Just come across you ... just getting back into mountain biking this year after 20 odd years off , not been to a trail centre yet doing my own thing up into the hills ... still riding the same bike, an old Orange C16 rs , Pace 36 forks n all. Ebike on order and this place is only an hour and a bit away! Woah
Thats an epic looking trail. You got the weather that day, maybe even a wee bit hot for the climbs. I can relate to being off the bike, l picked it up again last year after well over 20 years off. I took the easy option though and went e-mtb. Keep up the good work. 🤙🏴
#trailsfromthedarkside Thank you! An e MTB would be great there as you could probably get another descent or two in (make up for all that time off bikes😉) Also it looks like the Cafe is back open again so I'd probably give it another go sometime and loop the top section now I know what to expect. I'm sure with your editing you could make a great video there👍🏻
Was up at Blue Doon on Friday. It was a bit sketchy first run but by the 4th run it was bedding in better. Fancy these trails though. I started in 1985 on a Raleigh Maverick. Had a few breaks inbetween, but back on it big time. 🤙
Nice one! A Maverick, that is a blast from the past, good to hear you are back in again👍🏻I'm hopefully going up to The Nevis range on Wednesday and they should be running nicely after some rain.
Another great video, it just makes you want to get out there. I subscribed to your channel, lots of great trail recommendations, keep them coming. I have just got back into mountain biking after 25 years, loving it.
Thanks very much I appreciate the support! I finally got my new bike after a 4 month wait so I'll be back with more content soon. Glad to hear you found MTB again too 👊🏻
Oh can't say yet. I'll do a "new bike day" video and shakedown ride once I'm sorted. It's not an e bike this time although I was a whisker away from getting another one. I think they are great and have tried a fair few and been really impressed. The last rides on the Mondraker Level R and Crafty R were superb!
Great Vid Mate. If you want to work on your natural trail riding I can recommend Blairadam Forest. Up the M90,just North of Dunfermline next to Kelty.Trails galore in that place 🤘
BTW a lot of the top used to be forested but they had to close the centre for 6 months plus to hack thd trees away due to disease. The top bend that caught you off guard used to be more obvious in the trees. A mate went right off there once. Gave him self a right clatter.
That would have been cool to ride that section through the trees. Yeah you're right it just appears when you are picking up the pace and an awkward place to loose it!
Love it at Glenlivet. It's a wee bit further away from me than the Fochabers Monster trails but it's worth the extra 30 mins in the car. Pity there's not more single-track onbthe climb but the view at the tops worth it. More trails planned soon apparently.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know a method to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
@Reed Benton thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Bit like you, I haven’t had a mountain bike in probably 20 years...I live (probably) within 50 miles radius of you...I’ve just ordered a hardtail MTB, been riding road/very light trail on a early hybrid/gravel bike. Do you think the full sus is really required for some of these routes? Starting to fear I’m in for a bit of a bone shaking when doing glenlivet/Comrie Croft/Glentress/fort William etc
No not necessarily you'll be fine on a hardtail when you are getting back into it. Riding a hardtail might make you a better rider in the long run. You can easily ride Glentress and Glenlivet. Fort William witches trails lower down would also be good but not for the top runs. Comrie again would be fine but you can get away with more on a full sus on the routes further up. You can always hire a full sus there if you want to try them out side by side for future reference. Good luck you'll be wondering why you ever stopped before👍🏻
@@TheFlowingScotsman thanks for the reply! I guess, even a rigid frame can go anywhere if you take your time! Hopefully get a few of these in through winter...I’ve still got the skills to distribute my weight well and manual so it’s a bit like the old saying - it’s like riding a bike! Maybe see you on the trails. Keep up the good work, your videos are my homework for where I’m going to try!
The address is; Glenlivet Bike Trails, Kirkmichael, Ballindalloch, AB37 9AR Pay and display car park £1 for 1 hour, £2 for 2 hours or £3 for the day. Its reopened again and they've built an orange jump line in the park since I was last there. Looking forward to trying it out again and see what else has changed.
That's a brilliant flow trail
Yes it's great! looking forward to trying it again at some point now I know what to expect.

Ideal place to progress all you skills. You'll have a blast going from the retro bike to a new e bike!😄
Great vídeo man, and Nice place to ride.
I subscribed your channel.👌
Obrigado, it's much appreciated!!
They've built a few more trails since my last visit so I'll need to get back and check them out.
@@TheFlowingScotsman 👌
The forest moon Endor and the speeder bike chase :)- looks a lot of fun there
Give that man a cigar! That's the one 👍🏻

@twowheelfix Nice one. I'd like to try that top loop again someday. Cheers mate 🍻
@@TheFlowingScotsman I've been here a couple of times and top loop is excellent. Golspie is another great place if you've not been. 👍

@@TheFlowingScotsman Sounds good. I'm already making plans to try and get out there with my bike and have a go myself.
Had a DP Firebird to, green skyways and mushy grips , wish i had it now .
Mushy grips were great. I had acs z rims, dp ladder bars and all custom parts. Shame It would be worth a few quid now.
