I am a nurse practitioner and this could really help someone who has had a stroke or partial amputation too. I know nonmedical needs can use it but all I could think of when I watched you was a young woman who was in a car accident who lost 3 fingers who I crocheted with sometimes and I am sending her the video. Everyone sees this and finds a different use!
Hi Christi! What a thought-filled comment!❤ as I've said, this probably has a place with a lot of people, and you hit the nail on the head! Not for everyone, but probably dearly useful to some! Thank you for your comment! XX Kim I hope you keep watching my channel and subscribe ( from one Healthcare worker to another)
@@Kimberly_Knit4Brains I am glad I found your channel and am now a subscriber. That device has several uses including reeling me in also!
@@christierosheim8977 🥰😁 then I am THRILLED!
@@christierosheim8977 @kimberly_knit4brains
I didn't think of that either. There is an amazing RUclipsr called @llamamamakayla who has Lupus & raynaud's disease and has lost 4 finger's on one hand and 3 on the other and she is a crocheting wonder ❤️. Check out her channel she is extremely open, honest & kind. She tells us about her life and all she has been through with an amazing spirit and teaching us all to try to make the best of life's curve balls 🥰. Check out her channel she is so positive and post daily!
I wonder if Mama Llama Kayla could find that helpful? Having lost 7 fingers now what she has adapted to is amazing but anything that would help is wonderful!
Yes! I mentioned her in my comments, hopefully she will see it! XX Kim
She doesn't have a way to hold it but it may be hooked to a stand or something. I love her and big daddy, she's a true inspiration.
I have MS and I have enough problems with just the hook and yarn. I've been crocheting since I was a kid, but when I was diagnosed with MS, and it started affecting my hands, just the slightest of pressure causes the nerves in my fingers and my hands to hurt really bad. I can see how this might help new crocheters and someone who doesn't have nerve pain in the hands and fingers.
Yes this may be a great tool for you!!
@@Kimberly_Knit4Brains no, it would make the nerves in my fingers and hand hurt, I have padded my hooks, lol, looks bad but at least it don't hurt
Looks like quite a clever little helper... You probably get better with practice... Cool
I would say so. I think it definitely can have a market audience.
I do a lot of planned pooling (which requires varied tension in stitches) and mosaic crochet (continuous color changes)... I can't see myself using a gadget like this.
But I agree with another poster, mama llama Kayla might benefit greatly.
Absolutely! XX Kim
That is a definite NOPE for me! I’m a tool/gadget kinda gal, but this would drive me crazy! Thanks for showing it Kimberly!
@karenrogers6149 LOL!! That seems to be the concensus, but I do think it has its place for some people. XX Kim
I think it would be too fidley for me.
I agree...I already had my "crochet" learning curve. But it does do what it claims. :) XX Kim
I thought I was going to need shoulder surgery and I was investigating anything that might help me hold yarn while I recuperated. I think this gadget would be good for that! For now, I don’t need surgery and my tension is good, so I will pass but I think this has a potential market. Thanks for demoing it for us to see.
Excellent Lindy, so happy my review helped!! I think It has its place in the world of crochet!
I could see where this could help crocheters who have issues with tension, or those who have problems with their hands cramping. My hands can cramp, and I turn to compression gloves, but this looks interesting to break it up so you can crochet longer.
Hi Maria, Yes I think it has it's place for sure. :)
IMHO, think the opposite, I think having this hard plastic thing I have to wrap my hand around would cause more pain...but 2 things can be true at the same time ❤😉 just because it doesn't work for me doesn't mean it wouldn't work for someone else! That is what's awesome about crochet everyone is unique in their craft while still following some guidelines ❤
Definitely strange. Don't think it would make for relaxing crochet. Think I will pass. Thanks for the demo. Interesting.
You’re welcome 😊
I have finger issues so this would really help. I wonder if you could do a whole project with this gadget?
Hi Tammy, I don't see why you couldn't. I was able to do a DC and. MR (magic ring). With a little practice, this could be handy! Good luck
You can. I have arthritus in my left hand that has rendered all but my pinky and ring finger 'useless' outside crab pinch holding of things. This tool has allowed me to crochet with out issue as I can crab hold my project with this between my fingers.
How do you hold your fabric? I hold my fabric and tension with my left hand.
Hi Deborah, I hold my tension and fabric in my left hand as well. I hold my hook in my right hand. 😊
What a palaver ! As someone who has crocheted since age ~8 ( almost 60 years now 😱) mostly using a Nr 20 cotton, a 1.25mm hook and never wound the cotton round more than one finger this gadget just makes crocheting look really difficult, would I have to give up my pencil-hold technique? Not for me . Thank you for trying this out so I don’t have to
@@user-fs7by7zt1u hahah, you are most welcome! Thank you fornsubscriving to my channel (I hope)😁😄. I think the consensus is that it may be gimmicky or unnecessary for some, but for people with hand issues, arthritis, carpal tunnel, etc., this could be a game changer.
My tension do change depending on my anxiety or how stressed/relax I am... but this is a no for me too clumsy for me 😅
@@stephaniem.2909 absolutely!!
Okay so....I haven't even finished your video but I plan on it. I bought this very thing because I have carpal tunnel. I also still struggle with my tension. I took this thing out of the box and looked at the instructions. For me, I couldn't figure it out. So far on your video I'm understanding it a lot better. Though I'm a bit scared to try it again. But I think I may manage it after you walked us through it. I imagine though it won't be my go to tool.
@creativecreations5992 oh OK, good for you! I think this may be a great gadget for you. Hopefully my video will make sense for you!!! Good luck! XX Kim
The videos by Crochetobe show how to use this tool better the the booklet does.
I do have trouble with tension. For a foundation chain or I-cord it might be useful for me but for other things I am not sure. I have never had great success with any other tensioning device.
@@weeb9332 hi!! This may work for you. It does what it says it does, so at least there's truth in advertising!😁 XX Kim
Too fidgety for me too. Only because I don't have problems with MC or tension. Seems making a MC with it is as hard as not using it. But it does what it claims.
Hi Kathy! I totally agree! I think it may be a good tool for someone just starting out. XX Kim
More trouble than it worth!
@nancytanguy2557 😁😅 probably for me too. Thanks for subscribing Nancy! XX Kim
Um NO. That gadget would distracts me from my work. Perhaps suited for people with Arthritis or hand issues?
haha LOL...I agree. But GREAT IDEA...people with arthritis or hand issues may really like this! ;) XX Kim
I’ll pass 🙄 to fiddly, lol
Yes, that seems to be the consensus, LOL! Kimberly
This is truly gimmicky. The magic circle possibly is a positive, but it seems like this company is just trying to get steal money from beginners. I am a lefty and hold my project with my right hand while the hook is in the left, so I couldn'tuse it. But it still looks unusable, clunky, and awkward, especially for a beginner,I also think it would teach bad habits. 😒
I think it would mess up beginners, too, because learning how to control tension is part of learning crochet. This is simply a crutch. You will never learn how to control your tension issues if you rely on this....😢
Thank you for testing this so it will minimize the number of people thinking this would be helpful for their tension issues.❤ Plus, when crocheting in public (ex. Doctors office, etc) I would be embarrassed to hold this clunky thing.😮
@LeoandTaurusCreations hi, and THANK YOU for your comment!! I didn't think about the "learning curve of beginners. " This is one of the things I love the most about having a channel...the dialogue!! Thank-you for your insightful comments, and for subscribing to my channel! XX Kim
@@Kimberly_Knit4Brains thanks for uour reply! ❤️ I really appreciate it!
I was reading the comment by the nurse practitioner who made an excellent point 😁 about helping people with disabilities to crochet 🧶. I didn't even think of that part of it, so maybe it's not as gimmicky as I first thought 🤔 It made me think of Llama Mama.Kayla, who is a disabled crocheter& RUclipsr ❤️
If you want to check out @llamamamakayla I encourage you to! She will truly amaze you with her quick wit, positivity, crochet abilities & pure kindness. She has turned into one of my top 5 crochet content creators on RUclips (you're on that short list too!❤️). She has a disability that you would think would stop her from crafting but no she defies the limits that her lupus & reynalds disease has thrown at her!
I tend to write letters instead of comments 😂 😂 I used to be called the "novelist" at work cause I could right a book when really only a sentence is needed LoL 🤣 Thanks so much for being you! Much love 😘
@@Kimberly_Knit4Brains I was reading the comment by the nurse practitioner and thought she made a good point. I guess I need to revise my comment, cause it would be a good thing to help people with disabilities.
If you want to meet a truly remarkable RUclipsr & crocheter, check out @Llamamamakayla. She has lupus & reynalds disease. She has lost 4 finger's on one hand and 3 on the other, yet she is a amazing person & crocheter! ❤️ She defies the limits of her diseases and proves that determination & positivity is key. She proves that limits are only set by yourself. She is truly an inspiration. ❤️. She post daily about her health & crochet. Check her out!
So glad I found your channel! 🥰
@@Kimberly_Knit4Brains I saw the nurse practitioners comment and she made a good point about it helping people with disabilities. So maybe its not as gimmicky as I thought. There is an amazing RUclipsr & crocheter called Llama Mama Kayla, she has lupus and reynalds and has lost 4 finger's on one hand and 3 on the other and still Crochets like a pro! ❤️.
She is amazing, she is always so positive and turns lemons into lemonade 🍋! She is proof that with a positive attitude and determination you can achieve anything. She is such an inspiration. I would ask everyone to subscribe and like her channel cause she is an inspiration to me and many others. 😍😍😍
@@Kimberly_Knit4Brains Hey Kimberly! I saw were the nurse practitioner said it would be useful for disabled people. So because of that she changed my mind. I agree that it would be amazing for people with disabilities.
I watch a sweet & inspirational RUclipsr named Llama Mama Kayla. She has Lupus and a disease called Reynalds. Because of that she has lost 4 fingers on one hand and 3 on the other. She is an amazing example of resilience through hardship. I encourage everyone to check out her channel because she doesn't back down just because she has few fingers left. This gadget might be useful to her. Just remember when life gets you down, watch Kayla and her amazingly positive attitude, love & care she puts in everything she does. She is an example to us all. Much Love & thank you for your upbeat commentary! ❤️
I have seen it for sale on Amazon for $19.99
@Rustye2 yes and I think it's on sale for less as well. 😊
Nice review, hard pass for me.
A couple of years ago, I made a tension/yarn guide ring with some 20 gauge copper wire. It fits on my index finger, and it works well for me.
That tool seems too fiddly.
@dawnkindnesscountsmost5991 Hi Dawn!! Oh good for you, I have a tension ring, and I have a hard time figuring it out. I think this could be good for some, maybe not for others. Thank you for your comment, and for subscribing to Mt channel! XX Kim
Also the magic circle has always eluded me so perhaps it is worth a shit.
That was worth a shot😮😮
@@weeb9332 hahahahaha!! Maybe either works!!😅🤣😅
@weeb9332 well there's that too! 😁😅
I would not like this. It would be grabbing the wrong string. It seems cumbersome to me.
@Nana-ru4uq it definitely has a learning curve! 😁 thank you for your comment, and for subscribing! XX Kim
Does not seem to be very practical if you are going to crochet a large size project. People have crocheted for years and managed to learn how to control their tension.
@@carolyndegroff5093 agreed, but maybe for someone with hand issues, it could work. 😁 thank you for your comments and for subscribing to my channel! XX Kim
A solution to a problem that didn’t need to be solved 😂
@stephaniegill8392 😁 yes I don't think I'll be using it, but some people may find it useful. At least it does what it claims. 😁 Thank you for your comments, and for subscribing! XX Kim
Not for me! I used a ring for a while just to help with my tension. Now I don’t need anything.😊
Rings sucked for me.
No thank you an experienced crocheter doesn't have tension problem. Looks like its pain in the butt.
Lol! Agreed!
Gadget not for everyone but I could see its usability, just not for me. It would be a specific disability to need one of these. Would be of 0 help for mine.
Agreed, that seems to be the consenus.
I do not wanna be that person 🧍 but open the door 🚪 here I am 😂. Loving entrepreneurship and making cash 💰 BUT wtf is this travesty. How did it make it through workshopping and who tested it. It’s not balanced and the design is what I think Dr Suess would make to make crochet ridiculous. 👏🏻 this is a hard pass .
@TheChroniclesOfYarnia LOL!!! Im LOVING all the comments and feedback on this video!!! I totally agree with all of you! But, someone may find this toy/tool useful...who knows!😆😅🥰
@@Kimberly_Knit4Brains it’s just the wonkiest thing I have ever seen 😂 thank you for sharing it , I had a good laugh 🤗

Tool: nope
Yes, not for everyone, but great for some I would think.😊
That looks cumbersome. Not for me.
