    Very thorough review indeed. Good job.
    As I say, most RUclipsrs just ramble on and on and not getting into the important specs on the item. They just make up time.
    What about the screen? Does it stays on? Does it have a sleep mode? Or a dim mode for that matter? One of the most important info I like is to load test the item and let us know also if it has "pass thru charging".
    I need it to have pass thru charging as it doesn't make sense otherwise.

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад +2

      The screen is always on, but it does go into a dim mode to save power.
      It supports pass through charging, I think I demoed that in the video as well.

    Your reviews are the gold standard. You test every single thing and do it efficiently, nice work. I was debating if I should review this post-crowdsourcing and the DC power off under low loads and overall inefficiency are making me think twice. I get this is a budget unit but still.
    One tip on the Bluetti: do extensive tests of standby losses and compare it to other units. I mentioned it in my review but I’ve been doing more testing recently and it loses 1% per hour if on with all ports off. Turning AC and DC ports on on loses 3% an hour w/no loads (Delta Max is 0.85%/hr). I think it’s way too much if you want to use this for vanlife or camping where you need to power smaller loads over long periods of time. Bluetti chimed in and said they don’t rec using it unless you’re pulling over 300w minimum which makes it much more of a special purpose unit than they market it as. Sorry for the rant but it would be good to have you start testing standby losses, I’m going to do that going forward because large losses can be far worse than an inefficient inverter.

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад +3

      Hey Todd, your videos are also top notch! I was disappointed when I discovered the DC output autoshuts off. Most people don't test that feature out in their review videos.
      Excellent information on the standby loss for the AC200P. I'll keep that in mind for my future power station reviews. I didn't notice any horrible background loss on this one but I wasn't paying attention to that specifically. There are so many things to test on these, it feels a little overwhelming sometimes haha

    • @todd.parker
      @todd.parker 2 года назад +2

      @@Jasonoid Yeah, very glad you tested that because the 12v output's main purpose is powering a DC compressor fridge and it's silly to ask people to attach another appliance to waste power and keep it awake. I'm surprised they weren't willing to consider changing that threshold in the firmware.

    EXCEllent testing/review, you checked out everything that needs/should be tested in a review.
    Having a power bank included in the same device as the UPS function is what makes this a truly desirable device.
    I'll wait & pay their retail price AFTER the "Crowd Funding" phase is over & done with.
    Everything I've seen that is purchased during the Beta Testing "Crowd Funding" phase is problem-prone & I'm unwilling to be forced into being an unpaid Beta Tester for this or any other manufacturer.

    That looks like a good overall package, with a decent price point. The size, weight and form factor are right at the upper limit of what you might call "portable", without being able to break it down into smaller pieces or chain units together. One thing not mentioned is whether or not you can reduce the AC charging from something less than "Super" charging, to reduce the stress on the battery cells. Thank you for doing a thorough review and going through the checklist of its capabilities.

      The charging cannot be lowered from 1100watts, but you can charge it up using a custom DC to DC power supply to get 500 watts instead of 1100w. Something near a 36v @ 15amps would work well on the Anderson powerpole port.

    Great review! Nicely presented. A few thoughts. 1. Are the USB ports considered DC? because you can get like 2w usb lights to usb to keep it on. Like $5 on amazon. 2. A big deal on this one, I think people might not realize is 15amp solar input is really nice.. most like the 200P and others only offer 10 or 12 amps. 15 Amps really help when you push the parallel connection on a sunny day (Not a cloudy day), you can really max out the watts, which is crucial since it only allows 48v input. So if you go 2s2p on some 180w or 200w panels, you can really get the best of both worlds....that being said...3. The ac200p allows for 145V, so you could easily connect 4 panels in series.......but connecting 4 panels in 2s2p on the Oukitel will make its solar connection shine. 15 Amps is really a nice addition you dont see on most solar inputs.

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад

      I agree on the solar being a good balance! My plan is to run 4 180 watt BougeRV panels in a 2s2p configuration to get a good mix of voltage and amps. I'm looking forward to a good sunny day to test it out soon, I'll do a video on it. I put all 4 of those panels in series and I didn't see very many watts on the AC200P. I don't think series connections are the best for output.
      Im not sure if the USB is considered DC output becuase the they are controlled by a separate power switch. I'll have to test more.

    Great review and looking forward to your comparison. I went ahead and ordered since I have been in the market for such a backup power supply. I hope you can communicate the need for them to ramp up the solar charging capacity on their devices. (I enjoyed the hack on their smaller generator but it should not be necessary and adds at least an $85 US cost for a MPPT charger at least one you recommended.) This would check off an important box in features that would make it competitive against Bluetti and Ecoflow products. I am sure a large segment that would be interested are doing so due to prepping issues and not some idyllic vacation in the woods. The UPS feature is definitely a step in the right direction. Also, recommend to them to add that light on their smaller unit instead of that "spotlight version" which is much less utilitarian and aesthetically speaking it can be made more pleasing but that suggestion can be ignored if they can keep the price point 50% less than the competitors. I can add stickers.

But i would rater buy the ac200max cause you can expand it with 2 batterys and it has 2200 watt inverter and 900 watts solar input. But thats just my opinion

    I like the powerstation, just a couple things, the bms doesn't seem to have low temp charging protection, and a higher voltage for solar charging would certainly be better, so you could have 3 180 watt panels in series, or the equivalent, 5 hundred watt panels in series...For the kickstarter price can't really beat it..I've used Eve cells to make several systems..I own the Bluetti AC 200P, 2 home made solar generators and 2 homemade off grid solar systems...Good review, except you didn't mention my two concerns, and you didn't mention if there is a setting to charge it slower, as I wouldn't want to charge that fast ever, unless an extreme emergency...Thanks..

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад

      No way to slow down charging, I gave that feedback to the company since it's stressful on the pack to always "super charge" it.
      Since the amperage limit is 15amps for the DC input, you can parallel 180 watt panels AND put them in series, a 2s2p array would work well.
      I don't think any of these power stations have low temp charging protection, would be interesting to test on all the power stations I have for low temp charging. Great testing idea!

    Thanks for the excellent detailed review. You are giving the guy in the white coat a run for his money for the best power station reviews. I notice there is an FFPower (formerly Bibene) version of this which is a bit cheaper that I think you will be testing in the future.
    Two things concern me. First, your issue with the cigarette lighter port. The four hour cutoff doesn't make sense since your fridge would cycle on and off several times during the four period yet is still shut off. Also Ozark Overland Adventures did a review and he used a Dometic fridge to compare total run time and the Oukitel ran a shorter time than BOTH the Jackery 1500 and even the Jackery 1000 which makes no sense but points to some issues to that DC cigarette port. He didn't see the shutoff issue you did. Your DC capacity test did not yield the best results either.
    I'm curious if these might be resolved by the FFpower version? Anyway I going to hold off for a while and see if these issues get ironed out in later revisions of this power station

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад

      The 4 hour shutoff has been fixed on the FFpower P2001 unit for sure. The DC capacity is the same on both units since they are basically the same, just running different versions of firmware. Expect around 1500 to 1600wh of DC output, my fridge test on the FFpower unit was about 82 hours long.
      My review unit was the "preproduction" unit and gave them so much pressure to fix the 4 hour shutoff. I told them I'd never review another Oukitel unit again if they didn't fix it.... Lol... They finally did the firmware upgrade so the Amazon unit should be fixed on the Oukitel P2001.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.
    This is an energy-saving mode of the AC output. When the power is lower than 1W, the AC output will automatically turn off within 10 minutes. You can replace the cigarette port(car charging port) to output, the cigarette port does not have energy-saving mode, the output will not be shut down automatically.
    Can you accept the AC energy-saving mode?
    This is the response oukitel sent me

      I'm guessing my unit was a preproduction unit that didn't have that feature?! Does it mention that in the owners manual? If that is something that will not work for you, I'd fight to return the unit as they misrepresented their product in the Kickstart campaign.

    I wonder if the capacity difference between 12v and AC could be caused by the 12v regulator being ran at near full capacity, lessening its efficiency?
    As for the 12V shutting off at 4hrs, possibly just turning on the AC inverter would prevent the unit from powering off?

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад +1

      The AC inverter being powered on uses a bit of power in standby, it might keep the DC output on but it will use quite a bit of power.
      As for the DC efficiency levels it's hard to tell what's actually happening, this is what I am thinking: Anytime the DC output is enabled, it's using background power to regulate from 48volts down to 13.3volts. Maybe 15 to 25 watts, not sure the amount of power being consumed by the regulation. So a 12v device takes power from the battery (saying a 50 watt fan) but is also using other background power. So the longer its running the more background power is added. Shorten that time by raising up the load say to 160 watts and you get more power from the battery VS background power being used. I'll try giving it a test sometime and see what happens.

  • @mike.briney

    Loved how you rigged up the dual DC capacity testers man. Hadn't thought about doing that! haha Ive been only using 1 which always limited my DC efficiency tests to lower draws, which in bigger units such as the AC200 or B230, always yielded lower then ideal efficiencies. Genius! haha And hey when you do that next video on that AC200P unit.. could you do that draw test on that 12v/25a aviation output and also monitor the voltage during the test thru the cig port?
    Couple of friends have noticed a voltage drop actually, which is unfortunate thru the DC side.. Understanding that the wireless pad on top will also always be "on" and pulls roughly 4 watts and the 3a sockets use 2watts idling as well.. we were still noticing the voltage fluctuating from 14.2v all the way down to 12.7v thru the cig port. 🤔

    I am wondering if it's possible to use this while charging permanently? I am looking for a portable power station that I can use in my caravan.
    the plan is to
    1. plug the power station into a dedicated outlet from the shore power input.
    2. Then wire a plug with a 16amp MCB and suitable sizing wiring going into the 240 caravan consumer unit.
    3. possibly do similar to step 2 for 12v consumer unit (plugged into the power station 12v outlet).
    why?
    I would like to to use this instead of traditional house battery setup.
    I want to use the sockets, receptacles already in the caravan.
    I would like to use the mains power to power the caravan and charge the battery and only use the battery when there is no mains power.
    I would like to be able to do this while having solar panels permanently connected and allow for solar charging while also being charged by the mains.
    I would like to be able to remove the power station and easily plug the consumer unit back directly to the single mains shore power outlet coming from the shore power input.
    any problems with doing this with something like this unit?

      Yes, it would run that pump. You'd need to how many watts the sump pump uses while running in order to calculate how long it would last on the battery.

      I'm testing the "FFpower" brand of this power station right now, it doesn't shut off the DC output which is awesome, it gets around 1500wh of real capacity, just like the Oukitel version, everything else is pretty decent.

      @@Jasonoid I've been researching the differences between the Oukitel and FFpower P2001. FFpower states there is no dc auto shutoff! Hoping this is true as it can then power a dc fridge. Since you are testing it now, I was wondering if the car port output is really limited to only 4 amps? Seems awfully low compared to most at 12v/10a. It would be nice to know if it can actually safely go over 4a since the dc5521s are limited to 3a. Thanks for your amazing reviews, they are so informative and thorough!

    Quick question. Did you experience the unit shutting off on the AC side with loads around 60-100 or less? It seems to occur around the 20 minute mark or less. TV's seem to be ubiquitous with the phenomenon. The Kickstarter units have begun arriving and each one has reported the exact experience. I tested mine and it did the exact same thing. Not a deal breaker but something to be aware of before purchasing.

    Jason: Great stuff! I was wondering how you can have at least 500 watts of solar with the 48v and 15a limitations? I have a 2 panel limitation, so the best I can find is 2 Newpowa 210w (19.83v / 13.09a) for 410 watts. Is there a low amperage panel (< 8a) that has high voltage (40v - 48v) so I can run 2 panels in parallel? Thanks, Jim

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад +1

      Great question! I plan to run 4 BougeRV 180watt panels on this power station, 2 parallel and then those sets put into series. If you want to run just two panels, you'd want to look for a 12 volt 250 watt panel with a slightly higher voltage. Rich Solar and BougeRV have panels up in the 21v to 23v area, NewPowa have lower voltages for some reason. You could then hook those two panels in series and be good to go.
