Totally agree with you on every. single. point. My account is about 4 months old and I'm personally going through timed run of DD5. When you cap your spending to 6M a day (mark by Golden Opportunities milestone - as a min-max strategy - and it keeps your coffer somewhat afloat) leveling up raid team is pretty much all you can do at this point. Even though raid team is all you got for the time being, they're fantastic work horse for you on everything. I think biggest caveat for replacing any raid team member is their star level. If they have low star, they can be taken out pretty faster than other raid members (at similar star level) who have their team buff support. I started my DD journey before SpSoc, so I build up Robbie at one point. But as you mentioned, there are many raid team members taking the top priority in CC store (and you barely get enough CC credit each week at this point - I always have insufficient credit during the last few days before the payout, even when I buy only raid members), Robbie stays at 3 stars. He did an okay job at first, but higher the DD, the more struggling he has. In DD3, he barely made it through the node. DD4 is the first time my SpSoc is built up enough to run it along side Robbie, and I started to notice that, at least for Robbie at this low star, he doesn't carry the nodes as all the veterans testify and hype him to be; no, my SpSoc carry it for him. He'd die in the node, SpSoc carry the rest, then I wait for midnight reset, rinse & repeat. DD5 is the first time I decided to run full SpSoc (after I realized I'll have to build them for Spotlight Raid anyway), and they steamroll all 3 city nodes in one sitting on auto. With the current outlook, I estimate I have to build them up to G18 for higher difficulty raids, so they'll be my go to for DD6 for sure. After that, veterans warn me about the overlap gear requirement, so DD7 is still open for consideration. BK & Xtreme is similar story, with a little twist. My 3 star BK died in DD5 a few times, just like Robbie, but the twist is, Cyclop is getting replaced by OML in raid, while BK is still meta for endgame (Don't think Robbie is anymore? At least he's falling off, I believe?), so building him still has merit, and I decided to bite the bullet and replace Cyclop with him. My cosmic team is exactly your 1st recommendation, and this is where it is very apparent how much team buff carry the node for you. This cosmic team lacks those buff, and cosmic nodes are a pain for me in DD5. Each node requires a few days to get through. But consulting with veterans, this is probably as good as it gets for Cosmic. The other options are as you suggested, and they're not raid teams nor has any requirement to support you to build them (Kang is key man for Red Hulk unlock, Deathpool & Vahl are for Apoc, Dorm can be argued to be use in Black Cat mystic villains (but I already got through that with Doom before I can unlock Dorm tho), but Eternals are luxury character for you at this point. OML is the exception. He's the anomaly. You can put any Legendary you can build alongside him, and he'll carry the section for you. (Might be exaggerated a bit, but don't think that's too far off. Throw a couple of decent Legendaries with him and the nodes are done in one sitting)
You know your stuff! You're right dd7 is going to be very different. Cosmic has been a pain hopefully we get new cosmic characters by the time we do dd7
Great content and discussion 👏🏻 I am level 95 been palying the game for about 2 years and have made countless mistakes building teams that then are rubbish. Still trying to finsh dd5 and get apoc. I've got most raid teams upto a high level but not got a full spsoc yet....so finding it hard for city node in dd5 is it worth me get apoc to bring him in dd5 or wait until I finsh it?
@@Termz1988 My plan is to finish dd6 then go for apoc. I'd say its personal preference. I was kinda hoping they would ease up a little more on the requirements for apoc. Don't really feel like building a bunch of useless characters for 1 good one
@@Termz1988 I'd assume you mean small Apoc, right? Coz big Apoc requires G17, which is even higher than DD5, so that doesn't make sense. Now, this is my personal opinion, but getting Apoc means building about 20+ toons to G16, and that's if you have unlocked all the horsemen and their teams. If you haven't unlocked horsemen, that's even more toons required building up. IMO, if you funnel all those resources to building raid & DD team, you should be able to finish DD6 before Apoc, maybe? People say Apoc is DD5.5 because DD5 requires G16 and DD6 G18, while big Apoc is G17. I was under that impression too at one point and thought that, since I have gather most of uniques to go G18 on my DD6 team, maybe I can build for Apoc on the side? Then certain content creator (forgot who, probably Boilon?) gave me this reality check. Even if I had my uniques, but gold, training mods, mini uniques, origin gears, and ISO blue required would be huge, and I would rather pour all that into my raid & DD team first. They would produce result faster than going for Apoc, IMO. But after DD6, I think DD7 will be a longggg way f2p. I think Apoc is justify at that point. Also, envoys all said they voiced their opinion about how out of touch Apoc saga is right now, and Scopely did listen to them; and this was long ago. So, maybe the update to the requirement might be out while we're chasing DD6, who knows? Having Apoc is probably great, but not having him doesn't seem too bad for me. In CC & War, you wouldn't run into him on defense since people will likely keep him for attack, and he'll decimate your defense for sure, but only one of them. At the same time, their resources were usually so spread out, they usually find it hard to fight other recent team built to a decent level, and I have successfully punched up horsemen team with the current raid teams many, many times. Arena is probably the only mode that s*ck without Apoc, since it's everyone's best team. By the way, without SpSoc, I'd suggest you look at Sinister 6 & Superior 6. They are farmable now and was my go to for city section before SpSoc. Since you played 2 years ago, maybe you already have some of them? Vulture and Mysterio is really great right now. Try getting Kraven, Spider-Slayer, & Lizard in the mean time (I think they just came in last year so you might not have them yet?). They are faramable right now. Green Goblin Classic is a bit harder to get, but if you can unlock him, just the 3-4 star version can gives you the synergy that really bring the best out of this team; but they are still great without him anyway.
I'm not sure about bringing OML, but I do want to take Black Cat, GGC, Omega Red, and MLF but I don't really know who to bring as a fifth, I have an idea what to bring for the Cosmic and Global, but I feel like I'll bring Vulture through Robbie and I need one more City character

OML is the one character I would take into dark dimension over all others (apoc excluded)
