Making a Trifold Long Wallet // Leather Crafting ASMR
This is a fun leather crafting project I just finished designing! This trifold long wallet is an interesting leather wallet design because it manages to remain fairly compact and slim while holding a ton of stuff. The exterior and interior shells are the same size, with cutouts to create bill/receipt slots underneath the pocket and zip pouch assemblies. For this leather wallet we used Hermann Oak London Tan Bridle leather and Ritza Tiger Thread :)
The blockbuster card will never cease to amuse me.
This wallet is handcrafted to last forever. Just like my happy memories of Blockbuster Video. Beautiful make, Eric!

Easy trick to up your ASMR game: take an audio recording of you doing nothing (“room tone”) and lay it over the whole thing, so that when you decrease the volume for the loud bits, the white noise sounds like it stays the same. Love your vids! 😊

(Also if you have time, how on earth do you get your pricking irons out so easily?)
Bees wax…. Take your pricking irons and press them Into some beeswax… they will slide out much easier… I do that with my pliers irons as well… made a world of difference :)

How you doing? Do you always use the same leather for the inside of wallets 2 to 3 Ounces? How do you make it darker instead of looking all natural? Do you by it in 12"x24?
Sheeesh dude can you please make a full skiving tutorial? I'm having so much trouble here trying to skive my edges and you make it look so easy I get a little mad haha

Gosh I've got about 30 sketch books from the last 10+ years of designs haha! We make and sell wallets full time with Corter so they're usually a custom order or they get sold afterwards

Beautiful work! I’m a new subscriber. Question, why do you use contact cement sometimes and double stick tape other times? Great channel btw.👍🏻
Great question! I use the tape when I have to center a piece of leather in the middle of another piece - when it's floating. That way it's not permanent and if I mess up I can lift the piece and try again. I tend to use cement when I'm gluing along a seam because it's much easier to line up and i can trim/sand the seam after to even it out

I’m new to leather craft. Forgive my question, but what stitch are you using?
Will a trifold wallet stay folded? or do i have to constantly put something above the wallet. I am thinking of making one myself.
Eventually the leather will conform to the desired shape. You can always condition the leather to help it get more comfortable in your desired shape/layout.
Who do you buy your ATG tape from, I lost my supplier when I closed my art gallery and frame shop after Hurricane Ivan back years ago and have not kept up with who is selling that type of supplies today.
1:30 the knife/tool is so sharp and satisfying that I won't mind a cut from it.

I want to start making leather wallets, where do I begin?
Purchase templates, so you get the idea and feel for sizing, order of operation, and better idea for long-term tools (buy entry cheaper first, then buy more expensive tools after you understand which tools are better at higher end of market). Learn how to sharpen all tools along the way!
Love this, but not with the zipper portion… would just leave that out and make that area into another slot for bills …
