Skepta definitely must’ve gotten some inspiration from these for those 97’s he came out with a few years ago.

They also have the psi ratio correct on these ... That's something nike needs a hand clap for cause we all know they don't make sure the shoes have the original feeling and these do

Somebody said they look like Target or k Mart shoes from the side and I agree. No nike ✓ or nothing and the design and material of the shoe. I do wish they added a Nike or air sign in the sides but they look cool
The Tuned Air internal elements are Skydex cushioning "pods". Skydex is used as cushioning flooring in boats and various mats etc and other OEM usages. IIRC was also used in some late 90s early 00s Airwalk skate shoes and one brand of running shoes which the name brand escapes me.
Skydex was started by 2 former Nike employees who developed the tech.
I have a pair and tbh they are pretty comfy. I like the cushioned footbed on these, its flat but cushioned pretty well. Different feel from let's say the air max 95 type air unit which imo is top 3 most comfy air max of all time.

Man, I remember when these came out. I wore them just about everyday when I worked at Champs Sports running shipment days. I'm definitely gonna buy them again.
Pretty comfy, I have a pair. It's a different type of comfort bed then say an air max 95. I could wear these allday. The cushioning Is definitely more to the ground but it works.

Ordered mine the day of release and just got it today. They’re super dope and very comfortable.
Those Shox with the Foam were the Shox XT, they were the Shox for cross training to go with the R4 and BB4. There was a Marshall Faulk Rams colorway floating around on the internet back then that I wanted, but they never dropped.
The film/tv references are what makes you guys special. Keep it up and keep safe.
I kinda remember these, it's nice to see them come back. I'm hoping that Nike continues to revive some of their "classics". You guys continue to put out great videos!

I waited for these to release again since. One of my all time favorite sneakers had these when my daughter was born in 99 , one of the 1st if not the 1st to have a color changing chameleon effects...Love these
The tuned air max/ TN line is the result of a collaboration between Footlocker and Nike and was designed by Sean McDowell. In the UK we used to call them and the air max 97/ 98 "One Tens" because they all used to cost £110.
Interesting, I'm French and in France we called the Nike Air Max Plus "Requin" (Shark in English) because of a specific colorway "Neutral grey/Royal Blue" and obviously it shape, some storytelling in this comments section!
This was the first air max i was able to get for back to school JR year. I got them alike 50% on sale at sheikh and you couldn’t tell me i wasn’t killing the game at school
I had a pair of Tuned Air back in 1998ish, some of the most comfy sneakers I've ever had.
I just got the silver ones today just because nobody else has it....I truly truly love this show so much the look, the feel in hand, the look and feel on feet I absolutely truly love these shoes soooo much
These are so comfortable and look way better in person even though they already look cool in videos and pictures. This is my new favorite shoe! I like that the heel is secure and they aren’t that narrow. I have wide feet so I was worried they would be too tight but they’re perfect tts
They are pretty comfy. I wouldn't go as far to say they are more comfy than air max 95' but very similar. The cushioned footbed is definitely more to the ground but it works very well. I would wear these allday on a casual day.
I literally married the Arizona version of Jodi. She tolerates my sneaker obsession, she's okay w/ me being a giant nerd. I've introduced her to so many things like Godzilla & other Kaiju which she enjoys w/ our son & myself. This channel is the best, it makes me so happy day after day. You all rock!!!!
I'm hyped they finally rereleased these and will pick them up. Putting kicks aside, Mechagodzilla hit the scene all the way back in 1974, so he actually predates the first super sentai show and the terminator.
Had to get these...I remember these back in the day about 20 years old at that time and now I feel that being 41 is my time to finally have em. Thanks for the review and the walk down memory lane.

Yes! Been waiting patiently for you to review these. I had a pair in 99 that were silver and teal and they were some of the most comfy shoes I’ve ever had. Not copping this celery colorway but I can’t wait to get the new teal one that’s coming.

I remember having these my 8th grade year of middle school. Judging from a 2021 perspective, they didn't age well. Maybe it's the color, and I think despite me wearing a size 8.5, they'd still make my feet look long.

I love these shoes so much. So happy they retro’ed it! I love the tuned air line....the air max plus tn is my all time fav. So cool they kept the alpha project dots. Rampage was an amazing movie. George the gorilla was hilarious. Godzilla vs Kong was everything I wanted!!

The footlocker Collab is why there is no swoosh on the shoe. I had the the white and blue pair with red accents.

My first ever Air Max bubbles I bought, back in 2000, only the popular cool guys wore these, back then I managed to cop a pair on sale (kids size ) and out grew them in a couple months I was pissed off.
Just recent bought them again for nostalgia reasons £150 Nike Town UK. I love them, dont remember them being so light and comfy. Anyways 👊🏽

I love these soooo much, this is honestly the first time I've ever been so interested in an air max model but this colourway is so hard to find in the UK for a decent price due to the Skepta 97s
The old sole material lasted forever on the originals. I beat these for almost two years. Flossed them, turfed them, then hit licks where I had to run in them because they blending the dark.
I like how the last quarter took a diversion down the movie-route 😁 These are a pair I like the design and nostalgia of but don’t need in my collection 🤷🏻♂️

Also, Nike needs to bring back the Alpha Project, so many dope shoes/shorts/shirts and gear came with those #fivedots

I try to not let that bother me and still wear them everywhere :) the shoes are too cool to not wear them.

I’ll be honest with you, the guys who could afford these when I was growing up, weren’t getting paid legally if you pick up what I’m putting down😂 but if anything that made me want them so much more, when I grew up and could finally afford them, it was worth the wait 🙏🏻

When I saw news about these coming out I was GEEKED!! They're inspiration for the AM 97 Skepta's and since I don't have those these will do 😭still waiting on Nike to ship my pair out tho smh

I had those in the late 90’s. They were so beautiful and futuristic. It fits into today’s sneakers. People complained that they couldn’t match anything with it. Straight BS

The super sentai stuff, in a sneaker review? Dope! And Power Rangers were much later than all other Super Sentai (Flashman, Maskman etc). And I kinda like the Air Tuned Max but maybe in other c/w.

6:04 it was like that in 99. The mesh underneath didn’t hold up the panel and it sank. The shoe is almost exactly like the 99 shoe. It’s slightly darker though, Zack Snyder filtered.

The tuned air were the black air force ones of the UK lol a guy I play soccer with told me those shox foamposite runner was dope
I'm not even going to bother trying to get these because of that sown-on tongue. Whenever Nike makes a slip-on-style build (other than Huaraches and Prestos), they're always WAY too tight on my foot. No high arches, no wide feet, just thick and less flexible. Bummer. I love these.
And the yellow on the sole is more pastel than the originals.

Hey Chris, is the line an actual seam? Or is it just a faux seam to to give it a vintage look?
Here in Australia all the "rif-rafs" also tends to wear the TN airs for some reason. It's almost like a part of the uniforms for them.
Fos some reason, the air max TN (or plus, whatever), is one of the most famous air max models here on Brazil, i personaly a big fan of it tho.
I'm just here to help the algorithm.
