TV manufacturers are printing money with these things. They make a TV with deliberately poor sound so one is obliged then to buy a soundbar. I just bought a new Panasonic TV which sounded ok but not at all perfect as the speakers are actually directed towards the wall at the back of the TV. I then bought a Panasonic soundbar and the sound is much improved but of course that shouldn't be necessary, the TV should sound great out of the box.
