I tried dairy farming on my own, 1996 bought 65 milking cows. Went out of business 2 years later. I sure do enjoy your videos thanks for sharing.
Love this stuff.Andy looking great.
i wish you could talk and show more about your cows and each group if you could
Really enjoyed the feeling video.thanks.
this video of the closer look at the cows is more enjoyable than when you are further away they are you backbone and very healthy to me i enjoy all your videos
Thank you
Farmed all my life but I salute the dairy farmers like you! The dedication and work it takes is unreal! You are the Navy seals of the farming community! Best wishes to you and your family Andy. I salute you!
couldn't agree more .
Good luck feeding your cows Andy
Great video and narration. Cows are inside being fed making milk, you all are outside and moving along. The milk makes it way to the city where all the people are corralled. You have the right idea. Love the open spaces.
Very kool feeding video congrats on the new mixer loved seeing the cows as always
Andy I don't think I could back out of the barns but would take lots of practice and I bet Andrew could do it better than me. I love ❤️ watching him as there is nothing he can't do at a such a young age, same thing goes with your daughters, I have all the respect for you. I can't believe all the stuff you and the guys fix and imagine how much you save the farm on repairs and money !
Always like the feeding videos,it shows how well you look after your herd, and it seems to me that they are quite content.Great job Andy & Co🐄🚜👍
Lot of feed in a day 🌽🚜🐄👍
Farming, Fixing,Fabricating& Feeding ! True definition of someone that doesn’t do much F-ing around! Thanks Andi for taking all of us along for the ride!
Great video Andy
Feed the cows milk the cows send the milk spend the money and you get to do it all over again everyday.
Yes
You forgot the part that after spending the money....hope there is money left over to make alittle money....and repeat...
@@carsons6519 with all the good commodity prices it seems like the everything else just keeps going up so there is no money to put in the pocket you just turn over a lot of money.
Thank You
I was very happy to hear you talk about the importance of sanitizing vehicles and visitors. Solid information.
Andy you are very good at backing up with the feed wagon. Very interesting video.
You should do a tour of the freestall barns sometime showing what they have for cow groups and how it's all setup, as well as the heifer barns.
Good luck feeding your heifers Andy
Very impressed with you and your family all the hard work you all I farmed most of my life and milk cows to how do you milk in all
Very interesting.. I enjoy all your insight & explanations of everything your doing..
I sure like all of your content.! those early morning feedings with it pitch dark out and snow flurries, looks so peaceful and quiet.
It's all about logistics, growing feed, harvesting feed, feeding, milking, getting rid of manure and of course fixin! You get REALLY good at backing..
That's because Andy is The Jack of All Trades & The Master of None
@@kirklothert3435Funny. Andy is one of the most competent farmer/father/fabricator and mechanic I’ve ever had the privilege to meet.
@@patrickgroenewegen... Actually I was being serious but whatever you say
I'm in northern California and I have family who farm as well and it always seems that things always break down when you need it the most . Keep up the good work guys I love watching your videos it's pretty cool how you guys do things and I showed my family a few things that you guys do and it helped my family farm alot there actually building a manure pit under the barn thanks to you guys for ideas 💡😁
Like seeing all the cows
Nice video Andy. Amazing how much work it takes to complete just one facet of the farm, and you have so many parts that make up the whole. Great job.
Them ole mixer tractors get the hours! Run everyday rain/snow or shine. Gotta be one of the most important role on the farm. Nice looking cows keep up the good work!
Great video quite the process to make sure they are all fed
You have an amazing operation
Hey Andy !
i love it watching you feefing .
My fisrt pick from all from you Andy because in feel
some kind of love in it .
animal love you and you love them all .
Congrats Andy you are the man !
Thanks for your time and have a good day Andy Hourigan the great !
Great discussion on dairy health. Great explanation Andy.
nice cow setup enjoyed the video thanks andy
That's truly awesome how your family dairy has been able to keep maintaining your herd without buying new cows! Great video as usual. I know tough to make money milking cows, & expenses being high, hard to make $. Truly shows how dedicated your family is!
Brilliant video 💪🏻 🏴
Really good video I enjoyed it 👍 the cow's look good and very happy.
Thanks for the Videos Andy you Make My Day I grew up Around 2 Dairies and Raised a Bunch of Steers on a Couple Jerseys that I rotated 4 in the morning and 4 Others in the afternoon it saved on Milk Replacer!
The truck feeders seem to make more sense for beef operations/feedlots where the distances are longer and you're not driving in and out of barns. If beef cattle don't get fed so much one day while it's getting fixed, it's not a huge deal. If you change a dairy cow's feed, the results show up in the tank pretty quick.
This is a huge operation and needs some skill and responsibility feeding these beautiful cows. Mixing the right food, ensuring the hotel guests get the right amount is no mean feat. Not to mention the reversing skills needed. Seeing all those cows makes me wonder how much heat they must generate and what the barn temperature would get to. Fascinating Andy, thank you.
Nice video Andy I enjoyed it thank you.
So God made a Farmer!…
A farmer is someone special and those letters have significance. See a farmer is a hardworking man or lady. One that stewards the land and takes care of what God gave them. They are a type filled with optimism during great seasons and often challenging ones too. As we come around to farmers planting there crops soon. Talk to a farmer and thank them for what they are doing. They care about you and would love to describe there passion/ heartfelt job they do to provide food on the table.
One U.S. farm feeds 166 people annually in the U.S. and abroad. The global population is expected to increase by 2.2 billion by 2050, which means the world’s farmers will have to grow about 70% more food than what is now produced.
That’s a huge responsibility!
I would love to see a tour of the parlour if that would be possible but maybe that's a secret place I just thought I'd mention it if you can't you can't that's totally OK thanks for the awesome videos again
He’s said in past videos he won’t ever show it at the request of his milk purchaser. The way PETA is concerning this choice of agriculture is the main reason why.
I miss it. But I don't miss the cold. Thanks brother. Florida Joe
"Do dry cows give evaporated milk"? That's something I really was asked one time! I've done some Ag promo events and participated in local fairs not far from a major urban area. Yes, there are dumb questions...🤔🤠
thats a huge barn you have for the cows + heifers. how many animals have you got .
Andy your video is fine. I think many people just like to hear you talk about what is going on.
Andy ,you have more cows than I have grass
Very interesting Andy . Thank you for sharing the videos with us.
The cows all look good and the new addition blends right in. Does anyone ever buy Hourigan Holsteins? I was working on a farm 30-plus years ago and we had some Koreans stop by. Thanks for the video! The way your kids are coming along it may be the last job available. Stay safe and I hope you have a good day.
Great video on feeding the bucket on the loader is very good feeds the load into to the mixer wagon nice an even so mix’s can mix it even👍🚜
This was your best feeding video yet I really enjoyed it. We'll see how many people ask the same questions even tho they were answered lol
Thanks Adam
Awesome video Andy. Great to see the cows and how great they look. You guys kick ass on your whole operation.
Red holstein at 4:17 😎👍, very nice farm Andy. Gr from a dutch dairy farmer
Good to go along on the feeding task this morning.
Thanks!
To understand everything that Andy does about the fieldwork and machinery end of the business AND still know whats going on in the barn for this very large farm is pretty amazing. So much attention to detail... its really remarkable.
And as a guy who grew up on a dairy farm in NY years ago and knows what it takes, this guy gets all my respect
Awesome trailer backing skills you have!
I've mentioned this before Andy.....but will say it again.......over the past 3 years Americans have been subjected to MORE utter nonsense than any civilized country anywhere should EVER have had to deal with.....BUT THROUGH IT ALL......farmers and ranchers have continued to wake every day, get out of bed, and do their work to feed the country they love....and shared that bounty with the world at the same time. I want you Andy....and family, and your whole crew of employees, and all of the rest of you folks out there who do this work and perform sales and services that support this work....I want you ALL to know how much my family appreciates what you've ALL done for decades....AND ESPECIALLY DURING THIS LAST 36 MONTHS OF UTTER MADNESS......to feed all of us......AND since this country has a "crop of clowns" who hate dairy & meats & methane & animal poop....I'll apologize on behalf of that bunch of BOZOS......as they fry their morning fake tofu bacon up....ON THEIR "NON-GAS" STOVES.
Mad backing skills
Another good video Andy 👍 🚜👏🇺🇲🐘
Now thats a video!! 👍👍
I would definitely have a hard time remembering whats what!
It looks like you've got a hell of a lot of cows to feed
Great video Andy thank you
That makes sense .
Great video, even the dark scenes. Must be hard to keep track of what feed goes to which cows in which barn. Especially for a newbie.
Scary and impressive Andy. Have a great day.
I enjoy watching all of your videos. I am not a farmer but I helped out on a dairy farm when I was a kid. I don't know much about the business side of the operation but the every day work part I loved. My question is, how many cows do you have in your closed herd? Have a good day!!
4,000 head total
Cows are looking good a lot of them are laying down getting plenty to eat they look pretty quiet and not hollering at you
Awesome video Andy. The scope of your operation just blows my mind. How you keep track of all that feeding is just nuts.
The best job I had on my Uncles Dairy Farm was being the feed guy. Always have numbers running through my head. Andy I thought you put some tractors with MFWD's on the mixer wagons this winter.
Haven’t had to yet
A person would get quite good a backing up the feed wagons with your current setup. 👏👏
Happy New Year Andy!!!
Another very interesting video Thank you
Thanks Andy, Great video!!
You back up faster than I drive forward !!!
👍👍
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. From Wisconsin Dairyland 🧀
Can you do a video on the milking side of your operation? Maybe on calf feeding as well?
I think he would if he could. Pretty sure. Need to go to a different RUclipsr. There’s one up in Canada also Several Michigan I think
@@paulprigge1209I think he said a couple of years ago that the Dairy company that buys their milk didn’t want him to for some reason and I respect Andy for keeping them happy. Acres of Clay, Kip Siegler Farms, Rohrer Dairy have good parlour videos in the US. In Canada, SaskDutchKid, Mac Farms do some milking videos as well
@@peewee.3138 you need to address it to Scott Muxlow. He was the one that was asking the question sir.
Watch trinity dairy and gierok farms they do milking videos
A well run operation there Andy .
Nice video Andy I did a lot of feeding when I was working on the farm keep them coming maybe you could do a parlor milk house video that would be interesting to see where and how the milk comes from
I want so bad to see y'all's parlor
Good job, keep up the video's. Hope your leg is better as well as the ribs. Looks like Andrew should get a bb gun for pigeons ....lol
Gotta love riding on those chains
Great content again! You could potentially discuss the TMR and what it is vs the time in lactation as a reason for the differences in the various rations that you feed. Your jiggling camera is due to the chains that you have to run on your tractors. Thanks again!
Nothing a good strong cup of coffee can't fix !!! Shakey to the last drop !!!
Great looking herd. They look a bit spoiled. :)
I used to work at a feed lot and some barns where the cows ate I had to use a rubber tire scraper to clean some of the feed ally's because a bucket wouldn't do anything lol. Tile is a good idea. That sure would take some time to learn how to feed but I'm sure once ya do it enough it's easy
Cows!!! About time!!!!!!! lol.
Quite the operation Andy! ... What's your milking herd count ?
Tks for sharing Mr Andy. It's not like the old days.. feed gain before milking Morning and Evening and in between free feed Hay and pasture. I agree with your out look on equipment. Use what works for you.. just like everyone thinks there way is the best.. thats not true.. but oh well... it is what it is..
Perfect length video here. I bet you enjoy the quiet time of feeding in the morning before the phone starts ringing. Them tire chains on cement kind of rattle you a little. Random question, will your coffee mug keep your coffee hot from 3AM til 9ish when your done? I need a new one that keeps hot
Usually gone by 4:30, but yes it will keep hot for several hours.
What ever works for your operation stay with it
Y'all have a lot of cows.
Very good video. Lots of interesting issues. You answered my question about how you control all of those doors.
Those push out buckets r a good idea for loading those mixer wagons.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
You need to do a parlor tour!
Andy can hired guys remember all of these mixes .and areas to feedlot is this your job all the time?❤
Little too much for them to comprehend
Wonder how much of your milk goes to new York City. Do you work the swinging back with a hydraulic lever?
Good gob
Andy, have you ever accidentally forget to feed a group and realized it and go back and feed them? I would definitely do it once in a while..
It happens, but usually it gets spotted
