It is always good to talk about why we consider something a miss and that that's not necessarily about our abilities. Sometimes it's an experiment that failed, a fabric not behaving as we expected, or just a small mishap causing lots of extra work and the garment forever living in the naughty pile in our mind. There are still lessons to be learned in all of this. But I really enjoy that you're not using misses to tear yourself or your skills down. Because nobody needs or should put themselves through that kind of negativity. Some things can't be rescued (Vogue sleeves), and other times the healthiest thing to do is walk away/toss it in the dog bed stuffing. ❤
I liked all of them; you're an amazing sewist. Styling a little differently like adding colour around your face with a scarf or adding a nice wide belt can sometimes make a difference. Love your honesty. Great video.
I very much agree with the order of your favorites, but I think the tiger dress should have it's own category---genius effect, yields more than the sum of its parts. And that you should have a category for great saves for that dress that you filled the sleeve gaps in!
Beautiful garments! ❤ And my personal favourite from this year, the pansy dress, made it to the top 5 😊 💃 The khaki dress in another colour, and fitted so the bra doesn’t show, would be a stunning dress. But I understand why this version isn’t a favourite. Lot’s of potential though! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, it’s always interesting to hear how someone sees their own creations ❤
For the patches could you add a zip to the lining to access the inside - that’s how all the school uniform suppliers do it (could be a concealed zip etc.
Thanks for sharing; I watched this even tho' I watched the longer video. I love the fabrics and am happy seeing them again. I learned to sew knits way back in the early '80's and, this won't relate to your stripy top, using the high bust measurement as the full bust measurement on standard patterns will make the fit much better. You are hard on yourself, I think, but that's how one improves and I look forward to 'the projects that scare' you in this coming year. Thanks again.
Love your favourites, I thought it was interesting that they are mostly from the end of the year, but I hope that is a reflection of a better headspace, and its nice to see that so many of them were risks or mashups. Sad to see that none of your cobra corsage collection made it on there, but again maybe that was a headspace thing and at least they weren't in the fails either! PS I really like the green dress, esp thinking of the amount of gaping and twinges we put up with in RTW clothes. But if such little niggles are in your bottom 5 it really has been a good year!
I can totally see your points on the safari dress, but I think I would still wear it as a transitional piece, with a cardigan and a scarf? The overall look and fit are good. Or at least make the bottom into a skirt? Love the pockets and belt loops. I have a similar project in mind in an olive fabric I found at my local thrift store. It was only 50c but I didn't have any change on me so the lady gave it to me for free! So it's really a no risk project, other than my precious time.
Love your style, so get both top 5s. I think my favorite of your 2022 makes has to be the set of Vogue shirt (the one with the bow) with the ocry/rusty, was it wool? Skirt and the waistcoat. That live on in my dreams 😉💕😽💕
About your rib knit fail, it could be the pattern you chose. Take a look at the Hepburn Turtleneck by Itch to Stitch. I've made that one many times from rib knit fabric, and it's one of my favorites! Good luck!
I think you made some lovely items and your hits are great. I also really like your 2nd and 3rd misses and definitely wouldn't classify them as such. That stripe fabric really suits your colouring, and the slightly batwing shape sets off your waist really nicely. I get that you don't like how it feels and won't change your mind about this particular one, but do think you should look to get some nice similar stripes as visually this really suits you. I also think that pinafore looks great on you, but that's just a personal taste thing: we all like different styles and looks.
I can understand why the Cardamon doesn’t float your boat but I think you look cute in it. I love the idea of the border jumpsuit and agree there is something not 💯 but so much potential in that approach.
I love the green McCalls sleeveless dress. I love it on you too but I get that it’s not your fav. I want to play in your closet so many gorgeous creations
I like the bodice of the jumpsuit, and the placement of the border print, but the legs are too much. I would salvage it by undoing the crotch seam, cutting off the excess between the legs, and converting it into a skirt. I’d shorten it as well, then I think it would make a lovely dress. Also, it’s easy enough to make a small dart in the armhole of the sleeveless dress, something I often do for a better fit. I like your new hairstyle, it really suits you.
The pink striped sweater fabric is something I would never expect you to choose. It really looks cheap to me like something off a market. What a shame.
Have you actually worn the patch jacket out? I love my Sorrento. That jumpsuit is gorgeous, love the idea but it was riding up your bum bum a bit. 😂 as everyone has mentioned, even your fails are beautifully made. 🎉
Surprised that one of the leafy magnolias didn't make the list...but that's because I want the short flutter sleeve, circle skirt one for me...and haven't mastered rolled hems on light flooffy fabric yet🙃🦥
Take heart, even your misses are beautifuly made. There are enough nasty peope out there so you need to be kind to yourself. On a light note. I need to have lots of hits this year as I've bought my hubby a very small 🐕. Well done
Apart from that hideous fabric from your dressmakers ball dress even your fails are beautiful. Could you turn the shirt dress into a skirt as this looks wonderful on you and would move the colour away from your face? I like the cardamome dress but I would prefer it as a pinafore and separate shirt. All your successes are absolutely fabulous.

I am amazed by your sewing skills 🤗

I LOVE that brown flowery pinafore dress, it's gorgeous! Lynne🍀😍
The tiger dress is amazing but my favourite is the pinafore especially with the blue dress under it. 💝 xxx

Love the Sorrento - one of my own fave makes of last year too - and the tiger dress looks amazing!
For the patches could you add a zip to the lining to access the inside - that’s how all the school uniform suppliers do it (could be a concealed zip etc.
Oo I wondered why there was a big zip on my lads blazer, thought it was a secret big pocket 🤣 thank you you've solved a mystery for me x

Agree with your lists - absolutely LOVE the tiger dre’s and your approach to cutting it out was inspired.
sorry - wont let me edit - tiger’s eye
I really love the jumpsuit and I hope you remake it.

I looove the jumpsuit on you. Its so beautiful. And the McCalls 7623. For me they are definitely no fails
I agree with your 5 misses!

I hope you're able to work out a style of jumpsuit that you can use with a border print. It's such a dramatic concept!
When one has a dress that makes both the top 5 hits and the top 5 misses, that is a good year!

Sian: The patches on the jacket added up to 120 pounds.
Me, an American: Gosh I didn't know patches were so heavy
You are not the first to think that! ;)

I used bias binding for the hem, made from the same fabric as the dress! Worked a treat :)

I must agree with you on the color of the green dress. Not a great green for you.
