover of Vogel im Kafig! To be honest, I sort of lost interest in this piece about 2 months ago when I was on the final 2 pages since I just couldn't memorise the first 4 pages and the piece just wasn't clicking with me. However, I decided to stick it through since the ending is just too epic and I couldn't just quit just as I got my foot in the door. This recording was extra hard to do since you can very easily mess up on the last page and have to record it all over again T.T The beginning gets old really quickly when you have to do this 10+ times.
Initially, I was planning on recording this arrangement together with Sakayume so I could make use of the U87's but I couldn't get it ready in time so KM184's it is haha. I tried a new camera angle for the ending so you could see the left hand better - not sure if I really like it so maybe I'll just stick with the old style. It feels a bit disorientating but reminds me of Theishter's videos
About this arrangement:
The first 4 pages of this arrangement look deceptively easy since the arpeggios are intuitive and it's mostly slow moving but managing the dynamics was extremely hard since you're trying to build up to the final climax with every note you play. I could've definitely managed that a lot better since some areas are a bit uneven with the dynamics but I couldn't be bothered anymore after about an hour and a half. I still wonder how I managed to set up my mics and camera, and complete a full recording of an Animenz arrangement within an hour when I used to play on the Steinway...
There's not much to say about the ending except that it's so epic and was the main reason I decided to learn this arrangement. The arpeggios needed to be really clear and articulate in both hands in order to convey the "epicness" of this piece - otherwise, it'll sound quite disjointed. Btw, if your piano isn't shaking while playing the end then sadly, it's not loud enough ¬‿¬ but just like Animenz, I was scared of hurting the piano so I kind of held back haha
That's it for this week, next video will either be some OST from Horimiya or Kigeki - whichever one comes first =)
See you next time!
P.S. I really love the bass at 6:34 - Fazioli basses are amazing!!

Dang, another great performance of one of Animenz's arrangements. Loved the dymanic control on this one, amazing work man!
Thanks! I didn’t realise this piece was so heavily focused on dynamics until hearing my recording haha
Like the dynamics of this piece rising from 4:02 to 4:53 and a sudden drop to softness, and most importantly the grand part at 5:24!
:o the man himself! Thanks for the support =D
What a fantastic performance, keep it up!👍🏼
Thank you! I didn't expect a comment this early :o
Great performance! You should have tons of more views on all your videos. I could only imagine playing like this!
You’ll eventually get there with practice!
5:22 The BEST
Glad you liked it =D
mimicked the opening arpeggios from animenz's video really well! great dynamics and fff towards the end haha congrats!
Thanks! I think it was more ff at the end since that's what the sheet music had written - maybe that's why it seems like I'm holding back compared to Animenz haha
@@CharlesMaPiano haha my bad I meant an ff but animenz's finale might have been a little too loud so I guess holding back worked out well!
OMG!!! Thank you😭
Man this sounds amazing 😭 You did such a good job on this song!!
Thank you!
Oh my God Charles, that's a insane performance!!!
Lover your technique and how you put feelings at the piece, really amazing job!!
Keep killing it!!
Thanks =D
this one insane looking grand piano you got there. and the dynamics sound super clean and crisp with this. i often find pianos having lot of vibration in them, thus swinging all strings in it after a while and your playing sounding mushy or dampened after a while. that was it for this piano.
your playing on the other hand was increadible as well. i love that you played on the quieter side in the beginning to make the climax stand out even moren. (or is that just the sound of the piano?) anyways. i loved your performens
ps: animenz unravel when lol
Thanks for the comment! Did you mean the piano sounds dampened? If so, that's probably my fault since I couldn't figure out a good mic position for this recording - everything I tried sounded a bit muffled :/ Perhaps it's because the hammers are new and too soft?
I’ll consider playing unravel when I nail the mic placement and develop my technique more =)
@@CharlesMaPianono. i meant other pianos often sound dampened, when all strings are swinging due to bad piano building. yours sounds amazingly crisp.
and the unravel part was not realy meant serious but i'd ofc love to see your take on such an hard piece
@@Karl_Piano Ahh alright, I'm glad to know other people feel the same as I do about the sound of this piano! It affirms my choice even more haha
WOAH! Its amazing perfomance! Good job
Thanks =D
hi ik age dosen't rlly matter but i just wanna ask how old are u to play with such maturity...
I’m currently 18 turning 19 soon
@@CharlesMaPiano great!
i tried playing this piece and in my opinion this is probably one of animenz's best work. Now this song is out of my league, at least for now, but you my guy are on another level. Are you playing so softly all the time or does your piano sound like that?
I realised it’s a combination of me and my piano since its hammers are really new so it sounds softer. While recording this piece, I also realised I play too softly all the time since I was too afraid to push the piano so I’ll definitely try to play with more confidence in future videos.
Imo, I prefer Animenz's slow-moving and more lyrical arrangements like Sakayume, Sincerely etc
@@CharlesMaPiano Next time you will be better ✅
Good job. Bro, you are almost on one level with animenz😅
But, yet animenz - modern mozart😂
I think I'm still very far haha. Animenz went to a conservatory while I haven't
@@CharlesMaPiano what is conservatory?
Basically music university
It’s absolutely amazing work!!But in my opinion,I think it will be better if you add more power in 05:23
Yeah I agree too, I held back a bit too much there
Wtf your smooth like a bot, at start i thinks its ai creator
Haha, maybe it’s because this video was recorded at 60fps while all my other ones were at 30fps 🧐
