Agreed, although I’d only consider the Leon PHEV. It’s lighter than the Formentor, with the same power train, so better performance and economy and lower centre of gravity, so better handling, and arguably better looking. On top of that, it’s cheaper. For anyone truly interested in driving, it’s a no brainer.
@@Crosshead1 I was definitely looking at the Leon a few months back as the obvs choice. The opportunity of the AWD though for the formentor is a great appeal for me as well
@@MrPJMCSHANE Fair enough. Probably important in the higher power models but not so much with the PHEV models. And I’m just not a fan of higher riding SUVs. Give me a hot/warm hatch any day. I have a mate with a MB AMG A45S. Now there’s a hot hatch that NEEDS AWD.
I have this car in the VZ2 310 bhp version, yes it is very good but there's that infotainment system that's full of bugs and does some weird stuff like not letting you enter the car, or it can make random phone calls to even slamming the brakes on for no apparent reason whatsoever as just a few examples. VW know about this problem as it's a similar problem across their range of cars fitted with this infotainment system but the Formentor has many electrical niggles that need sorting, what are VW doing about it? Very little.

I'm eyeing the CUPRA PHEV range for Australia with eager eyes as they seem to nail the performance vs economical balance extremely well
