The og steel phantom was next level rough. Everyone talks about the inversions which were the most painful inversions I have ever been on but they were smooth in comparison to the boomerang turn at the bottom of the 2nd hill. They reprofiled that for phantom's revenge, but it was basically a horrible arrow transition at close to 90 mph(they clocked it regularly on hot days hitting 90...) With classic arrow over the shoulder harnesses.
I'm thankful every time I go to Kennywood that Pittsburghers hate change so we got phantom's revenge instead of a new ground up coaster 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You probably know what I'm going to say: BGW's Drachen Fire is the headbangingest coaster I've ever ridden. It was a genuinely great layout that could have been a world-class coaster in the hands of someone equipped to execute it properly. But it was a ride of pain to the extent that it didn't last long.

The pre-brakes part of Anaconda should be part of the layout of whatever replaces it. I've legitimately grayed out on that sidewinder. The stuff after the brake run, I've always suspected, was designed to need as little maintenance as possible because of how it's over the lake, and they probably have been skimping on keeping that part well maintained in recent years.

    • @Tabbdoubleb
      @Tabbdoubleb Год назад +1

Smart! Anaconda has the potential to be a 5 or even 6 looper. I’m thinking maybe a pretty steep straight drop into a bat-wing before the corkscrews. Also, they need to turn off the mid course so it would go faster through the layout.

You mentioned that sometimes you just get one rough ride. That was our experience with Magnum XL 200 this summer. It was so rough we only did one ride. It didn't rattle it it bounced on the tracks likes a poorly maintained wooden roller coaster, only it was going 70 MPH. The "airtime" hills at the end made every male on our train vocally grunt as we went over them and got racked. Our entire party agreed it was the worst experience of our trip. I know a lot of people love it, but our experience was rough.

I rode anaconda for the first time in 2023 and I have to say that I really liked it. I got 2 night rides and it ended up being one of my favorite coasters at Kings Dominion. Didn’t really find it rough

Some of my roughest uk steel coasters; Colossus @ Thorpe Park. An Intamin 10 inversion coaster that is a good ride but has really bad trains and crushing otsr's. Infusion @ Blackpool Pleasure Beach, a relocated SLC that ran slightly smoother when it was Traumatizer at Southport Pleasureland. The Pepsi Loop @ Rhyl's Ocean Beach amusement park. A brutal Pinfari ZL42 that gave me a headache that made me ill.

Lol. I didn’t ride roller coasters as an early teen so I missed out a lot. But Windjammer was my first time on a vertical loop coaster and I became addicted. I went on the ride at least a dozen times in one day. Maybe because I was a teenager I didn’t mind.
I’m not a coaster enthusiast in the sense of making my way to American amusement parks (I’m Canadian), but I’ve been to my fair share in the PNW, California, and Florida. The worse, rockiest, migraine-inducing ride, to me, will always be Universals Rip Ride Rockit. Bashing my head from plastic to plastic even when it’s going straight, I’ve been on it twice in two different years and I’ll never go back.

Shockwave and Mantis gave me the most pain I've ever suffered on a ride. Stand-up coasters are downright evil and just suck outright. The Bat and Magnum XL-200 suffer from very uncomfortable trains, hopefully they get addressed soon.
I always thought Vortex was smooth the three times I rode it.

Good list. I’ve ridden Flashback and Windjammers. Both terrible. I was able to do Desperado before it got too bad.
A couple of other “winners” would be Jet Star 2 at Lagoon and the coaster on top of Glenwood Springs Caverns (not the new one). Really painful.

for me, Boomerang and Ednor in front at La Ronde are usual suspects for roughness, but the big surprise was Flight of Fear at King's Island. Fun coaster, but oh my god did it shake me around, I was not expecting that!
and if you think I'm just nitpicking and being petty, just remember: I enjoy riding Vekoma SLCs and Monstre at La Ronde is the single coaster I've ridden the most often ever AND I CAN ENJOY IT. I know what roughness is, and Flight of Fear is shockingly rough, like a back row ride on Ednor is smoother than a back row ride on Flight of Fear

I’ve not been on many coasters (30 to be exact) and luckily, not one of them was rough (by that, I meant I disliked the ride.)
the 2 rides I would probably say are rough are scorpion at Busch gardens as it was prity shaky, but I still enjoyed it. I’ve also been on one SLC (mind eraser at elitch gardens) and I actually enjoyed it (the bulky restraints were padded and wasn’t shaky) I went on it twice and is my 6th favorite coaster, I still prefer montu, but It did not suck.

My worst was Scream Machine at Great Adventure the year it was closing (2010). My best friend and I marathoned it before the park closed. What a beating that was but we were younger then. And the Runaway Train cars there are not only small and difficult to fit into, but that combined with it's bucking bronco jerks and lurches makes for a pretty rough ride indeed. More recently my best friend and I got slight concussions on Rougarou at Cedar Point this past September from the head banging, and that pretty much ruined the following 2 days we spent at the park. We were with our mutual enthusiast friend visiting from Brazil who always insists on front rows. We also took a "thorough" ass kick on Magnum XL200 (again, front row thanks to you know who). The jackhammering especially through that last tunnel was BRUTAL. But we got our revenge when we took our Brazilian friend on Steel Vengeance and he was so rattled that when he got off he ran to the nearest grassy area and tossed his cookies. 💥💥💥😎😎😎 To this day I laugh with glee at the very thought of it. But don't worry. We all plan to do it again in 2023. 👍👍👍

Some that come to mind for me:
    - Klondike Gold Rusher (Wild Waves): Zamperla Wild Mouse with really cramped cars and just a really rough ride. Was SBNO for several years but seems to be operating again.
    - Matterhorn Bobsleds (Disneyland): Even after being fully retracked a few years ago this one is still pretty rough. I'm pretty sure it's always been rough, and always will be.
    - Jet Star 2 (Lagoon): It's been a while since I've been on this one, but recall it was pretty bumpy last time I was on it.
