Overall, your 320d e90 is a much better car than the 335i e90. This is in terms of reliability. Sure, the 335i being a 6 cylinder over the 320d 4 cylinder is faster, but by no means is a 320d considered slow. Plus the 320d can be tuned for better performance if that is what you're after.
330i vs 320d as a daily driver - 320d wins. It's more reliable and more fuel efficient while also having great tuning potential. 320d is definitely not slow, the torque is pretty good for a luxury sedan.

Dankie Muzi by this time next year I will be getting my own high mileage car. Could you do a similar video on mercedes banzi or audi?
I say, give them your other bmw and take this one. It has more value for the channel, and it will give you a good balance between smiles and headaches, thus making you a healthier human being 😂😂
I'm currently researching 335i's, and as you mentioned, if you don't have R150k in the bank, it's best to avoid it. My initial choice was a diesel due to its reputation for having a "bulletproof engine" and great fuel efficiency. However, since I only commute to work twice a week, a 335i with its power also makes sense as an additional car for me. The internet is full of opinions, so your friend will have to trust their instincts on this one. I've seen some nice E90 335i models, but they are overpriced, so I'm now considering F30s.
Morena at this moment I just want to listen to your part when it comes to auction car's. We have been to We Buy Cars now let's head to Burchmore Sandton
as a project car its fine it will keep him busy and the price is fair, If he wants an old less stressful BMW he must get a diesel engine one 320d like yours, if he wants a less stressful V6 get a lexus IS or GS from the same time period The IS looks better than the GS though and they have very similar performance to the 335i.
Its in beautiful condition overall. The engine there is the n54b30, won six consecutive engine of the year awards. This is the direction some of us were trying to steer you in when you were high mileage shopping. Im glad you have experience the sound and power delivery of a proper BMW engine.
Not an expert on BMWs but I would go for a 330i which has a naturally aspirated port injected N52 engine which means no carbon build up issues and no turbo issues. A bit low on power but also a little less to go wrong, but if you want to make big power then N54 but it will break the bank.
common problems with the E90s are excessive oil usage and leaks. You should check where you park your car regularly for anything suspicious, whether water or leakage. The other thing is a timing chain. You need to check and make sure that it has been replaced, considering the mileage. A petrol pump can be a problem as well... if any of these are in good shape and oil is changed every 10 000 km, you r car will be fine 🙂 👍, other than that, the engine will fail 😉
N54 twin turbo, in my opinion most reliable engine ever made. Had a 135i with a stage 1 map, drove it from 50k kilos to 120k no engine problems ever. 280kw 670nm
Neat car... Yeah forget about the boot space😂That sound is smoking hot that's why we go for these cars.... Gotta love the 6 cylinder sound❤. Go for it project car 🎉
Good stuff! I've been following your channel for quite a while now, and I'm loving your content. You've covered most important topics, but can you do one more about car segments? I know you've talked about car segments and their price ranges, but can you dive a little deeper on the topic? I'd love for you to explain more about the classification process for those of us who care about how we spend our money. That way, we can be aware when a car is way too expensive for its segment and so forth.
As a project car I find it faultless mainly because of the power it has and the tuning capabilities(if the buyer likes headaches). Overall I would recommend it for it's intended use.
honestly that looks like injectors to me especially considering the smoke. A set of new index 12s will cost you over 60k and even used ones fetch a premium nowadays so just mix and match injectors as needed and code them. Just make sure the smoking isn’t because of something major like a head gasket as many people will say the smoking is usually because of turbos. (Don’t ask me how I know) And the oil leaks/gaskets are pretty much every bmw territory so it’s not the end of the world and not the worst to do. OFHG, VCG etc. If it’s a project then a down pipe and tune will make it significantly faster and allow you to gain over 30kw
Also couldn’t make this out so clearly but you might need a charge pipe as the stock one is garbage. I can see the ofhg leak as well and the deceleration smoke might be turbos as well. The labour for it is a pain
The n54 is a go area The twin turbo there will show you flames and you'll hate bmw The Morena must search for 323,325 or 330i/d if he wants six cylinder engine. Those N52s are bullet proof Other get him in the 320d like yours

04:19 speaking of power 225kw/400nm is a reason BMW tuned the current M135i xdrive to have similar power as all "35i" albeit "M135i xdrive" is just a 2.0t FWD-bias AWD system pushing 221kw/450nm . Thats how tech has moved 2l engines matching 3,4,5. and 6l engines.
