Honestly the note is thoughtful and a bit odd but opening the fridge to find a person eating a sandwich is outright strange and highlights Zane's love for cold places
In the old days, refrigerators used to latch closed. Kids would sometimes climb in and get stuck while playing, especially with abandoned fridges in junkyards and such. Since the 1950s, it's been legally required for manufacturers to build refrigerators without latches and ensure that they can be opened from the inside, and it's been generally taboo (not sure if there's any actual law or official rule) to show characters in kids' shows playing or otherwise climbing into their refrigerators (or other appliances, like washing machines).
I would assume it's better for kids having access to large, latchable fridges like restaurants. Most I bet have too much stuff inside to replicate Zane.
The reason it was censored is because they were worried kids would copy Zane and get stuck inside of a fridge. But the rules on what was allowed to be shown varied by country, some regions were fine with showing Zane in a fridge and others were more strict and refused because of the aforementioned reasoning. As a result, both versions aired in different places depending on the region. If countries with stricter rules, the aired the version with the note, in countries where they were more lenient, they showed Zane in the fridge. Those of you who are wondering, they most likely censored it because kids would die in fridges a while back. Reason for this being, fridges used to only be able to open from the outside with a lever until they designed fridges to have magnetic sealing. So, you know, kids do as kids do, and they see a fridge on the side of the road and curiosity kicks in. Of course, most people would chain up fridges to prevent that if it could only be opened from the outside, but things still happened. Probably the most sensible reason why they did this though is that kids don't try to climb into the fridge at home to pull off the same gag.
@@alexslusher16 Eh, I don't think its really anyone's fault. Heck, I saw Buddy put perfume in his mouth thinking it was candy in Elf when I was 5 and I thought it was funny, so I did the same thing. Had nothing to do with my parents, and they were very protective of me, it just never came to mind that "hey, don't spray perfume in your mouth" would be useful. Just how kids are until they gain critical thinking at a certain age. The targeted audience for Ninjago is for mostly little ones, so I can see their reasoning for that. Not saying that the gag isn't funny, I'm just indifferent and wanted to shed some light on the situation.
I both watched this show on Netflix and on DVD, and remember seeing that the two scenes were different. I thought I had made some tremendous discovery at the time.
The note is funny in its own way, especially since the voice is the same as the original so it adds to the Urkel-ness. But, the original is probably the superior one as it's more zainy and Zane-y.
I've only ever seen the original version, the censored version seems so strange to me! Pretty sure the original version is still on Netflix too, unless I'm just dumb and everybody else knows that.

it will never not be dumb that this scene was originally cut because they genuinely thought children were going to clear out of refrigerator and sit in it
As someone who hid in washing machine as a kid, children would totally do this. Also the reason why most/all fridges have magnetic doors is because alot kids hid in the fridges and there was no way to open the door latched closed
Did they really think kids would attempt to imitate Zane sitting inside the fridge? I doubt most fridges would even have enough space to fit a whole person inside. As a side note: I find it interesting that Zane, despite being an android, eats like a regular, organic human does. And yes, I know he didn't originally know he was robotic. It just makes me curious regarding his anatomy.
Okay but now the joke makes no sense cuz like… the joke was that Kai said “holy baloney” and baloney (which I’m not gonna spell correctly cuz idc lol) is a deli meat, so Zane assumes Kai is asking for baloney, which they don’t have as Zane has consumed the last of the deli meat, so he offers cheese instead since it’s there. SO NOW WHY IS HE JUST LEAVING A NOTE SAYING THAT… KINDA WEIRD… which I guess is the point lol? Maybe his future vision… no…..
I'm pretty sure the reason why they censored it, is because they didn't want to give kids the idea that they should hide in a fridge. They might get stuck in there.

@@madeline5138 🙄
I can't believe they actually scensored that, were they scared of kids getting inside their fridges?
Yes.......kids have become trapped and suffocated inside old fridges since the 50s
The original scene can be seen in the netflix version of the episode
i got jumpscared from that paper somehow
0:04 Why would Zane eat his sandwich inside the fridge?
because he’s a CHILL person
What would you do if you found me in your fridge? - Zane
I both watched this show on Netflix and on DVD, and remember seeing that the two scenes were different. I thought I had made some tremendous discovery at the time.
I guess Papers can talk now
I knew there was a note in the fridge
This explains why I remembered seeing a note when I saw the episode airing when I was a kid, but Netflix shows Zane in the fridge.
Honestly, this was a pretty creative way to censor it
He’s becoming one with his element.
The note is funny in its own way, especially since the voice is the same as the original so it adds to the Urkel-ness. But, the original is probably the superior one as it's more zainy and Zane-y.
I don’t know what kid saw a robot Lego sitting in a fridge and said “Hey, that’s a pretty cool idea”
I've only ever seen the original version, the censored version seems so strange to me!
Pretty sure the original version is still on Netflix too, unless I'm just dumb and everybody else knows that.
But why is the original on Netflix and not the censored version of its censored and they don’t want people to see it!?
@@jumbo785 Depends on the region, probably.
@@fatcat1414 oh
The reason why this change was made is because it's one of those "Dangerous Acts" Kids try to re-create
Is it weird if I think both versions are funny?
Never even knew there was a censored version of this
Probably didn't want to inspire kids to go inside refrigerators. Seen something similar in Lilo & Stitch.
what episode?

@@DrowsyDregon thanks:)
0:03 Daequan Burns: Aah! Holy bologna!
0:07 Me: I'm sorry. I consumed the last of the deli meat. Cheese?
😂😂😂😂 cheese 🧀 0:10
Slams down cheese on table:
"Cheese"
What the ? This is kinda funny and pointless
I just love how Zane still offers cheese to Kai when it's just a note
Kais face in the veneered version shows how confusing the censor is
I love how when they changed it Kai went from completely shocked to mildly disappointed lol
This happens when the enterprises thinks that the kids are stupid
I guess that's understandable since the footage is from before we knew he is a robot
I need to rewatch this show, I used to be obsessed with it and I remember watching it as fast as I possibly could and then being upset when there was no more episodes lol.
It's so cool the way they creatively get around the censorship.
Why did they leave in “Cheese?”
It doesn’t make any sense without him actually handing over cheese
Because bringing in the actor to record a new line would cost money
Ok but why do i suddenly have an uncontrollable urge to rewatch this series again
"What the.. WHY ARE YOU IN OUR FRIDGE"
Now i can finally say i grew up with the uncensored version of the lego anime
it will never not be dumb that this scene was originally cut because they genuinely thought children were going to clear out of refrigerator and sit in it
the voiceover is actually fucking hilarious, good job guys
If you hear closely to the censored version, you’ll still hear the sound of Zane picking the cheese.
It took me a minute to realize why exactly this needed to be changed.
Imma be honest it's been so long I don't even know which version I originally saw.
Real:Bolony! Fake:Bologna! 0:03
The cinematic parallels between Zane and Ice Bear fro We Bear Bears is really something
I like the extra fog effects that they added in the censored version.
if that note showed up in my fridge, started talking and go "cheese?" i would take that offer and protect this note from the freezing cold
Not seeing Zane in the fridge will forever haunt me
Okay but now the joke makes no sense cuz like… the joke was that Kai said “holy baloney” and baloney (which I’m not gonna spell correctly cuz idc lol) is a deli meat, so Zane assumes Kai is asking for baloney, which they don’t have as Zane has consumed the last of the deli meat, so he offers cheese instead since it’s there.
SO NOW WHY IS HE JUST LEAVING A NOTE SAYING THAT… KINDA WEIRD… which I guess is the point lol?
Maybe his future vision… no…..
Every video of moments from cartoons always suggests me :3
I'm pretty sure the reason why they censored it, is because they didn't want to give kids the idea that they should hide in a fridge. They might get stuck in there.
dumb reason
@@JordiumZ Its not dumb! Kids have become trapped and suffocated after hiding inside old fridges since the 50s!
Why'd they censor it? Were they afraid kids would try to hide in the fridge?
think so
In the censored version, it looks like Kai opened up the fridge to a mini fridge.
I didn't know they changed that, I had the original disk so I watched that scene over and over again with Zane in the fridge.
the fridge is his house now lol
